:D please tell me where picture are and all the other great stuff!!
coffe makers? what goodies are the room is there a bad standard view???

Click on WDW resort FAQ and you will see the Grand Floridian. Click there and you will find floor plans, pictures and lots of room info. Have fun:) It's our favourite resort.........You will have a Grand Time:p :p

No coffee makers in rooms, and none available. No "goodies", it's pretty much just a standard hotel, although the rooms are large and cheery, and generally clean and well maintained. Not sure what kind of "goodies" you were thinking you would be getting...

Some of the views are so-so IMHO. Those very close to the monorail, and the ones overlooking the area that the FEP barges come out of at night.

Be sure to ask for a room that it not on the ground level.
CM talked me into getting a room on the first floor. We had to move because all we could see was delivery carts. It was awful.

We had stayed at the Dolphin the night before for $129.00 a night and we were then paying twice as much and all we could see was carts. I was very upset. Went to the front desk spoke to a nice young man and he said he would see what we could do. Two hours went by and nothing happened. I marched back down and yes you could say by now I was mad, I had now seen at least 15 different delivery carts and they parked them right in front of my room and left them there. At one time there were six carts there. I voiced my concern and it was simply that I was paying good money for this room and I was able to stay in the Swan( YOu know the resort that is not owned by you guys) and I was able to see the fireworks from my bed. I demanded to speak to someone and within 45 minutes they were at my door helping us move. They said we were getting a room with a view but all we could now see was a palm tree. At that point, I did not care what I could see as long as it was not CARTS!!!!!

goodies ?? mickey soap shampoo ???

If you are in a concierge room they will not be the Mickey soaps and shampoos, but an upgraded nicer quality of toiletries. In a standard room they will be the Mickey toiletries, but the same ones that you find in other WDW resorts.

If you mean goodies like in gift baskets, flowers, anything like that, no. Not unless you pay extra to have them delivered. most GF rooms do have a small potted green plant.

just mickey soap thats all i was hoping for !!!:D :D

is there robes in the standerd room??
is there standard rooms with out a balcony

We have never had Mickey soap/shampoo at the GF. All three times I've stayed there I've had the special GF toiletries that look sort of old fashioned. I don't believe they offer Mickey toiletries in any of the rooms.

There are no robes in the standard rooms. You'll have a TV, minibar, beds, table and chairs, just your normal hotel room furnishings.

All rooms have a balcony or patio except for the lodge tower rooms on the top floor.

If I were you I'd request a marina view from Sago Cay or Conch Key. Those are standard views. Another nice view would be the courtyard pool view from Conch Key or Boca Chica. The only standard view I would call "bad" would be the back corner of Sago that overlooks the loading dock.

Any other questions?? :)

Now that you mention it, I stand very corrected, the toiletries at the GF are the upgraded ones, not the Mickey ones. In concierge there are toiletry items you do'nt get in standard, but all the same brand. Sorry for the confusion.

Our toiletries were Alice in Wonderland when we stayed at the GF 12/31-1/4. The q-tips had White Rabbit on them, etc.

I once read a post here on the DIS that someone was given Mickey soap in their room in place of the GF logo soap, possibly they were out of it.

I'm sure you'll love the GF! ;)

Though we stayed in a lagoon view room, our friends in a standard view had robes in their room, the same kind we had in our room. Not sure if htey all do, but this room did. It was a standard view in Sago Cay facing the woods and the area where the water parade comes out from.

I've stayed in both concierge and a standard view. Both rooms had the same GF "old fashion" toiletries including the "white rabbit box" and both rooms had robes in them... both had turn down service with mint... Only difference was food in the lobby of concierge...

Our last stay at the GF was 2000. I requested Conch Key because we had stayed there before and liked the location. The honored our request and we received a complimentary concierge upgrade because the main bldg was being refurbished and Conch Key was concierge during the refurbishment.

I paid for a standard view and our view was not that great. better than delivery carts but we were looking at a huge palm tree. Couldn't see much past it. My kids didn't mind because they kept finding lizards on the tree!!

At that time, there were robes in our room. Also, I had heard that you can request kids bathrobes and I did, but never received them.

I did request turndown service and received that nightly at no extra charge.

There was a minibar in our room, which I was able to put a small jelly jar in and water and soda bottles in.

There were no mickey soaps. Their soaps are round and covered in pretty pink paper that says "GF" on them. Also, pretty little shampoo bottles that say Grand Floridian on them. (I know because they are in my guest bathroom right now!!)

Even though I have read bad reviews of the GF lately, we have stayed there twice and loved it.

Have fun.

Anna

In September we stayed in a standard room in Boca Chica and there were 2 robes and GF soaps, shampoos, q-tips, etc.

We also had robes, "Rabbit" toiletries, minibar, and turndown in our Boca Chica standard room this past Christmas.

We too had the room with the carts. You couldn't sit out on your patio because the carts were coming and going. Didn't request a change, but should have. Overall our experience at the Grand was wonderful!
