Oh Monica:

Sorry to hear that the doctor shared the bad news. I'm in the boat with you too, and CAN'T give up my potatoes.:( This summer hopefully will be the summer of the salad. Are you in?

Have to be....no options for me now....there go my asiago cheese bread (white bread) and sweets :sad1:

Monica, sorry about being pre diabetic. It seems to becoming more common - or at least they can now diagnose something for which dealing with will help not get diabetes. Maybe when the blood tests etc are ok again you will be able to add some of the things back in to your diet that you like and have to give up on now.

Ok, so here I am sitting at home, sicker than I have been in the last 5 years, not knowing which end "Stuff" is going to be coming out of me next, and all I can do is catch up on this thread. Thankfully it was not something from the cruise, but the crap being passed around my office. If it follows true to course with the others, I should be back to work tomorrow.

I didn't send one to myself but I did send one to my cousin and she got it with no postmark. Like you said, bummer.

Ian, if you and Suki get married in California around October Doug and i might be able to join you too.

Carol

Carol, I am still waiting for my postcard to arrive and I agree Ian & Sukie should get married here in CA (or at least collect a 2nd licence out here!)

Deb, Great photos of my back yard! I grew up in Santa Monica and now live behind the "Hollywood" sign. Next time you come to LA, we will have to get together, along with all the other SoCal DIS'rs.

VERY sad about Universal Studios. And scary since many of you were just there the other day. Been watching news updates since earlier this evening. :(

I saw the smoke from the house as they are only 6 miles away and then heard it on the news. My guess is that they will rebuild. If not the original items, then something better for a new production.

You're right.....how could I ever do another 7 night when 15 went so fast. John and I will have to talk about it.

I loved LA.....everywhere we went and everything we did was awesome. Even the weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold.

Vegas was ok....I didn't like it as much as I liked LA. We only gamled our last hour there and I won $200 at the quarter slots. The pool was overcrowed, the heat was unbearable. I don't think I like the desert....at least not there. The drive from LA was barren and dry and hot. I'm more of a coastal person, I need an ocean.

I agree, that is why I live here and why I like doing the 2 week cruises. Congrats on winning at the slots. You did better than most people do.

Cheri, Great photos! It was so nice to have you on the trip with us.

Vegas is not really my cup of tea either. Or, as Marilyn would say, I don't really fancy it. :) I have to be really, really rested before we go and I only want to stay a couple of days at the most, and not often, every 10 years or so is enough for me.::yes::

I agree Angie. The only times I end up going to Vegas is for a wedding or a batchlor party and I only end up there for the weekend.

I've been very tired since I've been home, WHY???? I just got back from a relaxing 3 week vacation? I guess I need a vacation to rest up from my vacation.

I would do the Panama Canal again, but not just to go through it, I would want to stop along the way and tour the area.

I liked the trans Atlantic trip better. But I REALLY want to go to Hawaii, I wonder if Disney will have a trip going there?

Connie, you and your 3 men are always welcome to come visit us here in LA again for your vacation from the vacation! I too am hoping that Alaska or Hawaii will be the next special Disney cruise and that it will be the 3rd time we get to sail with you.

A reliable source :rotfl2: :lmao: (CM) at DL said that the Fantasy and/or the Dream will be going to Hawaii. :thumbsup2

Rumers abound but we can always hope

Any my low points on the Cruise was some dis people avoided us as we thought that not our fault for being disability but as their problems not our as we were happy on the Cruise and glad to had two interpreters made us laugh too. No need for some people walked past us without saying hello etc.

anyway, some lovely usa and calofornia people are lovely too. Shame that I have not met more disboards, think I missed some.
Scottishwee35

Deborah, those who did not stop to chat with you were the ones who missed knowing a lovely family and they are the lesser for passing you by. I got some of the same responses when I was with my boys, but I feel that they were the ones who did not get to know us and know the fun of two big kids who see nothing but joy in the world.

As for your interperters, I sailed with Brian last year on the trans-atlantic and he is just a fun fellow. You were very lucky to have them both on this trip.

Las Vegas is nothing like it used to be. You used to be able to eat for practically nothing but now you pay more than most other places. They used to think that getting your money through gambling was enough, now they want it all.

I hope Disney does go to Hawaii. Would love to go there again.

I found that a lot of the people wearing Dis lanyards wouldn't bother to speak either. Why be a part of a group if you aren't going to be a part of it?
Carol

Carol, I have to agree with all three statements. There were so many people wearing lanyards who I said hi to and they looked at me like I was crazy.

I know there are so many DIS-ers I did meet, but I got so confused with DIS names and REAL names, and I always forgot the real names......I finally gave up and just had a good timewith whomever I was with!

I want to say how much we have enjoyed our FISH EXTENDER GIFTS!

