All excursions are subject to change and based on availability.

That's it! :) Please keep in mind that some of this IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE, but it should be pretty close to a final list.

Enjoy, all you Western cruisers! :)

This has been one of the most frustrating parts about the western cruise - not being able to select which of the excursions our family would take at each stop.

Thank you . . .thank you . . . thank you!!!!!!!

Looks like I'm not getting any sleep tonite!

Michelle,

Are these excursions posted on the DCL website yet? Or is this inside information?

I just tried to get on the DCL website without much success. Isuspect alot of people are checking it out!

Thanks again!

Stormkrow, these are not posted anywhere else yet. :) I'm sure DCL will have more information in the next couple of weeks once these are available for booking for the May 11 cruise. But for now it is not yet posted on their website. :)

I am SO happy to see they are offering Xcaret! We went there when we took a cruise on Voyager of the Seas, and I loved it so much that I can't wait to do it again! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Hi:wave:
Now that we have the "Western Options" and approximate times of travel, does anyone know if it would be possible to go to Tulum and Xel-Ha on our own? How far would it be from Tulum to Xel-Ha? If so what would be the recommendation for travel? Rent a car/jeep, take a taxi? Would there be a concern of safety, ease of travel, and are there different ferries to catch?

Thank you so much for the information. Our cruise does not
happen until August 17, the excitement is definitely building.
Can't wait for the trip reports from the Western Carribean.

Actually, our family was looking forward to that same excursion. Other cruise ships combine the two stops on one excursion. I would be hesitant to try an excursion like this for fear that something would go wrong and we would be stuck in Cozumel (not that the island is a terrible place to be stuck in). We'll stay with the DCL-sponsored excursions.

Also, did you notice that there is an extra fee if you want to videotape the ruins at Tulum? Has anyone ever seen this fee anywhere else? It seems sorta strange!

Barb

Barb,

Can you provide some detail on Xcaret. As described in the excursion info, it sounds great! However, some of the information I found online would suggest that this is more of a tourist trap, designed to recreate a Mayan ruin in a resort setting.

My family was looking forward to the Tulum tour, but now we're considering Xcaret. Our kids want to see real Mayan ruins, not just a dug out foundation of what use to be something. Does that make sense? Can you compare Tulum and Xcaret?

Thanks!

Wow! Thanks for all the info. We aren't sailing until 10-12, but I think I will need all that time to decide which excursions to do.

Thanks, Michelle...well done as usual.

I noticed that a lot of the Cayman excursions include a visit to the Turtle Farm.

Since I have turtles, this seems to be the major (and, as of right now, the ONLY) thing my kids are interested in seeing at Grand Cayman.

Does anyone know if it's big enough to warrant MORE than the 30-45 minutes that most of the excursions allow? I'll have to go there separately on my own if I think it's worth spending more time at.

The one good thing - since I booked Category 1, I'll basically have my pick, so the dolphins better get ready!

I just have to ask...

The Atlantis Deep Explorer in Grand Cayman...
is that really $345/person or just a typo? I've seen some pricey shore excursions, but nothing like that before. Think of all the Konk Koolers that would buy! :D

Julie

Michelle,

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Was speaking to CM over the weekend and asked if they had any info yet. All she could say was "soon". Sure is good to have friends in the right places.

Julie,
If you look at the description, it suggests a very deep exploration - 800 feet down. If this is true, it's not like the submarine excursions that barely go below the surface (if at all). Based on the price, I suspect this is a really deep exploration of the ocean floor.

Since I'm slightly clastrophobic (and trying to make our vacation dollars stretch), our family will probably skip this excursion.

That $345 is the price we were given, no typo. :) As stormkrow says, it's not the usual submarine excursion and that is reflected in the price.

I think I'll pass on that one too, but for someone who has always wanted a real submarine experience it may be worth it. :)

Stormkrow:
I also read about the video fee at Tulum in one of the travel books I got when the Western itinerary was announced. Does seem strange. This is the only place I saw it. But it was a definite "Please Note".
