I'm gonna try Priceline again today for a hotel near WDW for one day prior to our checkin at Pop on 11/27. POP has no rooms left for the 26th, which is when we're planning to come down. We stayed in Kissimmee last year and wouldn't mind trying that location again on Priceline, but I'm wondering about West Disney area. I've never tried that before. Is it a good area? Decent hotels?

We'll only be at whatever hotel we get for one night so we're just needing a clean place in a safe neighborhood that will get us a decent night's sleep after a day of travel. Would anyone recommend Priceline-ing it for West Disney area, or stick with WDW vicinity and Kissimmee?

yes that is the area between US 27 and Kissimmee - it is where Summer Bay and Orange Lake are located.

there is also several chains hotels in this area.

Orange Lake & Summer Bay are down that way but they do not come up on Priceline. The hotels that come up down that way aren't any good. I did it once & will not do that area again unless I was desperate! I got a hotel once that was sooo bad, it seemed to have "ladies of the night" around the resturant! You would be better off doing Universal/SeaWorld area if you cannot get anything in the Disney area. The west Disney area isn't as far as the other area's, I just think the other has better hotels...

WoW - I had no idea that part of town was so bad!!!

Sharon I don't know what I do in that situation.

I though since Orange Lake and Summer bay were there the area around there would be fine.

boy was I wrong!!!

there is a Sleep Inn in that area which is not bad...we got it via easyckicktavel.com to fill out a couple of days last year ...very reasonable rate ( sleep inn internet rate was 59$ we paid something like 23$ )

it is just across from OLCC and part of choice hotels chain, it had been recently refurbished and our room did have a small fridge and microwave in it...

it was not a bad place to stay.....they had complimentaty breakfast and shuttle to closer parks....

West 192 is the Disney area, it is BY FAR the nicer part of 192. I have stayed all the way down 192 from kissimmee down to Orange Lake... In Hotels and vacation homes... trust me WEST is BEST. East of Disney had turned into the pits at one stage although with the work being done on 192 it is improving fast.

Yes there is a cheap hotel or 2 down that way.. but multiply that by 10 the further East you go. West 192 contains some really nice hotels... Nikki Bird... Summer Bay... Silver Lake... Ron Jon etc and some beautiful homes... Formaossa Gardens... Rolling Hills.. Windsor Palms... Oak Island... Emerald Island... Sunset Lakes.

Sorry but one bad hotel does not make a bad area.

Asking about the "West Disney Area" for bidding on Priceline is totally different than staying on West 192 or in the West 192 area that has so many nice condos and rental homes. Priceline is its own animal. It doesn't mean that anyone thinks West 192 is a bad place to stay.

None of the places you mentioned would be included in Priceline's West Disney region. The Nikki Bird is in the "Walt Disney World Vicinity" area on Priceline. The area that Priceline defines as "West Disney" is very small and if you're going to bid for a room, it's probably not the best region to choose based on the safety and quality of motels/hotels that have come up in the past.

No one is saying to stay away from West 192 in general. :)
