I just got the letter from DVC announcing the opening dates for the SSR buildings. I noticed building 1 and 2 were mentioned, but what about 3?

Any other members own in unit 3? We are in 3B and our documents say it should open June 04. I don't think it will affect our first trip home since we're going December 04, but it would be nice to know that it *will* be open!

Does anyone know how they assigned buildings? We signed on Oct. 27 and got 3B.

So what about the rest of us?

I own at three different DVC resorts with multiple contracts for each. I'm still not sure if I ever stayed in "my building". I don't think it matters when your building opens. From everything I've heard, you will be able to make your reservations starting on December 1, just like everyone else. You may get assigned to your building but odds are that you won't be.

We own 3A (which is not necessarily building 3, BTW). The letter states that units 2A-9A will open June 7th. It it kind of unclear in the letter if they mean 2A, 3A, 4A, etc....or everything between 2A and 9A. Call MS if you are concerned...they should know by now.

The way I understood it is that you can make reservations (read: travel arrangements) starting Dec 1, but the actual stay has to be after the opening of your home resort building.

DVC had a deal that you either get $10 (or $5 now) back for this 'inconvenience', similar to the effect of Magical Beginnings, or you can have some points for a stay (technically, they would 'rent' some points for you in order to stay at a DVC resort before your building opens).

Please excuse me for being a total idiot. Now that I've read the letter with my eyes OPEN and my brain TURNED ON - I see that it says 2A - 9A. I swear when I first read it I saw 1A-1Q and 2A-2Q, someone must have changed it!

Anyway - that makes more sense. I should never post before my morning coffee.

Speed Weasel - the $10 discount was for the "inconvenience"? I had no idea, it wasn't proposed to me like that.

Hi Ducky - We're 3B too (sent back paperwork around the same time you did). I heard we could make reservations Dec. 1st for trips after June something (wasn't really paying attention since I knew we weren't going until Oct.). I was a little nervous too when I got that letter last week. Okay, maybe just feeling a little left out. I'm just going to assume we can make reservations at the Dec. 1st mark and if anything changes with the opening, it will just mean the reservation has to be AFTER the building opens. A mere guess on my part.
