I read a couple of posts about giving children "ear planes" to avoid ear popping. What are they and where do you get them?

Has anyone ever tried these? Do they work on adults?

Ear Planes are the best things! I had severe, severe ear and sinus pain while flying. So bad that I thought my ears were going to bleed! I don't remember how I found out about them, but they work great! I only get the smallest twinge of pain and that's it! At $5 a pair it's a life saver for me!

Love the earplanes!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
DH and I live in Upstate New York and have made the three hour plane trip to FL many times and each time I swore it would be my last. That is, until I found earplanes! We were going to DL this past May and I was dreading the long flight and transfers to CA but happened upon the earplanes and didn't have so much as a twinge. I had also read to take a decongestant regularly several days before flying so I did that, too. I will be doing the same thing in just 3 1/2 weeks for my next WDW trip!

I bought Earplanes for myself and 2 DSs for our trip last May. I remembered the ear pain I suffered once as a teenager going to WDW with my mother. This was my DS9's first flight and I wanted him to enjoy it. So....DS9 and I put our earplanes in at the time they tell you (about a half hour or so before landing).... DS13 didn't think he'd need them because he had flown before with no problem. Well, as we're descending, DS9 and I are fine (DH was fine, too, he didn't want earplanes, but I imagine if he pain he wouldn't have let on. lol)... Suddenly DS13 starts complaining of the pain! I tried SO hard not to say "I told you!"... On the flight home, all 3 of us had our earplanes in! :D
As for me personally, I was so glad I had them because even with them in, I could still feel the change in pressure inside my ears. It didn't cause pain, but I was glad once we landed and got off the plane. I highly recommend them!

I am a nervous flyer. I am afraid of heights and will not go on rollercoasters. I flew several times to WDW and always had to take time out to laydown because my ears always gave me a problem with my equalibrium (sp) Boy did that room spin! LOL. After about an hour I would be ok and then dread flying back home because of this same feeling. This past May after reading a lot of posts about Earplanes I tried them. I got off the plane and took them out WAH-LA the room wasn't spinning. They were really terrific and I also used them to fly home. I could hear the woosh of the air pressure in the ear as it is released instead of it building up in the ear. I say use them. I will never fly without them. I was able to get them in Wal-Mart
They are in the aisle with ear drops and nose drops. Adult box is tan and blue, I do not remember what color the kids box was.

I have a plane flight on Saturday, and have my ear planes all ready. I'm glad to hear (literally, I guess) that they work.

I am glad that someone posted something about these......i have never heard of them. I dont have a problem when flying, but last year on one leg of our trip, my wife was in tears because her ears hurt so bad upon descending into orlando. She said it felt like a knife was in her ear. She didnt have too bad a time on the other flights, but it did hurt a little. When i saw this, i knew i better try some. We went out yesterday looking for them since we leave this sat. night. I found them at Wal-Mart for $3.87 for 1 pair, which states it can be used for 2 flights. I bought her 2 pair and she looks forward to trying them. Thanks again for the heads up!!

DisneyFun!
Let us know how they work for your wife. I hope her flight will be much better, I know I was happy with the Earplanes! Happy Disneying!!!

I used my Ear Planes and to my surprise they were very effective. My ears felt perfect after the landing!!

Two thumbs way up!!

Donna

Just wondering if anyone has used one pair for more than two flights and if they were still efective?

Yes - I guess I technically wore them for four flights when I flew from NC to CA - two flights out there and two flights back 6 days later. They worked perfectly.

I LOVE Earplanes!!! I used to be guaranteed 3-5 hours of mind-numbing ear pain after every flight I took...since I discovered Earplanes, I haven't had even one second of pain during or following any flight.

Wow, I'd never heard of these before. I'm definitely going to get these! Do they affect your hearing? I know they prevent the pressure build up, but do they also act as ear "plugs"?

Just bought some at Walmart thanks to everyone on here. I bought them just in case for my DD (flown once) and sis (never flown). Does anyone know the size difference between the adults and childrens? I purchased the adult size for my 9.5 yr DD since they didn't have childrens. She's 4' 7'' tall and weighs 87lbs.

I don't know the difference in size. The only thing Tinkerbell is that you can not use them just in case. You have to put them in your ears Before you get on the plane. They will not work if you try to put them in when your DD ears start to hurt. They have to be in the ears so the pressure doesn't build up. Once the pressure builds up thats when the ears hurt. Just thought I would let you know. Someone asked if you could use them more than once. The box says you could use them twice. I didn't just because they are small and I didn't want to have to stop to find someplace safe and clean to store them. I just threw them in the nearest trashcan at the unloading gate and proceeded on my way to baggage claim and EA!

You can use them more than twice and they'll work - I think it's more a hygiene factor that they tell you to use them twice, rather than an effectiveness factor.

$5 is a very small price to pay for each trip for my DS not to be screaming in pain.
