Westin Anaheim

For what it's worth the walk up Disneyland Dr to DTD is much more pleasant than walking up South Harbor. No bus stops. No transients. No vendors. No driveways to cross. It is a longer walk to get to Disneyland Dr than S Harbor from the esplanade. The esplanade isn't centered and cheats east towards S Harbor. The hotel itself is very nice and luxurious. I would stay here if I still want that resort feel without staying on property.

I love love love this hotel. Wife and I have done a staycation at this hotel 2 years in a row, and will probably do another one next year lol. Only issue I have is the walk to the park can be a bit far, so we usually end up just driving lol. Property is new, clean, and beautiful though. As a gold member, we got a view of incredicoaster and the ferris wheel. Gorgeous at night.

I know this thread is one year old but since I was about to make one with practically the same title, it seemed better to post here. I often see a lot of love for the Westin. I'm not concerned about the walk. I have only ever stayed on site twice over the last 15 years because the price is just too steep for me, so I'm not used to a resort hotel experience. We stay on Harbor, especially Hojo, because Harbor is good for proximity. If I am looking to plus up my experience a little, the Westin sounds like a possibility. I'm willing to walk a little further, and I'm tired of Harbor. I'm not really fussy about amenities. My priorities tend to be safety, cleanliness, comfort of the bed, and quiet. It seems like Westin checks all the boxes for the first three, but I haven't seen a lot about people's experiences with noise. I've seen one poster who said absolute quiet. I've seen one poster who complained about street noise. I have no idea what room types these posters had. I unfortunately am a bit of a light sleeper who is sensitive to noise. How does Anaheim Westin standard room rate as far as noise level?

The theme-park rooms that front Katella can be noisy with loud motorcycles, etc on Katella. We had a room in the back once facing the garage and it was quiet. We also just had a room overlooking the front traffic circle at the entrance (but not directly on Katella) and it was quiet.

Our room was on the east corner in the back. We heard noise from the convention center. Mainly big trucks and forklifts backing up with the “beep, beep, beep”. I think we heard a car alarm go off in the garage too. None were super annoying but you could still hear it. We were also close to the elevator and there was quite a bit of noise from that. So maybe ask for a room away from the elevator if possible.

I might have been the poster who complained about noise in the room. Mine faced Katella so there was noise from that. I could also clearly hear everything my neighbors on both sides did in their rooms, plus everything going on up and down the hallway outside the room, including the elevator "ding"ing even though we were pretty far down the hall away from it. I have rarely stayed in a hotel with such paper-thin walls, so if noise is a consideration then I would scratch the Westin off your list.

Was the Westin new construction or a retrofit? I would think if it was built as a Westin, it would have had better soundproofing?

It was brand new. We didn’t hear anyone next to us but honestly, I’m not sure if we had a neighbor! We for sure heard people in the hallway by the elevator. We we surprised how much we heard in the hall. We really liked the room though. ☺️

What time is breakfast available each day? Is it early enough to still make it to security for RD?

The concierge lounge (available to Bonvoy platinum and up) opened at 6:30. We are quick eaters, so we had plenty of time to walk over, get through security, and wait for rope drop.

Wanted to post an update since a number of people were kind enough to respond to my post. We did try the Westin for Thanksgiving week since it was also a big birthday trip for me. I really loved that hotel! And that walk to me after years trudging down Harbor was amazing. Yes, it was a bit longer than usual for us but so much more fun passing through downtown Disney. We did use the shortcut out the Grand's front doors on two occasions when heading back. We also used the monorail on two occasions, once in, once out, to bypass downtown Disney.

I decided based on comments here to ask at check-in not to be placed near the elevator. It was the only request I made. The woman checking me in looked at the computer and told me my room was ready and near the elevator. She was great though because she then offered to look for what else was available. The choices she came up with were a paid upgrade to a view room which I don't think would have solved my noise problem at all or a complimentary upgrade to a pool view room. I opted for the complimentary upgrade. She warned me that I would have a long walk to and from the elevator (the room in fact turned out to be the farthest possible from the elevator) and that the room wasn't ready yet, and I told her neither of those things were an issue for me. Room was ready by 3PM check-in time. I found the stay generally quiet, certainly more so than I have ever experienced on Harbor. We could hear noise from the hallway and one of the nearby rooms occasionally, but it wasn't too disruptive. I felt the great distance from the elevator was helpful to me since there certainly weren't people trudging past our door at all hours. Overall I very much enjoyed the room and our stay at the Westin.
