What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Jersey Mike's is our favorite chain, sub restaurant. Their meat is the best. I wish they had more locations.

love them too but we recently had a place called capriotti's open that has some pretty spectacular offerings. we only get to their neck of the woods once a month but we always stop there (wonderful pastrami ).

I've never had a Thanksgiving casserole. How do you make it?

it's stupid easy-literaly just the leftovers from Thanksgiving. bottom layer is stuffing (I spray the dish with Pam to prevent stickage), then layer it with the other traditional stuff we have-turkey, yams (or sweet potatoes), green bean casserole and top with mashed potatoes. if i'm making some to freeze I leave the mashed potatoes off (they don't freeze well) and just make some to top it when I defrost them to use. after heating top servings with turkey gravy. honestly not my favorite but dh and my adult kids love it.

This past week has been a blur. It was the first week of school so bussing for the elementary kids was very backed up in the afternoon. We did some take-out, some leftovers and I went over to a friend’s house on Friday after school for margaritas and charcuterie. We needed it!

Yesterday we had chicken fricassee and today is football Sunday, so buffalo chicken dip, wings, cheese, pepperoni and crackers and jambalaya is on the stove.

Sunday Funday! We had some friends over for the 1:00 game. First time entertaining in the new space and first time using the new bar.

We had wings, buffalo dip, Cesar cups, bruschetta, meatball Stromboli, and cupcakes.

My friend had a beautiful picnic for our girlfriend group this afternoon and snapped this picture before we all arrived. We didn’t get a picture of all the food everyone brought, because we were all hungry and dove in! Hahaha. These ladies can cook and my heart is full from our conversations.

Been busy wandering the streets of NYC with a “bestie” this weekend. She had the pleasure of wheelchairing me one day (Go faster. Whee!) and helping me break in my new mobility scooter another. First, we watched a Latin salsa group on Friday at Little Island, a new park. Ate dinner there courtesy of a taqueria food truck which was delightfully messy. Dessert was a cup of cuke spears and mango. Sounds a bit odd but it worked.

Saturday, we woke up bright and early and took Metro North to Grand Central. Friend is re decorating her space so we perused the remaining fabric stores of the West 30s formally known as the Garment District. After much up and down elevators and street crossings back and forth, purchases were made and we headed back to the Eastside. Treated ourselves to a meal at

The weekend was a blur. Friday we grabbed a bite before the movie, then stopped at a local place for dinner and a drink. Still full from the premovie snack, I took home half of my sub and fries (steak and cheese). Saturday we did a local car show with some friends, which resulted in several vendor snacks, then a semi late lunch with the group, which resulted in not being hungry for dinner (it was also our anniversary so we skipped the fancy night out). I did however heat some pork pot stickers with a red pepper chili dipping sauce to get me over the hump for the night (all three us had some). Sunday dinner was grilled rib eye steaks, over roasted Brussell sprouts with a balsamic drizzle, oven roasted potatoes and for dessert, a warmed apple cider donut topped with a scope of vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce!


My wife is traveling for work all week, so it's just me and my son this week. Tonight will be one of our favorites that my wife doesn't care for...... Shepards Pie!!!

Oyster pan roast is still the one and the drinks aren’t bad either.

Sunday we took Metro North to 125th Street to checkout some shops. Vintage clothing for her and Sephora for me. Had a meal of fried chicken and waffles with a side of collard greens. No room for dessert but we drank a few Aperol spritzers when we returned to my home.

No idea what’s for dinner. It’s up to Air France and let’s hope they treat me well. I’ll be gone for a bit but not sure how long as my ticket return date is open.

Tonight pulled out some stuffed peppersoup that I froze from last week. Going to make that with some biscuits. My fridge freezers and pantry are packed again. Going to work on clearing through that. Have a wonderful day everyone
