Can anyone tell me about this new road? Is it a public road TO Disney or a road ON Disney property?

My parents just retired to The Villages, about 58 miles north of WDW. They live off #27 and we follow it down to #192. It takes about an hour and ten minutes from their place to Mickey. I was wondering if this new road might be better but could not find it on Mapquest.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

You're actually talking about two different roads. First of all, TOLL 429 is the new tollroad aka Western Beltway. Previously open from Apopka to the Turnpike and then 3 miles south to Winter Garden-Vineland Road, it has now been extended south to US 192 and next month gets finished and connects to I-4 WEST of Disney and EAST of Championsgate and EAST of US 27.

So from The Villages you would take US 27 south to the Turnpike, take the Turnpike south and you then connect onto TOLL 429 south to Disney World. The toll on the 429 is $1.00.

Western Way is the new road into the west part of WDW. You would exit the 429 at the "Hartzog Road / Walt Disney World" exit. When you're off the toll road you're on Western Way. This is a Disney road on Disney property. The road connects to Buena Vista Drive adjacent the Coronado Beach Resort.

Because of so many traffic lights on US 27 and US 192, you'll save 30-minutes using the new route. But it will cost you $2.25....$1.25 for using the Turnpike and $1.00 for using TOLL 429. If your vehicle has SUNPASS or E-PASS, you'll save 25-cents.

Wow BobK, thanks! This is just what I was hoping to hear. We have two weeks to spend at Xmastime and will be making lots of trips back and forth. I was hoping the new roads would be like a "Mickey Express."

I grew up in NJ and am used to the fees of the Garden State Parkway, so the $2.25 doesn't scare me :)

Thanks for the details. I am printing out your info and saving it! :woohoo:

Just watch your speed once you exit onto Western Way, it drops to 35mph and you will often find an Orange County Deputy parked there just waiting to greet eager Disney guests.
