Your day at Universal sounds AMAZING! I am so glad that Clay got to meet Fred! How cool is that! And the extra time he spent with him. I sat here crying! I hope Clay remembers this trip always!

What a great trip report! I am not sappy at all and I got teary reading about Clay meeting Fred and riding the Mummy with him. And the picture from the ride, Fred it looking at Clay to make sure he is having fun, so sweet! You'd better write that e-mail so his bosses know what a great person he is!

My husband insists on taking pictures on the safari ride at animal kingdom. I call them the blurry animal collection because they are all out of focus. At least now with digital I can just erase them when we get home!

Don't beat yourself up about the pool thing. My youngest started screaming for help and I was right there watching her. And she is an excellent swimmer.

I can't wait to hear the rest of your report!

Amy
Okay, I am crying now too. What a wonderful story about Clay and Fred. I had to read the whole story to Mike, Mandy and Tim and my cute MIL who is here visiting us. I didn't mention BTMR though! My kids love ScoobyDoo where are you? Fred will be my favorite from now on!

I love Dr Seuss too. Probably my favorite book is Sneetches. I love Too Many Daves and "Pale Green Pants" (I'm not sure if that is the name) One of my very favorite lines in all children's books is in that story--"I do not fear those pale green pants with nobody inside them, I said and said and said those words. I said them but I lied them!" I read the entire book to any child who will sit down with me anytime, anywhere. My grandkids know that I can read most of it by heart so they think I'm cheating when I read it to them.:rotfl:

I am so excited to hear more!
Denise

OH, AMY!!! I am just thrilled w/ your TR.

1. It makes me so happy and proud to see the outfits made by my dear friends being loved by a family. All of them are great but I especially like the mickey shirt and skirt Denise made- she is my idol, she's so creative!!!

2. That girl doesn't even LOOK like Wendy!!!

3. My husband also takes pics of the scenery.....annoying isn't it. On our last trip I got a picture of a bee on a flower.. However cool a picture it was HOW am I ever supposed to know it was from MK????:confused3

4. I JUST LOVE THE BABY THINGS 1 & 2!!!!! You can tell that Shay Lynne was a goofball from the start:rotfl: :rotfl:

I can't wait to hear more...although my Dh is probably wishing I'd shut up about your TR!!!

...t.
Funny that your husband is part of the boring picture club, too. YES, it is very annoying!!

You will get to see Denise's outfit again on our next day, Day 6!!

"Goofball" doesn't describe the half of it! Shay Lynne is such a funny girl!! And did you see how Clay was copying her silly face? That's how it always was when they were younger--it was almost always Shay Lynne's idea!

Oh and I really WISH I had this picture from my wedding in my computer...I'll try to scan it in tomorrow. I have really fine hair and after the first dance and father daughter dance I wanted to take out my veil (this was the plan all along) BUT my hair was so fine that the added pressure of the 2 combs nesstled next to each other was actually holding my tiara in so it kept falling out. My dads cousin is a hair stylist and had done my hair for the wedding so she grabbed a fork and starting teasing that section of my hair to get the comb to stay in.. OF COURSE my photographer thought this was a photo op..:rotfl: Just so you know, even the pros have forked a head or 2!!!

...t.
That is so hilarious. Please post that pic!! I'm glad to know my techniques are considered professional! You do what you have to do when you're desperate!!

Thank you for reading, Tifani!!!

Amy, I absolutely LOVE your trip report. I can't get off my computer, because I'm constantly checking for updates. I'm a complete sucker for all the photos! If you have any of the inside of your GKTW villa, would you mind posting some of those. I know that was probably completely obnoxious of me, but I LOVE pictures!! And I like to see things ahead of time. (I even peek at Christmas presents  )
You're doing a great report!!
Misty
Thank you, Misty!! We took a few, and I just saw HeatherN's TR and she posted a few, too. Her villa was actually prettier than ours! But ours was plenty nice, for sure. Please excuse the messy table. The kids tore into the snacks and toys immediately. Here you go...

