What a plan! Simple, yet insane. **New 4/19 Link to new PTR**

I love the pic of Ace watching Bill on TV... He seems like a dog with a lot fo personality... You always get the best pictures of him! :goodvibes

Ace cracks us up every day, I have the camera by me all the time. He is like our child so I take a lot of pictures of him.

I totally understand, our girls are like our kids too... They both have a lot of personality... Shelby you can actually see her facial expressions and know how she is feeling... She is a sensitive one...

GREAT job at ADR making! You got super times esp. for Narcoosees. Someday I"m gonna try that one!

Bill looks smashing on TV!! You tell him that. See? He's already got groupies. :cool2:

...due to the extreme peer pressure I have felt since people found out we were going to Disney in May (you know who you are Toni, Amy, and Kathy

)
I have decided to write one

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Yes, it would be. He has a t-shirt with the handicap sign that says "I'm just in it for the parking".

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Too, too funny!

You must post a pic of him wearing it!!

On to the next choice, Narcoossee’s on a Saturday night, I am dreaming right? Well wishes come true my friend - I got it for the exact time I wanted. We are planning to see Spectro and Wishes twice this trip so I figured we would have a nice, lovely early dinner before heading over to MK that night. There will be a surprise for him this night but I will get to that later.

Oooh, goody! I love reading about surprises!

Sounds like a lovely evening already.

I'm sad about Wishes, too. :sad1: Hope it comes back...

Ace is really sensitive too. He is a scared little guy and doesn't like loud noises at all. Spring is really bad for him since he hates the storms :guilty:.

I was really happy about Narcoossee's since we shouldn't have a problem getting back to MK for Spectro at 9pm.

You should have seen the smile on Bill's face when I told him he had "groupies", then I told him "you need to go on the DIS and post because you are nothing without your people" :lmao:. He shook his head at me like he does about 50 times a day :confused3.

You will have to wait until it is about 90 degrees, with the Cerebral Palsy he is cold all the time and doesn't wear tee shirts until it is hot.

Kathy

It won't be too long until I am posting about surprises. We are leaving tomorrow to go to a meeting for his volunteer advocacy group and won't be home until some time Sunday. He will have his laptop but I don't think we will be checking in.

Well I might on the Blackberry :rolleyes1 but it doesn't like the DIS and will hardly let me post from it. I can post on facebook, twitter, and Enchanted just not here :rotfl:.

Welcome to the Himalayas. – Yeti in Monsters, INC

Well not actually - not the Himalayas’, not Splash, Space, or Big Thunder either, the Smoky’s is where we are going. After we land in Nashville after our Disney trip, we will spend the night at a hotel and drive to Bill’s parents vacation home to meet them there. The home is on Bluff Mountain and they rent out when they aren’t going to be there. Every year they ask us to go, Bill gets bored there easily, but they are his parents and they want to spend time with him. We bowed out last year so we have to go this year.

It is so hard to want to turn on their street and see this:

I mean who wants to look out a window and see this:

Who would want to sleep here?:

Who wants to sit outside on the deck with the fire?:

Such a hardship to HAVE to go there, don’t you think?

I have no problem at all being bored here, I love the place, it is so beautiful there and I really enjoy Bill’s parents company. They have welcomed me into their family and I am forever blessed and grateful.

A bonus is they always have their dog Henry with them so when I miss this:

Henry is a great dog and I adore him. He is no Ace though, see Henry doesn’t think he is a dog. He ignores dogs, turns away from them and doesn’t acknowledge their presence. Ace on the other hand LOVES dogs and does his very best to get Henry to play, it is hilarious. It reminds me of the old Loony Tunes cartoons with Spike the bulldog and Chester the Terrier. See Chester is always trying to get Spike’s attention and approval, and Spike thinks he is too darn cool. Here is a pic, does anyone besides me remember them?:

I know one of the reasons Bill isn’t thrilled about going there is the drive. It is over 6 ½ hours for us and that is not good on his body. He is worn out after a trip there and usually has to take up at least half of the next day to recover, so why not help him out by breaking it up? Drive to Nashville about half way, go to Disney, come back from Disney, then just have about 3 ½ hours to drive to his parents the next day. I am doing it for his health I tell ya, because I love him
awe.gif
. Sure we are going to be tired after a 6, oops I mean 7 day Disney trip (I added a day on Wednesday night) but we will still be on the Disney high so that will be good.

I am sure we will be going to various places all over Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. His Mom likes to go to the outlet malls there, I have to see if the Disney Store is still there and make a stop at the scrapbook store too, even though I haven’t touched any of the massive amounts of scrapbooking stuff his Mom got me for Christmas yet. Abbey, my kinda daughter in law mentioned she would like to try scrapbooking so maybe I will drag it all out soon. I would think there would be at least one show in our future and I hope we have dinner at The Old Mill, I love their fruit plate. Bill and I will be going to at least one car museum too. There is a bird sanctuary that his parents like and I would love to see all the parrots and their reactions to Bill’s chair. Dollywood is not on our list, it is a beautiful place, the area for personal care just really turned us off last time we went.

I really don’t have to plan what we are doing there, they usually do that, so I get to focus on our planning Disney adventures.

Next installment… Things to possibly do to make the trip special for Bill

Me! Me! Me!! :yay:

It looks so peaceful, comfy, and relaxing there...not to mention so pretty! It will be good to cut that drive down to half so Bill won't arrive so worn out! :thumbsup2

Kathy

Oh I am so jealous... I would so be on that deck with a good book!!! :lovestruc

Great idea about breaking the drive up... It would be uncomfortable for that long in a car for ME, so I can only imagine Bill!! :guilty:

It is so beautiful down there. I hope we get to go to a couple of places up in the mountains.

