What about the 10% discount for members when buying UPH at your resort?

I don't know if this point has been brought up since there have been alot of posts regarding the new ticket structure. Right now DVC members receive 10% off UPH tickets when buying them in person at the parks. This will be going away to make way for the new ticket system. My question is this: Will we get any kind of discount comparable to that UPH discount if we get our tickets when we arrive at the resort? Yeah we are getting the AP discount and I was going to buy an AP for my March trip, but now since I will only need a 6 day ticket and I don't know for sure if I will be back within that year to get my money's worth. Anyone have any insight to this?

Thanks

While I'm not aware of any official statement from DVC regarding the 10%discount - the information available about the new Magic Your Way passes indicates that current hopper passes (including UPH) will NOT be available at all after January 1, 2005. The new passes become available on January 2.

It would seem that since the UPH won't be sold any longer beginning on January 2, the DVC 10% discount also ends on January 1, 2005.

NO hoppers will be sold?! I thought it was only one day tickets...

It would be nice if Disney simply said the $100 discount on annual passes replaces the 10% discount....

I had predicted the 10% discount would end, I didn't think they would offer both. But I didn't see the total ticket revamp coming. It does appear to be a logical direction though. It'd be nice if DVC offered a 10% discount on the other options but I don't see it happening.

That is correct all the current ticketing (Hoppers, Hopper pluses, UPH) will be discontunued with the roll out of Magic Your Way. If you have a Hopper and/or a Hopper Plus from a previous visit you can still use any remaining days on it, they will still have no experation date for unused portion, but that type of ticket will no longer be avalaible for sale. MYW, the new ticketing system will allow you to pick and choose what you want for your ticket, as far as what access you want (PI, Water Parks, Theme parks, etc). It will then allow you to add Hopping privledges to the ticket and so on. It is basically a customized ticket to your needs.

Sweetp,
Under the old ticket structure, you would pay $315 plus tax for a 6-day UPH pass; with the 10% DVC discount it would be $283.50 plus tax.

A 6-day MYW Premium ticket (hopper and 4 plusses) is $267 (advance purchase price, plus tax). The only advantage to the UPH was the unlimited use of the minor parks. So unless you will visit the minor parks more than 4 times during your trip, the new MYW ticket is a better deal than the old UPH ticket, even with the 10% discount.

And for an extra dollar, you might as well get the 7-day MYW Premium which has 5 plusses. Even though you'll waste the extra park day, you'll have an extra plus to use.

Here's my analysis of the new MYW Premium tickets vs. the UPH with the DVC 10% discount. In a nutshell, although the number of visits to minor parks is now limited with the new tickets, the new MYW tickets are a better deal for any stays of 6 park days or more.

Note that if you plan to visit a minor park more times than the number of plusses you get, you can forgo the plusses (subtract $45) and just buy an annual pass for the minor park of your choice ($55 for PI, $79 for DQ, $100 for WP, $129 for DQ&WP), and you may still come out ahead.

Code:
days	UPH	DVCUPH	MYWPrem %change
2	129	116.1	199 +71
3	176	158.4	251 +58
4	236	212.4	265 +25
5	282	253.8	266 +5
6	315	283.5	267 -6
7	348	313.2	268 -14
8	383	344.7	289 -16
9	414	372.6	289 -22
10	446	401.4	289 -28
Notes: All prices are pre-tax.
The 8 and 9 day options force you to buy a 10-day MYW pass.
The MYW pass prices are listed with advance purchase discount where applicable.

Thanks Mochabean!
Good point about the AP's for the minor parks. We have DQ AP's and i wonder if the pricing will change.

As we can see, it doesnt look good for those wanting to stay 4 nights or less.

I think the price jump for the no expiration option is kind of steep from the 7day ($55) to the 10 day ($100) and eats up most of what was saved by increasing the # of days on the pass in the first place, unless you are really going to use that many days in one trip. There's no way you are going to beat inflation on that one.

In the Value season, when the parks close earlier, the UPH was a good deal, for the shorter stays, because you could do the parks in the daytime and DQ and PI in the evening since they stayed open past midnight.

The price difference between the 7 and 10 day pass with no expiration is $55 ($10 for the ticket and $45 for the no expiration option) which is $18.33 per day for those extra three days. I don’t think that is too steep!

I email MS about the UPH Discount not that MYW is starting. They said there was no plans "at this time" to offer a discount on MYW tickets to DVC members but no final decision had been made.
