if you don’t mind me asking I saw one I was interested in for 10 dollars it would not be so bad if it was just one but it’s part of a series

In general I don't buy books, I get them from the library. I looked at getting an e-book because our library system didn't have the book and even that was $15. I decided against it.

The most I have spent on a book is over $100 for a text book while in college.

If we are talking textbooks, then I think one of my math books was $300.
If we are talking artbooks, then I think one of my most expensive books was around $80?
If we are talking regular fiction books, then probably ~$60 for a copy of a signed novel.

Textbooks for college were very expensive.

I am a bibliophile, and have a small but deliberate collection of first edition hardcovers, etc. I can tell you the next book I buy will probably cost me over $100. :( Waiting for it to become available in the near mint condition is the challenge.

Not counting text books or professional books, I have spent $35 on a hard cover fiction book with nothing particularly special about it. I have bought many in the $15-25 range. I'd say my average book is around $10 for a Kindle or Nook version. If I start a series that is complete already, I look to see if there is a discounted box set available.

I don't like spending much on books. I found a good one at a garage sale, for , oh I think .50 cents. So I looked them up on amazon to go with the audible I have. I like that since my hands go numb holding things to long. And I love to read. But between the book and the audible, wow no way. Book was like 8 dollars and up and then the audible for one book was like 7.49 and up for the different ones. Well that killed that.
One day I went on etsy and saw someone had 10 of them and the cost was 30 dollars and shipping was free. So I figured at 3 dollars I could not go wrong. And would not find them in a set like that again. So I bought them. I was in shock when I got them. They were all hard backs. And looked brand new. I was so thrilled. So it will take me time , as I can't hold them to long but I will get through with them.

Look on etsy I found a good set of 10 for a good price. See my post above.

$10 isn't much. I prefer to spend under $15 for a paperback, but have spent upwards of $25 for a hardback copy of a book that I really wanted.

Textbooks are a whole other story. Many were in the $150-$225 range 10-20 years ago! I remember a lab book alone that could not be resold was $110 in 2000.

I was not counting textbooks and to be fair it is discounted because it is 3 in 1 so it is a very good deal I am just either cheap or on a tight budget

I do kindle for two reasons one is clutter control and two it has the definition right there for you

I hear you tink. I get that the writers ask the big prices when they first come out but if they are a used book, man I am not willing to pay a huge price for a book that has been used. Heck I remember going into walmart and seeing paperback ones for 4.99. But I don't have that kind of money to spend on one book. I am frugal.

Last year I had to pay $30+ to replace a library book my dog ate. It made me made because I could have bought the book for less at the grocery store but it needed to be library quality (whatever that is). To top it off, the book wasn't even good!

I never buy books anymore. Even when I see one I might like at a thrift store I just write the title & author's name down and then request it from my library. Of course my county's headquarters library is only 2 miles from my house, halfway to my job also. So pretty convenient for me.

The last book I bought was one by Chuck Norris over 20yrs ago when he had a book signing at a local bookstore. My grandson adores him so I surprised him by taking him to the signing and had to buy the book in order to meet Chuck. Around $20 even then.
