After what feels like a year of planning we are off later this morning. Taxi coming at 3am. Ncl to Heathrow, then out to Orlando :).

1 week in Miami followed by 2 weeks at OKW. Cannot wait! Been some time since I have been (6 years) and my girlfriends first time!

Have a good one guys.

Enjoy! Hope your GF loves it.

I was at Chester Zoo with DD DGD and DGS yesterday and on the Islands trip shared the boat with 2 (very) young couples. They began discussing another couple planning Disneyland Paris who'd invited one couple to join them.

"Why would you"? Said the other lad. "I'm telling you truthfully if you go there then come to Disneyworld with us you'll wonder why you bothered to spend that money".

I had to agree - it's a whole different trip from the parks and resorts to the CM's and the food!

Yikes and Miami is now under a mandatory emergency evacuation because of the hurricane. hope you were able to make other hotel arrangements outside of the evacuation zone.

from what i understand, the evacuations will begin late wednesday or early thursday...
hopefully, they'll already be heading north around the same time..

6 years ago, the last time the entire family visited WDW together, DS and DDIL went to chile in south america first...
when i bought their airline tickets, i had two choices for routing....either via new york or miami..
meaning, on the way to chile, then on the way from chile to WDW and then from WDW back home, they would traverse either new york or miami each time (3 times)
since it was hurricane season, i picked new york as i figured miami had a much higher chance of being under hurricane threat three different times..

but then, wouldn't you know it...the hurricane of the century hit New York and i had to scramble to change their flight to leave WDW via miami instead of new york...
(and get them out of WDW 2 days early)...
you just can't plan for hurricanes no matter what you do...

Hello all,

Update for you. Florida keys evacuating as we speak. We are heading off tomororw am and have a hotel booked at Disney springs for 1 night before checking into OKW. Starting to get slightly nervous now. Still no one is sure where this beast will land. Fingers crossed for all it turns out to sea.

Will keep you updated.

i'll keep my fingers crossed for you too...
but if it does go over land and hit orlando, you'll be in a very safe place!! WDW resort buildings are built to withstand heavy storms...

you'll know the storm is headed for orlando, if they move the guests staying in fort wilderness into the regular resorts..

Take care!

I had friends on I Drive and WDW during last year's Hurricane. Those in WDW felt alot safer and were looked after much better than the I Drive couple!

Note that MCO is shutting 5pm Saturday, which means it is likely the parks will all close too (I assume Epcot especially has alot of taking stuff down to do!)

WDW is going to have an issue with all the construction stuff up...
the permanent buildings are built to stay, but all the temporary construction structures will pose a danger during the storm..

the regular temporary stuff (like food and souvenir carts) will be removed to storage before the storm hits..

My tip is to keep an eye on social media when you are at Disney from Friday onwards.
I knew more about opening and closing times for last years hurricane from the UK then my parents did who were camped in their rooms at POR as social media was all over it.
Disney is super safe in a hurricane - i was part of the ride out crew in 2004 when we had 3 hurricanes and its remarkable how quickly you can pack up the park when you have to!
Get snacks for your room, charge up your devices and hang tight - they will completely look after you :)
But also fingers crossed that it weakens as it hits land!
