the gym is starting to charge per class instead of a flat fee (currently pay $25 which includes all classes, equipment etc)
it will cost $40 for the 1st 10 classes, $20 for the 2nd 10 classes, $20 for the 3rd 10 classes and so on - $10 for equipment when buying a class card

thinking of cutting back to 20 classes - currently i take 36 per month (9 per week)
mon - hi/lo step, yoga
tues -
wed - hi/lo step, pilates, kickboxing
thurs - instructors choice (step, weights or?)
fri - strength/weights
sat - kickboxing, cardio/step

what would you cut out? im pushing 50, at goal weight

Which ones do you "like" the best? I  my yoga... feel :confused3 about pilates. I like to switch things up, so I might go for instructor choice instead of step.

Tough choice... could you vary it week to week? Or are you stuck in certain classes?

Can or rather will you be able to substitute any of the cardio with anything cardio on your own? I'd consider keeping the gym things that you cannot do at home or on your own and schedule your own w/o to supplement.

you take three classes a day on some days?? how long are you working out!!

i would cut out the step classes only b/c of the impact and the effects it may have on your joints long term

then i'd cut out kickboxing but that is my personal preference there

do you have to pre-sign up? why not just switch up week by week depending on your schedule?

the classes are each an hour long

some are presign up (instructors choice, kickboxing, sat morn step) but even then there is usually a waiting list so if im on the list i can always cancel

im going to try to switch up week by week however some classes do advance more quickly

thanks for the input everyone - something to think about

My general rule of thumb is to drop whatever you like the least. But i wll say that I think you should keep the weight class and possibly add 1 more. Strength training and free weights are really very good for your bone density and I always try to do it 2-3 times per week. Though i work out at home with a dvd and not a gym.

Honestly though I can't imagine paying so much for classes on top of what you probably already pay at the gym. That's why I love my dvds. i pay the fee once and do the workout till i get bored or advance to something harder.

Hey Barb!
You go girl! Here's what I'd do~

mon - hi/lo step(I'd get rid of this and do the stairmaster), yoga
tues -
wed - hi/lo step(I'd get rid of this and do the stairmaster), pilates, kickboxing
thurs - instructors choice (step, weights or?)(I'd run outside or something)
fri - strength/weights
sat - kickboxing, cardio/step(I'd get rid of this and do the stairmaster/run)

Mon - Yoga
Tues-
Wed- Pilates, kickboxing
Thurs-
Fri- strength/weights
Sat- kickboxing

that would be the 5 classes per week = 20 per month I'd take

Good luck on your decision:goodvibes

Personally, I would cut out the step and pilates, as I can't seem to manage working out with a step and I hurt my back doing pilates one time. Either way, I admire your dedication to working out! :)
