"We're keeping the moon!" Another Nikki and Tom Adventure! TR link PG. 37!!

Day 5 ~ February 5, 2012 (Last day)

We got up at a reasonable hour and brought our bags down to airline check-in. After taking care of that business and taking on one last walk through the WL lobby, we headed to the bus stop.

Where were we headed??

Epcot, of course!

DSC_0828.jpg

We got there around 9:20 and headed straight to Soarin' hoping to be able to just ride without getting a FP. On the way, we passed the little area that has the names of scientists and inventors and noticed someone had placed flowers on Louis Pasteur's name. No idea why, but it was nice so we took a pic!

DSC_0829.jpg

EVERY time we walk into The Land pavilion, I can't stand how hard it is to get up that hill!! Haha! Seriously, though, it's such a pain!

DSC_0831.jpg

Once we finally made it in, the standby line said only 10 minutes. So we grabbed FPs for later and hopped in line, which btw, was WAAY longer than 10 mins!

Great ride, as always!

After Soarin, we made it a priority to ride Test Track at least one more time, knowing this would be the last chance we got to see it in it's current form.

On the way, we stopped to admire the big field of grass and noticed that it had spikes in it. We assumed they were getting ready for planting all the flowers for the festival!

Then on to Test Track....

"Did you forget to turn off those robots?"

"Set for Track Course A!"

At this point, it was nearing 11am and you know what that means?? World Showcase is about to open!!

We went to the left and saw the little opening show in Mexico. I never knew that they did an opening! I'm assuming they do this for every country. I'd love to see them all.

First thing's first!

Tom skipped the 'rita this time for a drink he spotted earlier in the trip in China!

"And if you look around World Showcase you'll see America, Japan, Morocco and the lovely country of Swalphania!"

I really love your trips to Epcot. They are my favorite parts to read. You guys always seem to have the best times there and it makes me so want a drink. This summer I really need to start drinking more around the world. What are your two most favorite drinks that you think I should try?

I am incredibly late in finding your TR, but I have loved all your others and there was no way I could miss out on this one. :goodvibes

By the way, I just added the West Africa Trek to my list of to-dos

Yes, you really must do the Wild Africa Trek! It was amazing and I highly recommend it. :thumbsup2 Glad you found the TR! Better late than never!

Ooooh, good questions! My two favorite drinks are the mango margarita from Mexico and the grey goose slushie from France. Both can be a little much on the acid reflux so sometimes I switch it up and get a beer. :thumbsup2

The land of Swans and dolphins and if you are lucky you might spot a unicorn!

Yeah, Epcot!!! I don't know if I told you about my effort to try new things on my solo trip a couple weeks ago but I tried a really yummy drink - a frozen bacardi mojito. It was at the Refreshment Port just as you walk into world showcase and head for Canada. It was a clear slushy. I liked that there were no artifical colors in it and it tasted exactly like a mojito! And being frozen was a fun twist on the mojito. I'm sure it was just from some big container of slushy which normally I wouldn't find very tasty but this really was! I can't wait to get it again when I'm back in July :thumbsup2 And the pomegrante margarita at La Cava - super yummy!

But I was not keen on the lime sake cocktail from Japan. It was ok but it had a really sake taste and for that, I could have just gone inside and had good sake and a conversation with some of my favorite world showcase cast members.

I just finished this whole report in one sitting...love reading your reports!

We first saw you two when you were taking a picture of Tom with his pineapple drink at 'Ohana on your honeymoon. We were two tables away and I remember thinking....ooh someone else taking pictures of their food! That pineapple looks cool!

Imagine our surprise when we saw the photo in your TR later! It was so awesome that we remembered seeing it taken. Since then, I always look forward to your reports!

Wow, I didn't know the country of Swalphania existed! Good to know, good to know.

Love getting to WS right when it opens. It's so much more relaxing that way.

Your reports make me long for the World Showcase! I didn't know they did a opening show in Mexico...I hope they do it for all of the countries--I'd LOVE to see them all! Something to remember when we stay at Beach Club hopefully in 2013! :thumbsup2

Coming in late. Thanks for the heads up int the August 2012 thread. LOVE all your pictures! popcorn::

Let me see if I can say this without coming across as a total lush...

So I think you are the best possible person for me to have toured Epcot with! One of my most favorite parts of ANY vacation is the beveragees. I love "boat drinks" on cruises, new bars in new cities I visit, and above all, drinking in the World Showcase. Now, I DO NOT routinely get drunk on vacation or any other time, but something about being able to have a tasty aduld beverage while wandering the world is it's own special kind of magic. I know a lot of people don't drink often, and I respect that, and would never want to make a fool out myself by getting trashed in public let alone at Disney, but I do enjoy drinking around the world. Ok, I pretty much do sound like a lush, but I swear I'm not! Plus usually I have Jack with me so I definitely do not get to indulge when I am responsable for a relatively willfull 4 year old. That is all.

