Western Caribbean April 30, 2011?

Hi I am going to be on the cruise with my sister and we have learned about this thing called fish extenders. I was wondering is anyone doing them? and is there somewhere that we need to sign-up to get on a list with our stateroom?

:welcome:

E&EMom is organizing FEs, and 4 Ears is doing our headcount. To participate in the FE we would normally PM the organizer, but since you're new (like I was), you can post your first names and ages (for children) or adult if it applies. She'll put you on the list. Good to have you!

We're getting closer to being a month away!!!:banana: So excited! :cool1:

Also, I was wondering if we were going to put a cut off date for the FE - I haven't really gotten anything yet, because it doesn't seem like anything has been finalized yet.. I just don't want to go get stuff and then realize that I have to buy more :thumbsup2 Thanks! :goodvibes

We can set a cutoff date for the FE is you all want to. I don't recall if we had a cut off date the last time I participated. Why don't we say the cut off date is March 30? That gives everyone a month to plan and get things together along with the rest of the things we need to pack, buy, and get done!

Can't believe it's getting closer! I started buying clothes and things this past week as I have to get a whole new wardrobe for this summer. None of my clothes from last year fit - to big! :cool1:

If there are anymore that have joined and want to be in on the FE - please message me or you can leave a message on the board!

Just got a Stateroom on Hold for this cruise for myself (M43) DD (12) & DS (8). All a bit last minute (or so it feels to me) but we've just has a life changing event with DW passing away. This would be a first time cruise so I'm totally out of my depth! Kids love Disney and have done WDW and Paris before. Several people have reccomended this as a great escape from reality!

Am I mad booking this so late? Will all the kid friendly excursions have gone? If we are waitilisted for First dinner seating what are the typical chances of avoiding late dining? :confused3

Thanks for any pointers and we may see you there (24 hours to make a decision)!

Tumsk - I a very sorry about your DW.

I don't think you are booking this too late at all! Even though we booked a while ago, we have not really gotten to any planning. From my browsing recently, it looked like a lot of excursions were still available. And if not, it seems a lot cheaper to book on your own anyway.

I can't say much of the dinner seating but from what I read - if you make a bee line for making the change once you board, your chances may be pretty good.

Good luck with the big decision!

So, so sorry to read about your DW.

A Disney cruise sounds like a great plan and always the sooner the better in my book. I'm not sure about your chances on the dining thing, but my advice would be, as best you can, to let go of worrying about it. You might ultimately have some control over it (read the boards!), but the less you let it matter, the less it actually will matter. You'll eat and it'll be fun. There's always food available somewhere and no one will go hungry for long.

I wouldn't worry about the excursions either. Absolute worst case scenario is you have to hang out, relax, do very little and enjoy spending time together with the ship basically to yourself (AKA the best case scenario). But that's unlikely as most excursions are going to be friendly with the ages your kids are at.

The point is: Just do it. Don't worry about every little detail now. Focus on the essentials, like getting everyone there on time. It will all fall into place. You have plenty of time to obsess over the particulars like the rest of us.

So sorry about your DW.

I echo the thoughts of my fellow cruisers - no better escape than Disney. I see you have a son the same age as mine. My DS would be happy to know of someone his age who will be cruising with us, if you decide to book.

Best of luck to you as you decide what to do. Please report back here if you decide to book. We would like to welcome your family.

Tumsk,

I also am sorry to hear of your DW. The Disney cruise is fantastic and even last minute there will be things to do. I looked at shore excursions last night and there seems to be plenty left and even if not, there are always non-Disney shore excursions especially in Grand Cayman through Captain Marvins which I have used in the past and had a great experience with.

Hope that you decide to join us - we would love to welcome you to our group!

Thanks for the Welcome and advice everyone. I'm still convinced I've gone slightly Goofy  Flights & Disney Cruise & Ground Transfers Booked (so far)! :thumbsup2

We will be in Orlando for 9 nights before the Cruise - Just need to sort out park tickets and accomodation now (thinking of 5 nights off resort to visit Universal/Shop and 4 nights at AKL before transfering to the cruise - I can sleep on the Cruise can't I!).

My condolences Tumsk! We would love to have you join us! As well as any one else! Havnt looked this am but I think we are 42 days from sailing. Did some clothes shopping for me yesterday, need to do a little more and DH has to do his. SO looking forward to getting away...

Hi we will be going on our first cruise... We are beyond excited. We are heading out from Canada and heading out to Florida. We have an oceanview stateroom, we were advised by friends who had cruised before to just get an inside stateroom, but I need the light. We are very excited, Oh I think I said that already. My Dh and I will be cruising with our 2 DD's aged 13 and 6. Any tips or advice from you seasoned cruisers?

Thanks -
:cool1:

Just returned from vacation #1 and see I finally got my Magic room assignment; paid for inside stateroom 11A to be on a higher deck, ended up with room 2044. I'm guessing this on deck 2 in an oceanview stateroom? Happy for the upgrade if that's what it is, but does anyone have experience with rooming on deck 2?

I think March 30 is a good cut off date. I have already gotten a few gifts while out shopping, but would like to have a date to finalize things.

Also, since this is our first cruise, I was wondering if once we are on board do we have a schedule or assigned day(s) to deliver our gifts?

Thank you so much this is my second time on the disney magic and my first time hearing about the fish extenders and participating in them. There are only two people in my stateroom Ashley Thompson and Sandy Thompson. Thanks for all you help. Look foward to seeing you in 39 days.

Ashley
P.S. Also our stateroom number is #6072.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss - I'm sure you will all have fun, even under the circumstances :goodvibes I can't offer any advice, as I've never cruised before, but everybody else seems pretty sure you'll all have a good time! :thumbsup2 I'm looking forward to cruising with you!

Oh, also, my friend is coming with us, and she happens to be the same age as your daughter - I'm sure we could find a time to all meet up and hang out, if she (and your son) feels comfortable meeting other people :) I don't want her to feel like she has to, though. Looking forward to meeting you! :goodvibes
