Hi Sunny.
it annoys me more than anything that someone opens up a controversial topic, and then after people give their honest opinion, they decide they don't like the opinions and have it closed. My goodness, don't read the thread if it makes you nervous. No one was saying anything wrong in that thread and it was very interesting
As I was a poster who did open a thread about this convict, and some time later ask for it to be closed, I presume I am the 'someone' you reference above.
First off, I am sorry, if I am the one, that I annoyed you, or anyone for that matter. I have always tried my darnest to not be annoying here (I am sure I don't always succeed, but I try), and do try to not cause controversy. When I posted the news item Monday afternoon, I stated 'Good news'. To me, it was, and still is, good news. My personal opinion. Others can, and apparently did, state their personal opinions. I did not read the thread on an ongoing basis, as some do I think, and it certainly did not make me nervous. I have yet to become nervous over a thread on the DIS. Upset over some, yes, but never nervous. And that thread did not make me necessarily upset, as I said, I was not following it on a real-time basis.
Over some time, a bit over a day, it was apparent that yet another thread on the DIS was becoming an arrogant, personal platform for someone's personal ideology (and I personally give two hoots about what someone wants to believe, I have mine, and everybody is entitled to their's also, but don't stuff it down my throat). One 'person' had over 20 posts on that one thread. Again, I did not follow it as if it were a debate, but is seemed to evolve into that, as well as a personal platform of arrogance.
Knowing that it was not going to be moved to the Debate Board, where I personally would have thought it should have gone after about the 5th page (having reread it today), and after having been told by several posters how it later desolved further with lasciviously degrading and abusive remarks, yes, I asked for it to be closed. I refuse to allow myself to be party to another's arrogant, demeaning and degrading comments to other DIS'ers. If I make them myself, please let me know. I have been off base several times here in the past, and I did my utmost to successfully correct the wrongs I did.
So, I made a post of a news event, I was pleased with the news event, and I stated so,
once. The thread, as so many have, deteriorated to one of arrogance, and I asked for it to be closed. And if that annoyed you, Sunny, I am sorry for that.
