I don't understand why this is so shocking. These mugs are probably being sold because they are Disney collectibles. With shipping they would cost MORE than mugs bought at Disney anyway.

I was just looking at Disney stuff on Ebay (yes, I do this way too often), and came across the following: :sad2:

Let's just say I was a little shocked to see this, but I guess nothing surprises me anymore. In 1996 were you they for "lifetime" use. I wasn't sure.

Yes they were good for that and any subsequent visits we bought our mugs at teh All Stars and were expressly told they were good forever as many times as we returned. Ours were purchased in 96 and then again at CSR and Dixie in 98 we were told the same thing.

It's a shame, some people have no class. By the time the buyer pays for the mug and shipping, he should just buy a "new" mug at the resort.

The sad thing is people will buy these, only to get to Disney and see they could have bought them there cheaper.

Yes, I already mentioned a new mug would be cheaper in the first answer to this thread. :confused3

AGAIN, I imagine someone might want these mugs for their collectible value, not to get free drinks.

Ugh, I hate e-bay. Too many chiseler's and charlaton's over there taking advantage of people. :sad2:

That's not as bad at the luggage tags you get on the DCL being sold. These are given out free to tag your luggage for disembarkation. This person took these for free and is now selling them for profit.

Actually I don't see the issue with the sale somone may not want them anymore and it may be what somone else does want without paying to go on a cruise supply and demand if there is a demand for it they will sell if not they will keep them.

I don't really see the harm in this. Is it any different than getting a gift from your Dear Aunt Millie (free to you!) and then selling it on eBay if it holds no use for you or is completely hideous? Lots of people sell stuff hanging out in their houses on eBay, and I bet not all of it is stuff they actually paid money for.

Honestly, can one *really* say that those luggage tags were "free" anyway? Last I checked, Disney cruises are so expensive I haven't even entertained the thought of booking one..

The best is the WDW planning videos that anyone can get for free, and people auction them off! :rotfl: :lmao:

Sometimes I check eBay to see what merchandise from Disney Stores people are selling (I work for TDS) -- once I saw a Chicken Little cellphone that we currently have for $5.50, with 15 bids! The price was up to $17, if I remember correctly. That's just stupid to me, but I think a lot of people enjoy the convenience and the competitive spirit of eBay.

This just shows how different people are.

I would never sell my Poly mugs. I love them. I have glasses from the Luau, ScI Fi, WCC, and others that I can't even remember. Sell them? NO way. :goodvibes Brings back lots of good memories to just auction them off. :teeth:

I dont think so at all.. People who sell on Ebay list their item at a certain price.. Either someone can bid or not.. Its their choice... and most of the time when something is sold for an amount that you wouldnt dream of paying its because people have a bidding war and someone bids that amt.. If they didnt want to pay that amt, then they dont have to bid.. Its more of what that person thinks its worth to them..

:rotfl2:
This gave me such a good laugh! I had seen signatures with a photo of a 'lifetime' mug, but I honestly thought they were part of Disney lore, a joke on the newbies (like myself), and that someone had doctored the photo. Now I find out they're for real! :rotfl:

Anybody else notice there are no bids on any of these? Perhaps they won't find it quite as easy as they thought to "get over" on those planning trips.

Don't know what's wrong with that. Somebody who wants one badly enough will buy one. No big.

I don't see what's wrong with selling the mugs either. It's not guaranteed that the buyers are looking to take them to WDW and violate whatever the mug policy is. And if they are I don't really care.

Free?! They paid for it. Being included in the package isn't the same as "free."

And if a someoene wants the tag without having to take the cruise, I say that it works out for both parties.

But that's just me.