I didn't get a pic of it, but there was a second bathroom, too. That was so nice for a family of our size!! The kids had the nicer bathroom, which I thought was appropriate since that place exists because of children! Maybe between my pics and Heather's pics, you can get a good idea of what to expect. I love to know what my presents are ahead of time, too!

I know he will, and we will as well. I am so, so, so glad we didn't miss Universal! But I think it could be a separate trip all on its own.

Thank you for making me feel better about our episode at the pool. That's funny about your collection of blurry animal pics! What did we ever do without digital? Had lots of wasted prints due to husbands, I guess!!! Thank you for following along. :)

Fred is forever my fave, too! If you watched the video you saw that Daphne was really, really sweet, too--but they all were, even Scooby. When I look at all those pics of the Gang and all of them in front of The Mystery Machine, my heart just melts at the memories!!

I loved hearing about your favorite Seuss stories!! When you've read them over and over you can pretty much quote the whole thing by heart without looking. Our fave is probably either Grinch or Cat in the Hat or Green Eggs and Ham (we loved meeting Sam I Am!). Clay is such a picky eater that it fits him so well. Every once in a while I'll make the kids green eggs and ham, and they love it! Except this weekend Clay decided he wanted red eggs and ham. That was one gross-looking omelet!! The other kids weren't too wild about the red eggs!! Running into all those Seuss characters at IOA was definitely another magical moment because we hadn't seen them on our first day there.

Right...I'll just put down the box of kleenex now so I can let you know how much I am loving your trip report!!!

Today we went to a Starlight Starbright fundraiser and we met a few of the staff (Starlight is the wish organization for Mark's wish). One of them was so sweet when she was talking again about what makes granting wishes so special to them.

She needn't have explained. I have learned it all here...reading your report. Your story of all that your wish granters, GKTW, WDW and (especially, it seems) Universal, not to mention your friends from our Wish group and the marvellous DISboutiquers have done for your family have made it all REAL. You know, right now, I feel like we have already been blessed to be sharing your trip with you!

Our wish child, Mark, is also a HUGE fan of Scooby Doo and the gang. He would absolutely FREAK if I told him of Clay's magic, but I daren't, because I can't build up his expectations. Of course, if you have any idea how to get a peek at that Mystery Machine, and the gang... He's particularly fond of Scooby, but has great respect for Velma and thinks Shaggy is a hoot. He has said he'd love to be able to eat like Shaggy and Scooby...which for a kid who relies on a feeding tube for supplemental nutrition is pretty interesting.

We're just back from vacation and I caught up with your TR tonight. I have so enjoyed sharing the joy and wonder of your family's wish trip with all of you. You all look so wonderful in the matching Wish t-shirts - and it did make me remember to tell my husband that Starlight will probably give us shirts to wear so he needs to be ready (men!). And those customs on the twins - priceless and precious...what an amazing gift from the DISBoutiquers.

I am looking forward to reading more!!!

Welcome back!
Alison

Ok Amy, I am bawling now! I just loved that Clay met his idol.Great pics and what a wonderful guy.I love the people who just understand how important this is to our kids.

Thank you, Alison--you are so sweet. You are always so eloquent and articulate. Thank you for being happy for us! It really is fun to retell it all and to know that others enjoy hearing about it. So many times people dread talk of other families' vacations, but I love how on this board it's not that way at all. We have been truly blessed to have had the experience of a lifetime and to have had so many working together on our behalf to make it all happen. I understand what you're saying about not getting Mark's hopes up about Scooby and the Gang. I'm not at all sure about this, but for some reason I've gotten the idea that it's most common to run into Shaggy and Scooby, but not always the entire Gang complete with The Mystery Machine. You could probably email Universal and get an answer. I'm surprised I didn't do that before we went, but I knew it might be hard to be tied to a time schedule and I really didn't dream Clay would get to run into Fred the way he did. Like you, I didn't want to get his hopes up, so we focused on all the other characters he loves. We were there on a Saturday, and I've wondered if that had anything to do with it. It seems that every wish trip has its own magic, and I cannot wait to hear what Mark encounters! I'm sure he'll have the trip of a lifetime the way Clay did--Scooby or no Scooby. I'm sure you can't wait to see what magic comes your way, either!

