We've upgraded to Premium Economy!

After a 4 1/2 hr really cramped flight back from Cyprus on Wednesday DH & I decided that there is no way we could manage nearly a 10hr flight to the States in economy seats. We're not exceptionally tall, I'm 5'8' & DH is 6'2' but we're both 'broad shouldered' (OK, so the rest of us is a bit broad as well LOL), but we really couldn't get comfortable at all. Trying to eat the meal was almost comical, the only way to eat was to synchronise our movements! We are now the UK's first Eating Display Team! LOL

Anyway, the result is that first thing yesterday morning we went down to the travel agents and upgraded our Virgin seats to Premium Economy. Yippee!

I would like to quell any rumours before they start (just in case the gentleman who was sat on the other side of me on the plane reads these boards!) that any complaining I did to DH about how cramped I was, and that my telling him that it would be much worse after a 10hr flight especially the return overnight trip, did not contribute whatsoever to him making his own decision about the need for the upgrade!!! ;) ;) Any suggestions that I exaggerated, wheedled & whined just to get the upgrade will be strongly denied (especially in the presence of DH!!)

Zip a dee do dah
Zip a dee day
My oh my what a wonderful day
Plenty of seat space
Plenty of room

Zip a dee day

:D :D ;)

Mmmm, I think I should have posted this over on the trip planning forum.:(

Hi.

When I went to Florida in 2002,we got upgraded to premium econmy on the outbound flight. What can I say HUGE seats, plenty of room, drinks when you board and just being able to stretch your legs.

The only problem was no free upgrade on the return flight, what a shock to the system that was.I really don't blame you for upgrading, theres a huge difference between premium and normal econmy.

Still Dreaming of SSR

I love PE, you really will notice the difference the seats are like big comfy sun loungers and the upstairs cabin is so quiet!:Pinkbounc

I hadn't realised that PE was upstairs on the plane, I'm even more excited now. The last time we flew to the US was back in 1998 and there were some bigger seats at the front of the plane and I thought those were the PE ones.

I must ring DH at work right now to tell him! It'll cheer him up as he's working this weekend.

One of the even more excellent perks for Upper Class and Premium Economy passengers on the Orlando route is that your luggage gets taken off first and put on a separate carousel, so we're normally one of the first ones out of the airport:Pinkbounc

Also, separate check-in queue (apart from Twilight Check-in).

It is SO worth the extra spondoolies if you can do it.

Great news, PE is the bee's knees! :) :)

Are the Manchester PE seats ( downstairs) big and comfy too??

I think you made the right choice, we have also booked PE

I am so jealous!!! ;) I would love to go Premium Economy but it is a bit pricey for us! One day though!!!

Rain- the PE from Manchester is in the middle of the plane in front of cattle class. At the very front is Club Orlando with seats that look like settees (spelling?). Not sure what is upstairs in the bubble or if there a downstairs at all. PE is great, big seats and loads of room especially if you get the bulkhead seats right at the front- pity the planes that Virgin use from Manchester have seen better days- as with everything London gets the best and the new and we have to slum it up north :( :(

We wanted to upgrade when we fly out next Monday to LA, but at £275 each one way, it was just too much:( :( :(
We have requested the Clubhouse at Heathrow though, its better than nothing I suppose.
Love sasha

check out the virgin website, here you can look at the layout of the upstairs cabin, prebook your seats and see what movies they are showing!:Pinkbounc

Upstairs has 12 club orlando seats, a galley, a toilet and the cockpit. the upper deck is shorter on the MAN plane (different model)

From April next year MAN gets a refitted plane (Lady Penelope I believe) and we move from Club Orando to full Upper class service ( and price !! )