They have 2 decks, one off the master and one with the fireplace. I like the patio area outside the family room. I am definitely taking a book or two.

I'm a little behind, but I love your fuzzy Disney math. I had to explain this to my brother when I changed our room only to the children are free QDP deal. He was like, "how is adding on $900 saving money?! :rotfl2:

Your ADRs are looking good. Have you checked the thread about people cancelling and changing ADRs? You may be able to get LeCellier that way...

Yes, that mountain cabin looks like torture. I don't know how you stand staying there...;)

Did you say where you are staying or are you saving it for a future installment?

Bill's parents' house is beautiful!! I can see why it's so tough to hang out there... :rolleyes1

I am a little late but...
Congratulations Bill on your Master's degree! That is definitely a reason to celebrate!
Tracy, I am so glad you are doing another PTR/TR! Yours our some of my favorites!
The house in the mountains looks beautiful. A perfect way to relax after your vacation in Disney World.

Hi! Your brother just needs to trust you, you know what you are talking about :thumbsup2. I have seen that ADR thread, thanks though for thinking about it.

It is a sacrifice to stay there, but what can I say I will do anything for Bill :rotfl:. We have decided that our stays will be a Pop unless otherwise noted :rotfl2:. What can I say, Pop is cheap, they dont share busses with anyone, and we like it.

Hello, Bill says thank you. I am so happy you like our reports. I really enjoy writing them.

Shh. Shh. Shh. Shh. Do you hear that? It's the winds of change. – Randall from Monsters, Inc.

I know the next installment is supposed to be about things to make the trip special for Bill, but I wanted to talk about what we did this weekend.

As I have stated before, Bill recently became a regional director of an advocacy group for persons with disabilities. One of his duties is being a board member so we had to attend the board meeting this weekend in Springfield, IL. Neither one of us knew what to expect.

See Bill and I do have friends, not many and not new people. People make assumptions about both of us a lot. We are leery when meeting new people, well new people that don’t have to do with Disney message boards
winking.gif
.

I know you might be thinking that these people shouldn’t have any problem being accepting, but even some people at the Independent Living Center that Bill works at have preconceived notions about what he can and can not do and don’t even let him try to do more
sadno.gif
. I was apprehensive to say the least.

We walked in and including Bill 7 of the 13 board members were in wheelchairs and they were the nicest, sweetest, funniest people
happy1.gif
. All my stress and nervousness melted away. When people first meet Bill they might have trouble with his speech so I played interpreter when they didn't understand. They had no problems with that at all. Bill jumped right in and the meeting was great. It lasted from 11am – 5pm with a lunch worked it.

I can not express how much we liked these people, how empowered they made us feel, like we could make a difference and how much we wanted to help. Bill looked so alive and watching him with all of them being so accepting and wanting to listen to him made me want to cry with joy.

The board is in transition with trying to find a new executive director and having extreme budgeting issues due to the fact former Governor Blagojevich and now Governor Quinn have Illinois 13 Billion (with a B) in debt. They haven’t paid our schools, they haven’t paid our hospitals and doctors, it seems the representatives and the Governor haven’t been paying anyone but themselves. (I am not starting a political conversation, just trying to let you know what is going on) The coalition gets some grant funding, but it is nothing like what they used to have, so for now the board members get reimbursed for mileage one way and nothing else.

We live about 3 ½ hours away from Springfield. We had to decide if Bill really wanted to go forward with this, because they want us back in April for a board meeting to interview potential executive directors, then again in May for the Annual meeting. Both meetings require us, because of Bill’s disability, to stay over night 2 nights, one so we can drive up the day before so Bill’s body can recover from the drive, also so we will be their early enough for the meeting, and another night because we have no idea how late the meeting will last. We have to board Ace when we go. This meeting was on a Saturday, the one in April will be too, and the one in May we will need to drive up on a Sunday so that means Ace will be there 3 nights each time. We also have to pay for all our meals. There was a huge decision to make, because we could not pay for all the Springfield trips and take 3 Disney trips this year.

We have decided to let the May trip go. We feel the coalition is more important and hope and pray it lasts past the end of this fiscal year. We aren’t sure what will be happening with the budget, the Governor is threatening even deeper cuts to Human Services and the coalition is in limbo, but we have to take a leap of faith here and go for it. This is something we really both believe in.

The October and December trips are going strong
bananamickey.gif
. We just think of it as having a great credit with SouthWest so when the October dates come out on March 23rd, I will be seeing if we should book that day. That is what I did for our trip in November last year and the flights were low.

So that is where things stand with us. If you want to and I hope you do, keep hanging out with me to read
ipdip.gif
and my December plans. It is going to be fun and nerve wracking
nailbiting.gif
to plan two trips but I am up for it!

Oh and we have rescheduled tentatively with Bill's Dad to go to the mountains at the end of June. He said if someone is already going with them, they will get bumped because Bill is on the "A" list :lmao:.

Next installment… Things to make the trip special for Bill and for me!

I guess the ADRs will have to wait til IpDip!!!!!

Everyone needs a place to feel like they can make a difference. I'm glad Bill has a voice!:thumbsup2

I already have my ADR list for October and am looking at it tentatively for December :rotfl:. Bill says he just wants to make a difference and have something to do in life. He also wants to show his Dad that the money for his education wasn't wasted.
