What activity do you do when you're upset?

When I’m mad-upset I do whatever it takes to keep from reacting to whatever it is that's riled me until I can gather myself. Smoke cigarettes, pace, try to be alone or at least keep my trap shut if I'm not. For other kinds of upset I do different things.
 

Anger/rage: Crank up 80's hair metal and exercise until I drop. Or just fume privately and imagine all the ways to get even.

Sadness/grief: Binge watch comedy, listen to sad music and wallow in it, or write. (Every novel I've written has been written in the throes of grief. And it shows. My characters are miserable people and I never have happy endings!)

Worried: Puzzles and Lego to take my mind off whatever is worrying me.
 
The problems that really upset me are the ones that make me scared of what 'might' happen as a result. Like I'm worried about someone's health that I love or I screwed up something big at work and I'm worried it's going to hurt me in my career, etc. For those types of things I always pray. I feel so much better about the things that are 100% out of my control at that point if I talk to God about them and ask for help and/or direction. But for more minor things, well then I tend to try to zone out and/or eat. Not the best way to handle the small day to day types of problems though, I should start doing something that is good for me or my home to relax when I'm stressed.
 
When I'm upset it'd be music for sure.

If I need a distraction but I'm not upset cleaning is usually what I do or organizing or shredding

I read a lot too. That's a good one for just normal stress when I need to escape. But I also read just about everyday so that's sorta more a habit.

I also watch movies but if I'm upset it'd have to be the right kind of movie likely one I've seen a million times over.
 
Break stuff. It was great when we were doing some demolition on parts of our house, but when we're not, well, that's different. I swear, my anger management is getting better though.