So many of you are creative! Each day we would look in our pockets to see what treasures we have! Still using the chapstick....who ever thought of that? And the candy....mmmmmmm! And the CD's......and the glowsticks! And the tissues.....and tattos and stickers and more candy! And See's butterscotch lollypops! And Mexican sugar candy! And the cool neck wraps! There are more, but I am sure I have forgotten!

It was so much fun to go to the pajama party, sorry I missed the luncheon. EVERYTHING was fun!

There were so many events it was hard to make all that we did make it to. And I thought I was the only one having problems keeping names straight. The boys loved checking the Fish Extender every day and we still have to unpack all the gifts. Thank you to all who made it so much fun.

He told the nurse that he wanted the leg back after the operation. She asked him why. My father told the nurse he wanted to make it into a lamp. Both my father and I cracked up as the nurse looked at us in horror.

Next story.

I took my father to a restaurant. We were waiting to get in, and a little kid was staring at my father and asked him what happened to his legs. My father smiled and said, "I was absent minded and forgot them on the bus."

Ian, now I know where you get your great sense of humor. Great stories.

Ok everyone...

May we all bow our heads and offer a moment of silence...

After being away from it for over 3 weeks....

Our Beloved Refridgerator has decided to bite the big one...

Visiting hours at the dump will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the "Oh Crap.. I have to go grocery shopping" fund, the "Man is that garbage guy going to get a hernia lifting this can tomorrow" fund or the "Lets all send Planky to Harvard" educational scholarship.

The frige is dead, long live the new fridge! What a bummer that you have to go appliance shopping for an unexpected expense. And the worst part is that you have to have one quickly too. Well my best suggestion is to eat out until you get the new one. Best of luck and ease in hunting for the new one.

I agree. Friends and family have done Alaska, but I just can't get into it. Must be where we live and have lived. We have walked on glaciers in Montana, seen lots of game animals and caught salmon in Oregon. I want sunny, tropical too!! Of course, if DCL goes there and our DIS friends are on the ship we would definately give it a go. :thumbsup2

I so want to go to Alaska on a DCL cruise, especially with my DISboard friends!

I agree with you. Alaska is on my things to do, but warm places totally win everytime!

I don't mind the cold (having lived in CO, NJ, and Germany) as long as it is not raining. The sights of Alaska are so beautiful and pristine as they should not be missed.

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the pics. I still don't have all of them up on my website yet, I'm currently only on Acapulco.

I'll post another link when I get the rest of the actual cruise pics up and loaded. Hopefully will be this weekend.

Shannon is missing not being able to head down the Rocking Bar D and seeing Bubba, V, Steph, Gaylean, Marr and all the "bad influences" (remember Gaylean, I'm the straight laced one!).

I need to extend my thanks to everyone on this cruise who helped to make it so special and memorable. Everyone was so great, I only wish I had more time to sit and talk to everyone, but it just seemed like I was busy running from one thing to another with hardly much time to stop and chat. Panama Canal day seemed to be the best for me just wandering Deck 10 and stopping to chat with everyone all day. It was great!

There is no way I can personally thank everyone for all their efforts on this trip and if I start to mention people by name, I will forget someone and feel bad. So let me just say thank you to everyone, those I met and those I just ran out of time and didn't get to meet. Each of you helped in your own little way to make this journey certainly a magical one for me and my family. And for that I am eternally grateful.

When I first looked at this cruise I was concerned over the number of days at sea as I am not generally one to sit around and do nothing. I like to be moving and doing something. 15 nights with only 5 ports scared the living daylights out of me, thinking I was going to go stir crazy. But I really wanted to try the Canal, and it wasn't everyday you get to do this type of thing so we booked it. And I found this group. This group saved my sanity. Yes, I know it's hard to believe this group actually SAVING the sanity of a person, but it's true. I truly believe that without the ability to meet and interact with the members of this board in the manner that we did, I would have gone stir crazy with the days at sea and the trip would not have been nearly as much fun as it was - not one iota! In fact, this group actually had me looking forward to sea days and dreading the ports when we all went our separate ways. So again, thanks to everyone for really making this one special voyage that can never duplicated again.

Ok group hug and then time to talk football ...

Ken, your photos are so wonderful. Thank you for posting them. I guess I must be one of the "Bad influences" since I helped close out the Rockin Bar D most nights too. The boys and I enjoyed the sea days too and when we did the 6 days crossing the atlantic, they passed by so quickly we were left wondering where did they go so quickly?

It was the people who made this, our very first cruise a trip of a lifetime. I've made friends who I know will be with me for a very long time and I am also grateful for everything that everyone did not only for the cruise, but for us, from the events to the FE to just being there and spending time with us. I too looked forwards to the at sea days and only wished I could have met many of the people I have gotten to know here on the boards. I was very lucky to have met those I did, but I fear another 15 nighter is in order so I can meet the rest.

