Wow your trip is almost here, I can't believe it! :cool1:

Yay for Mousekeeping envelopes, printing those out is always one of my favorite pre-trip things to do! :yay:

12 days until we leave!! I can't believe it. It doesn't seem like it's that close at all.

BUT I have a little bit of a problem that's really worrying me!!!

About a year ago I found out I have a hiatal hernia, which basically means part of my stomach is above my diaphragm (it should be all below) and pushing into my esophagus which causes heartburn and pain. It's fine though, I'm on meds that reduce the acid that's produced and it's definitely better.

BUT now I'm having issues with my esophagus. I don't think it's working properly - as far as swallowing completely. Food gets stuck in my throat often, blah blah blah.

But the MAIN thing that's concerning me now is that whenever I drink frozen beverages, I can actually feel it staying in my esophagus WAAAAY longer than it should (like it's not going down) and it HURTSSSSSS because it's so cold. It's like major brain freeze with every sip.

Can you see why this is especially an issue for me for this trip??!?!?!!?!

My favorite thing to do is have a mango margarita and now I'm really scared that I'm not going to be able to enjoy them this time. It's trivial but I feel like it's going to ruin my trip!!

I made a doctor's appointment for Monday. I mean, I don't think they're going to be able to fix me in under 10 days so I don't really know what I expect. I guess I'll be going inside to the Ditch for some margaritas on the rocks.....but that mango!! :sad2:

I'm sorry you are having problems with your esophagus. :( that really stinks. And not going to be able to have a mango margarita will stink even more! But I know you will have a great trip otherwise! :goodvibes I hope the doctor can do something for you on Monday!

Um, that is AWFUL!!! I hope they can fix it!!!

I didn't know you had that. My grandma had that too. Just keep up on it. My grandmas stomach flipped inside out. Of course she was diagnosed many years ago before they really had as good medical care.

Awww!! Sorry you are having so many troubles! Hopefully they will be able to tell why it is worse now.

Maybe you can get by with just taking it slow on the Margarita and having small sips?

Oh no I hope it gets better for your trip. Have you talked to your doctor about it?

Yes, I'm sure we'll have a great trip regardless! Just a bummer.

Right?! It's weird because I'm trying to figure out when it first started happening. Obviously I had the frozen drinks in February without and problems!

Yeah I've always had heartburn but a little over a year ago, it started getting really bad, like pretty much constant so I had an endoscopy and was diagnosed with that. The doctor's seem to think a medicine to control the amount of acid my stomach is producing is all that's needed but I just think it's getting worse and affecting my esophagus. And my God, her stomach flipped inside out?! What happened?

I really hope they will be able to at least do some tests to find out what's going on. I don't think they'll be able to "fix" me in ten days but to have an answer would be nice. Yes, I'm thinking small sips will work. I was practicing with my Frappe the other night. Taking big sips is VERY painful but it was do-able with small sips.

Oh no I hope it gets better for your trip. Have you talked to your doctor about it?

Thanks! I'm going on Monday. Unfortunately, my doctor is on vacation so I'm seeing someone totally new, which makes me nervous because she doesn't know my history and I feel kind of stupid....

Dr.: So what brings you here today?
Me: I think there's something wrong with my esophagus.

Well keep this in mind....she had this for years. Like maybe 20- 40 years....or longer......When the stomach flipped she was very old. They did surgery and she never really recovered from it and she died a few months later. But like I said, she was very old and had it for most of her life.
She also did NOTHING to try and make it better besided medication. She was big on taking pills for anything and everything. But part of her problem is that she would eat in her chair in front of the TV and she would almost be laying back a bit doing so and they said that was the worst thing to do. She was very overweight too, no excercise of any sort. She basically sat in her chair all day long for the last 15 years of her life.

No I would be the same way. Hopefully she can help you.

Thanks. She sent me to a gastroenterologist, who I saw today. He's sending me for some "video flouroscopic study" which I can't get an appointment for until AFTER the trip.

So it'll be small sips on the first margarita and if I can't handle it, it'll have to be on the rocks. :sad2:
