We're STILL full!!! 9/22/07 - 9/29/07 Free Dining report W/ pics! COMPLETE 11/14

We got to the MK and were waiting for the party to start, and started to feel a little hungry, so we grabbed some ice cream at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor.

This is the Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough Swirl. I LOVE THIS ICE CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had tasted it on Main Street a few years back and just loved it, even though it IS Edy's and not home made or anything. So imagine my delight when last year I saw it in my local grocery store. DH and I got so excited that we began hording it. Every time it was on sale we'd buy four or five of those things, we just couldn't stop. But about 6 months ago A&P decided they were no longer going to carry this wonderful ice cream, and we have been going through withdrawals ever since. Naturally, we had to stop in and get a dish on this trip!

Ice Cream: $2.69

DH then decided that ice cream wasn't substantial enough, so he wanted a Turkey Leg.

He had never shown much interest in these before, but over the summer at the Renaissance Faire up here, he decided to try one. He declared that one 'gross' with no taste, and I insisted that the ones at Disney were PACKED with flavor and that he wouldn't be disappointed with those. So on a whim as we were traipsing through Frontierland, he stopped and got a turkey leg, which he was really pleased with. He said it was excellent and MUCH better than the one at the Renaissance Faire, and that it could be a good meal by itself. He even was laughing about how it was so much better... go figure. On a side note, he got one at Epcot the next day, and didn't like it at all, saying it was too tough with no flavor. I guess the lesson to be learned is that the turkey legs in Frontierland are the best in the World!

Turkey Leg: $5.49

Later that night, as if we hadn't eaten enough all day, we stopped in to Scuttle's Landing for another of our FAVORITE snacks at the MK - a sweet cream cheese pretzel.

These are so great. A soft, warm pretzel stuffed full of melt-y cream cheese with a hint of sweetness. What's not to like!?!

Pretzel: $3.79

Loved the reports and great pic's! I have sat here devouring all your descriptions! Bravo!:thumbsup2

I have oohed and aahed each pic and review ... and I did my own review off the pic and then get your actual review!!

I thought the sushi from Yakitori looked great - but what a review... But I am pretty sure that ginger is supposed to look the way Yakitori served it. ( That is how I recall it from my organic/macro phase) We are just used to the more processed pink/peachy colored stuff.

I am a breakfast gal and really appreciated all those yummy pics.

THanks for sharing!

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you're enjoying the report! You know, I never thought about the color being affected by the processing, but you're probably right. Unfortunately, that whole meal was a disaster. Maybe it was just an off day...

Thank you for your kind words! I am loving writing this report, because it's bringing back all the fun of the trip.

This was our last day, so even though we were out well past midnight, we wanted to make sure we were at Epcot before WS opened. Surprisingly, we didn't eat much today, but we did have quite a few drinks, which I didn't manage to get pictures of. I guess I was too depressed about the prospect of going home, or maybe it was all of the drinks kicking in! :cool1: Who knows...

I don't remember what we had for breakfast this day, but our first F&W stop was Turkey. I had really wanted to try this the day before, but their credit card machine wasn't working, so that meant we couldn't use our snack credits. I made sure I stopped here first, and got the Manti.

This was described as spiced beef ravioli, with yogurt and paprika butter. The beef had odd spices in it, and the pasta wasn't the typical pasta we think of when we think of ravioli. It was a bit tougher and gritty, more like a won ton. Also, the beef was on the tough side, and you really had to work at chewing it. I did enjoy it, but not enough to order it again.

Manti: $3.50 (1 snack credit)

While I was getting my snack in Turkey, DH wandered to the Germany booth to pick up some Spaetzel and a Beck's Oktoberfest.

The spaetzel had mushrooms on it, which I detest, so I didn't eat much of this, and I tried to pick around them. There was also a white gravy-like sauce on there. The texture reminded me of soggy corn pops, but DH said it wasn't bad. I say, if you want German food, skip the food booth and head into Biergarten, because their food was MUCH better than this. I kind of wish we would have gotten the sausage in the pretzel roll... I wonder why we didn't...

The Beck's was alright. I much prefer the Sam Adam's version of Oktoberfest, finding this one just a little too bitter for my taste. DH enjoyed it and again, declared it 'not bad'.

Spaetzel: $3.00 (1 snack credit)
Oktoberfest: $5.50

Now, I know there was much more that we ate this day. For example, we both made sure we went back to France and each of us ordered our own Quiche, which I didn't take a picture of because you could see it in my previous post. I do remember that the quiche was as wonderful as the day before, but just a little more burnt this time. Other than that, I don't remember what we had and I really don't know why I didn't take any pictures, but I do know that only these would not fill us (especially DH!) up for the entire day, so I am just blanking.

Anyway! The absolute last thing we got (before running back to the UK to see a performance of the British Invasion for DH) was the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.

I had to give this another shot, because I know everyone on these boards raves about it, but about 2 years ago we had eaten at Le Cellier and I just wasn't impressed. But I figured it deserved another chance! So we each got a sample, and I have to say that I really liked it at the first taste, but then the after taste comes and it was just TOO cheddar-y for me. I did notice, though, that it was a lot creamier this time than in 2005. DH loved it, of course! ;)

Soup: $3.00 each (2 snack credits)

Oh, I just remembered, after the British invasion we were on our way to Mouse Gears for one last shopping effort before we needed to head back to POR for the ME, and I stopped to grab a Moet and Chandon Nectar Imperial ($9.00) and DH grabbed a red from Chile, although I do not remember which it was. He was very impressed with the wine, because he's never tried a Chilean wine before, and I thought the Nectar Imperial was decent, but a little off... I can't quite remember why I thought that. I suppose I'll have to give it a try here at home and see what I think now! :)

Well, I want to thank you all for reading my review! I had a great time writing it (even if it did take awhile to complete!). It definitely helped with the 'blues' of coming home, and was a lot of fun to 'relive' the trip.

I did find it a bit annoying at the time, to always have to remember to take pictures. And then after each meal I made sure I jotted down thoughts on the food in a little note book I brought with me, otherwise I knew I would never remember. That's the part that bothered me - I felt that I was paying more attention to what I was writing than just sitting back and relaxing and enjoying my surroundings. But I have to say that now I'm glad I did it. It helped make the reviews as accurate as they could be, and it gave me something to remember and enjoy once I got home. So even though it was a little inconvenient, I'll definitely do it next trip (whenever that may be... ).

DH and I love food - we think that's our favorite thing about WDW. There's so many choices! In fact, when planning our trips, the restaurants are what we spend the most time thinking about, and what we take the longest to plan. For the most part, we were very happy with our choices this trip. We visited many old favorites, and tried some new ones and have to say that we really didn't have many disappointments, other than Yakitori House lunch and Boatwrights breakfast. We most likely won't return to either of those. We will definitely be back to Jiko and CA Grill!

Fall is my most favorite time to visit the World. All the decorations were great, and you just can't beat the Food & Wine Fest. My only regret is that we went before the Festival started and only got to enjoy two rushed days there at the end of our trip. Next year, we will be sure to be there in mid-October, to spend several lazy days wandering the food booths and to take in many of the wine seminars, as well as some of the special paid events, neither of which we got to take in.

So thank you all for following along, and I hope you all enjoyed our culinary 'adventures' like we did! If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer. :thumbsup2

WOwo thank you so much for reviewing!
We made it to F&W last year and really enjoyed it- but you're right you need two days just to oenjoy that!

:thumbsup2 Here's to next year!