Amy, you really are a sweetheart! Thanks so much for the pictures!!

I also wanted to say how great I think your older kids are too. I know they're not that "old" but in every photo, they are so into it and participating as much as the twins. What a great big sister and big brother. You should be very proud. It looks to me like you're doing a great job with your kids!:lovestruc

I also love this board for the joy that we all feel for each other's trips! I still can't get over how excited I am when someone from here goes on their trip or comes back. It's inexplainable, but I love it!!!

Aww! You make me cry! Thank you so much for saying all that. The highest compliment anyone can ever pay me is to say sweet things about my children. I am so proud of all my kids, and Ty and Madison truly are wonderful to their little brother and sister. They all fight all the time (well, the only two that don't usually fight with each other are Madison and Clay), but they really do look out for each other. I love having four kids, although I'm not organized enough to do it very well.

I can see why people stay on this board. Reading others' TRs is a great way to relive our own trips. :)

I think for the most part, all the characters are truly about people. If they didn't like people, they wouldn't be doing those jobs. And I guess a lot of the time they are really affected by these wish kids. It really is moving. I can't wait to hear all about Hannah's and Logan's adventures.

Amazing trip report! I too am going through kleenex while reading it. The Village is an amazing place - I've been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to be out there a few different times.

As far as the Scooby gang, I believe they may be out in the streets during the summer and other peak times (Christmas and Spring Break), but Scooby and Shaggy are there year round. You can contact Universal through the Guest Services Department (the Wish foundation may be able to help with this as well), and set up something through them to find out where and when you can meet up with Scooby and Shaggy (if all else fails, check at Guest Services when you arrive in the morning as well, they can help then as well). If you show your Wish or GKTW button to the escorts for any of the other characters, you should be escorted to the characters as well without waiting in the line.

Looking forward to reading more about the trip!

Amy...
Thank you for sharing your magical trip with us. I feel as if I was right there with you. I am so glad Clay and the rest of the family had a great time.
It was wonderful and inspirational to read what all everyone shared with you and your family to make this a wish/dream come true. I love the outfits and little gifts that everyone from the Dis sent you.
But in my opion Clay and the other children have the greatest gift ever and that is such a loving family. You are truly a remarkable mother.May all that God has planned for you and your family be happy ones.
Looking forward to reading more.

Is Jonah as sad today as I am? It is torture having to go back!! I'm so depressed!!!! Now I can't constantly play on DIS anymore!! In fact, I shouldn't be on right now. :( :( :(

It's great to have ALL of you following along!! :) Thank you all for your kind words.:grouphug:

Why can't I find this TR on my sub list? Oh well...subbing now so I can go back and read about how your trip went! Welcome home!

He was ready to go until we got in the van. Then when we got to the school and saw his new classmates he really got upset and then he saw his nurse (love her) he was o.k. until it was time for me to leave. I'm going to worry about him all morning. The kids in his class are not behaved like the ones he was with last year. I'm just praying that they don't rub off on him or set him back any.

I hope you have a good day at school.

I am utterly impressed by the theming of the resort! Truly amazing and what a wonderful place for children who have suffered so much to be enthralled in Magic!

Thank you for sharing so much of your trip. There was so much to do in your stay. I bet you all were exhausted when you arrived back home.

Do you volunteer at GKTW? I would love to!! Thank you for the info on US. After what you've said, I feel even more that we were just lucky!!

Hope I have this quoting thing right - I've been lucky enough to volunteer through work (wish I had more availability to do so!) both at GKTW and at the Boogy Creek Gang Camp (similar to the Hole in the Wall Gang camps) just north of Orlando. Both are amazing, and I love the way the entire family is nutured and cared for as well as the amazing things they do for so many people!

Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

We were so completely exhausted! It's always good to be home, but this is the first time on vacation that I truly was sad to be leaving.

I'm trying to get there...today was my first day back to work since early June, and I'm dragging!! I'm working on the pics now, though.

Thank you all for reading!
