What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Yesterday was my husband's birthday so at his request we had BBQ kielbasa, pierogi (potato/cheese) and roasted butternut squash. FOr his cake I made him a spice cake, which even though the buttercream and the cake were not cooperating... too cold and too crumbly... was still tasty, and my cat was absolutely smitten with it.

Happy belated birthday to your husband! Beautiful kitty!

How do you cook yours? My doc told me I needed to start eating more salmon, and I'd like to get some of the precooked kind at Walmart and try it. I just don't know how to cook it or what to put on it. So looking for some ideas.

Must be the night for our "usuals" (haha!), I'm having salmon, broccoli, and buttercup squash.

Happy Belated Birthday to your DH. :bday: I'm impressed that you made the cake.

Actually I buy the uncooked kind at Walmart all the time in the refrigerated section. I buy the "raised without antibiotics" package. It is always very fresh tasting, not fishy at all. I swear by this recipe: Sensational spiced salmon. My husband isn't a seafood eater and even he loves salmon when I make it that way. If you give it a try, let me know what you think!

it's leftovers (aka-clear out the fridge for thanksgiving) tonight and tomorrow, supplemented by our good friends at Papa Murphy's and their crazy $1 1 topping medium pizza special (I got stuff I can add to the top :thumbsup2 ).

Leftover corn chowder and hot dogs. Little Guy is here for overnight- we were going to have BLTs with the chowder but there was only 4 half-slices of bacon left, so we had bacon/cheese dogs instead of BLTs. We also have leftover chili-mac from last week's chili which will probably become lunch or supper tomorrow... gotta clean out that fridge!

A smokehouse barbecue sandwich, bacon Mac n cheese, a small baguette, and cookies from Panera. I accidentally got 2 cookies when I ordered 1 cookie… but when I saw it I just shut up 🫠

Ina Garten's Weeknight Bolongese was dinner for DH & I tonight. https://barefootcontessa.com/recipes/weeknight-bolognese-1
I tweeked the receipe a bit. I used 1/2 lb. ground meat & 1/2 lb. ground sweet Italian sausage. Used about half the amount of oregano & garlic. Skipped the heavy cream . It serves 4 so the leftover portion will get frozen and used again in a week or 2.
We also had a salad and some slices of baguette.

Wound up not going to Walmart. I will do that tomorrow evening after work. So we settled on chicken. Took 2 cans of chicken, warmed in skillet with taco seasoning, salsa and block of cream cheese. Cooked throughout then put into a soft taco shell. It was good. Made a small batch of mashed potatoes (package potatoes), and that was dinner.

Wrong time for chicken… it’s almost Thursday… hope you got your turkey 🫢
