We are going to Discovery Cove in August and with that ticket purchase we can choose to either have a day at SW or a day at Aquatica. Initially, we thought Aquatica, but I can get the 3 park unlimited pass for US, IOA & Wet n Wild for a bit more than the 2 park pass, so I am wondering how Wet n Wild compares to Aquatica. We have been to SW before, don't mind going again, but we like our water parks and wonder if Aquatica is better...or more enjoyable. Has anyone been to both and can offer a comparison or some advice?

Thanks.

I've been to both. They are completely oranges & apples.

Aquatica: has a much better theme, more to look at & a bit of the wow factor (with the dolphins you slide through). My criticism of Aquatica though is that the rides are not really doing much for me. That being said there is a lot to do there for younger visitors. I've heard it said & I agree Aquatica is only really worth it if going with younger kids who can't do the adult rides.

Wet & Wild: Has the best rides of any waterpark (in my opinion). But has absolutely no theme to speak of, it's just a collection of water rides. There's not much to do for the little ones, a small water play area.

When I was younger & enjoyed my surroundings I loved the Disney waterparks; Aquatica is very much the same for me. When I got to my mid-teens I just become more about the rides: Wet & Wild was the only waterpark we went to. These days we don't go to any, but if I was going to: Wet & Wild.

Hope that helps.

Helps A LOT. Thanks. My DD will be 9 when we go and she rides any and everything so I think Wet and Wild might be more up our ally and I like that they have a ton of family rides too.

Thanks again for the review!

No problem. Only thing to keep in mind with W&W is to manage expectations around the theme. I know with most trips it will be the only time you step outside the "tourist bubble". I can be a little underwhelming to just be concrete & rides. That said the rides is all you can see from the parking lot - I was always just walking over excited to try the funky looking rides I can see.

W&W has rides you won't find elsewhere.

Wet n Wild is a good waterpark if you just want to do the slides which are pretty unique, there's a lack of trees, theming and is an older waterpark.Aquatica is the newest, nicest waterpark in Orlando, slides are OK,nothing overly special but there are also attractions like the Roas Rapids fast lazy river which is the coolest thing at any waterpark. It also has some things that are better than any other waterpark in Orlando including Disney, those are dining, shopping and kids areas, which it has two,a smaller one for young kids and a bigger one that's fun for adults as well. The theme is South Pacific and is very nice, but it's mostly palm trees so there isn't that much shade, especially when compared to Typhoon Lagoon which has so many trees you won't get burned on even the sunniest of days.To this day I can't tell you what my favorite waterpark in Orlando is,they all have positives and negatives, when I was younger I used to go to Blizzard Beach more often since it has more thrilling slides, but the layout of the park is odd making you go up the mountain continuously to get to the slides which gets boring and tiring.I prefer Typhoon Lagoon today because it's a nice experience overall, great theming, unique attractions like the shark reef and the water coaster, aside from the water coaster the slides are pretty mediocre.Aquatica like I said also has positives and a few negatives but is right up there in my favorites.Wet n Wild is probably last on my list due to the lack of theme and being an older park, but I do love my thrilling slides so even though it's last it's right behind the others, and if you want to include Adventure Island the waterpark in Tampa by Busch Gardens I probably prefer Wet n Wild to it,even though Adventure Island is not a bad waterpark either.

Thanks to both of you for great info. I think we would like Wet n Wild. We are going to stay at Hard Rock, so we have our themed pool to lounge around at. When we go to a waterpark, DD likes to go, go, go and this is right up her ally.

I see they charge parking. Do you know whether or not "on site" guests have to pay to park? I know there is a shuttle, but if we don't want to be tied to their schedule and want to drive, can we park for free with our hotel pass?

You will have to pay to park as onsite priviledges do not extend to Wet 'n Wild.

Thank you. I have tried searching on the DIS and on the Universal site, but can't seem to find any general info on the shuttle to/from Wet N Wild. Anyone know what the schedule is. I see it does not run continuously, but I am curious as to what the schedule is.

i found wet n wild to be a better park, that being said aquaticas lazy river and river rapids thing is much better. Aquatica's dolphine waterslide is a waste of time because u cant see a thing when you go through the slide. And most importantly remember to load up on suntan lotion I was using factor 50+ repeatedly and still burnt and blistered
