Tonight I’m trying the brown sugar garlic chicken thighs for the first time. It looks fairly easy but things aren’t usually easy for me. Wish me luck! Haha

Dinner tonight will be chicken Alfredo, per my DD request, and I made brownies for dessert. I also just made some soft pretzel bites and cheese sauce from scratch (soooo good) for an afternoon snack. I don’t love to cook but I do love to bake!

Ended up being a semi-responsible sloth last night and dumped together some cannellini beans with garlic and spinach with a slice of toast.

Probably should be using the opportunity to pull together at least an extra freezer meal or two for my in-laws but I am sooo unmotivated.

OMG, they would send a lightning strike at you if they heard that. I am probably the biggest disappointment they have regarding my DH.

Sadly, I know the feeling. A couple months before she died, my MIL finally apologized to me for the way they had treated me. It only took her 33 years, but I'm glad I had that time with her to make amends. There's hope for you yet.

Last night was loaded baked potatoes. Tonight my beautiful daughter is making patty tacos for the family.

Sadly, I know the feeling. A couple months before she died, my MIL finally apologized to me for the way they had treated me. It only took her 33 years, but I'm glad I had that time with her to make amends. There's hope for you yet.

Well, MIL is deep in the throes of dementia and frequently has zero clue who I am when we're face to face, so much so that several times she's dropped the decades-long fake-nice facade and told me flat-out what a terrible person her daughter in law is. She's always ruled the group think roost, so FIL and BIL just stand there awkwardly because interrupting her won't work with her endless looping back to the same conversations. I'm sure they're hesitant to point out who I am when she's looping an angry tirade because she might lash out physically.

Ironically I've been the one who's encouraged DH from the time we began dating not to cut off a relationship with his family. They entirely papered over the ******* that existed long before I ever met him and I became the source of all the problems.

To be clear, I did not use inappropriate language. The word starred out is perfectly ordinary term for conflict that would be appropriate if you were talking with the Pope.

So we got lazy and just made honey sweet and sour chicken nuggets and fries for dinner last night.

Tonight it's gluten free spaghetti with meat sauce.