Michelle, you and Barbara helped make this trip so much more ejoyable for us too. Know if you come back to LA you always have a place to stay.

It seems that a few people have expressed an interest in another 'long cruise' and Hawaii.....

Nancy has a major milestone of a birthday coming up in 2010, and has expressed interest (now that is putting it mildly) in going to Hawaii

How about we try and set up a reunion cruise for the 'possible' DCL trip to the home of 'DOG'...

My feeling is that most of us will need a while to recover from the last one....and it will give us lots of lead time to plan

Any thoughts???

Count us in!

Please Disney put laundry rooms on each floor and put in more washers and dryers and more air conditioning in this area. And while you at it make it larger so people can sit and move around easier.

Last rumor I heard was that when the Magic goes into drydock in Sep, they will put a laundry room on each deck with cabins.

Good Morning Dear...
All I have to say is....
I WANT ALASKA

Agreed

The hardest thing for me on the boat was balancing wanting to see and meet everyone with family time and alone time with Scott......just too much to do and so little time. How do people cruise for just 3 days?! :lmao: So, for those reasons, I didn't get to spend as much time with others as I wanted. :( And, the issue of clubs closing at midnight when the bars stay open until 2, what is up with that? At 1159 Rockin Bar certainly emptied out each night, so unfair!

It was an amazing sight to watch everyone leave the bar just before turning into pumpkins. I can not see how anyone can do a 3 day cruise and be happy. I too wanted more time to meet others as the 15 days went by too quickly.

Ok, now that I have finished replying to everything, and I am guessing I took up almost a full page of my own, I am going to try to read the parts of the last thread I missed.

Hugs to everyone and talk to you again soon.

You guys must not have met Cindy!:lmao:

Good Morning Nan, how are you feeling today? Better I hope.

I told you I am two different people. I'm a Gemini all the way! I don't think people believe me, well they do now!

I actually made a point early on to go and say hi to people with the lanyards on and quite a few said they were just travelling with someone who was a Dis'er. Perhaps some of these people were the ones who didn't say hi.

Quite possible, but then why wear the lanyard?

yes feeling better everyday. Just a little tired. I figure in another week and a half when the kids are out of school I'll be ready to GO, to the pool, to the movies, to the mall, to the beach...hmmmmm are you sensing that I don't wish to work this summer???

I don't want to work too. I want to spend my summer going to all those places with you guys.said in my best wine-e voice

I won't work that much and I can't wait to go to all those places. The beach especially. Sorry V. We will go swimming at night when we stay in Ventura in August, I promise!

To those who have said "thank you" for your CG goodies - you're so welcome! I wanted us all (me included) to have something special to remember that meet with (not that we didn't have the pics or tiara :rotfl: ). I enjoyed making them and those were the 1st crafty things I was able to do since getting depressed last year. I knew that making those things for some amazing women was doing me wonders.

Mandy - sorry but I eavesdropped and "heard" you telling Deb that you booked the 9/12/09 cruise...WOOHOO!

Got a not so nice talking to by the Dr yesterday.....appears my nbrs are really pointing to my being pre-diabetic, so this weekend starts my new lifestyle. I know NOW that I HAVE to be better about what I eat and get my weight & sugar levels under control. Kaylee--I'll be re-reading that email you sent me ages ago (about the 7 day fast). I figured that would be a good way to cleanse everything before buckling down.

Started typing up my tr today....can't wait to be able to download/upload pics to it at home.

I'm sorry to hear about that but sometimes I wonder if finding out something like that would help me lose weight. I was sooooo good when I was pregnant! Let me know how it works out.

darn it, I missed you, I'm going next Tuesday, is it a date? Okay for real, that would be a wonderful suprise overnight get away, would you guys like to make a date?

What about me :moped:

Betsy (Gydel's daughter) came up to Jerry (my DBIL) and introduced herself and thank God she did because they had Jack for a secret Mickey and Jack was suppose to be in Gydel and Betsy's room but moved to another room. We couldn't find poor Jack so :worship: to Betsy, who doesn't even post on here.

Quite possible, but then why wear the lanyard?

Well they were brilliant, comfy and so useful.

Just trying to give folk the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure I walked past some Dis'ers without noticing them though, and I know I did if they were busy or with their friends. I didn't think they would want me interrupting them.:rotfl2:

Monica...thanks for our gifts! Taylor highjacked the tinkerbell, as is typical for her and anything related to Tink.

As for the doc stuff..... Good news is, pre DOES NOT mean you have to go that way.....and it doesn't mean rigid diet either. Jeez, if I had set up that part time practice in Sarasota like I wanted, I could totally be there to help you out! My best words....exercise, fiber and water.

Quite possible, but then why wear the lanyard?

Lanyards are convenient. There aren't just for learning names. I loved mine but I did want everyone to know who I was! Jon MADE me take it off for formal night!