Oh and I'm thrilled that you got the bag issue fixed, and I'm glad you were honest about the sale price, I would have done the same!

Ya know, I only tried a mojito once and I was not a fan but mostly because I was sucking up leaves and I didn't like it. I think I might have to try to the frozen!!

Yay! So glad you found the report and are enjoying it. That is SOOOO funny that you were at 'Ohana with us on our honeymoon!! Small world, right??

Oh we love getting there right when it opens too! Especially on the last day when we just want to take it easy and soak it all in before going home.

I am ALWAYS longing for World Showcase! That would be so awesome if you could stay at the Beach Club! I've always wanted to stay in one of the Epcot resorts but they are just so expensive!

Coming in late. Thanks for the heads up int the August 2012 thread. LOVE all your pictures! popcorn::

Glad you are here!!

Okay Stephanie - I TOTALLY agree! I am exactly the same way. I hardly ever drink. We got out to the movies and I'll get a beer or two or if we go out to dinner I'll get a beer but never crazy drinking. I don't know what it is about Epcot that just makes me want to drink! But at the same time, I totally respect the fact that I'm in a family park. Ahh! I wish you could meet us in Epcot every time we go!!

Love the replacement Vera!

Haha, ugh, I hate that walk up to the Land pavilion! Then walk all the way to Soarin'...seriously, it must be like 5 miles before you actually get to go on Soarin'!

I wish we went on TT one last time before it closed, I don't think we went on it at all in December. :(

I can't wait to be in the World Showcase again and drinking margaritas! It was too hot for drinking in May, I'm going to make up for it in November! :rotfl2:

Yesss!!! You are so right! The fact that once you finally get inside and then have to walk another mile to get to the ride....sucks!!

Too hot for drinking a Margarita?! Honey, the margarita is FROZEN! It was MADE for hot weather! MEXICO!!

Ya know, I only tried a mojito once and I was not a fan but mostly because I was sucking up leaves and I didn't like it. I think I might have to try to the frozen!!

I do enjoy a good mojito (my garden grows mint as a weed so its EVERYWHERE!) but the slushy did not have any mint leaves in it - it was fine with me because it wasn't messy and still tasted yummy. But, it definitely tastes like a mojito so it does taste like lime and mint.

Joining the party late. Just saw that you will there in August as well. I'll be down August 8 and 9. I think I may miss you bummer. I plan on going back and reading your TR.

Hi, I'm really enjoying your report. It brings back many fond memories of my prechildren trips with hubby.
Thanks again for sharing!!
Lisa

I bought a Very Hipster bag last fall (my first Vera) and while I actually wasn't fond of the size (I'm short, that bag is very long), I did love how lightweight the bag was and that you could wash it. So since then, I've bought quite a few Vera items but mostly cosmetic bags and accessories. And I swore off buying anything more this spring so I could save some money. Well, I saw your post on the Lizzy and HAD to go check it out  And then Vera sent me a discount...so I had to at least LOOK...I ended up buying the Lizzy in Twirly Birds!

e9df59bd.jpg

I love the way it looks and know I can fit everything in it but my sunglasses and water. I found a clip on sunglass case at Disney that I can clip to the outside of the bag. And I'm going to get a water bottle holder too. I've seen clip ones out there and am going to try for that but if not, I will buy one of those lightweight holders that I could scrunch up on the purse if I don't have a water bottle on me. We bring 2 bottles of water for each person so I'll need to hold one at least.

I also bought some Vera accessories in Deco Daisy (red, black, and white colors) to go inside a new Disney Couture bag I bought at Tren-D in May. I wanted to be Mickey color coordinated :cool1:

25381732.jpg

Those are the wristlet (I love anything that clips on to other bags or you can use as a pull out smaller bag!!!), the double kiss coin purse (I have it already in twirly birds pink as my regular wallet and I love it), and a pencil pouch. Even though the pencil pouch matches the other items, I may end up using it for my scrapbooking stuff...or, I might keep it in a big bag as a liquids holder or something else. It actually has a clear side and then the color side so I can see the stuff in it when it is closed.

Anyway, I just had to let you know that your updates about your Vera bag got my obsession going again  But I swear - NO MORE...until Vera sends me another discount???

More great Vera Bradley finds! VB can be addicting :rolleyes1 I convince myself that the sale price is perfectly ok to splurge on because it truly is a great product :)

I think that sounds like somehting I would like! Definitely on "to-drink" list! ;)

Hey Lisa! Oh isn't it the best? People don't understand how we go so often without kids but my thinking is, if/when we have kids, they will RUIN our Disney trips as we know them! Hahaha! :lmao:

Oh awesome!!!! I have a feeling the Lizzy is going to be perfect! You are right, the hipster is just too long. Ooooh, they are so tricky with sending discounts! I get an email from them every other day. It's so hard to resist!

Sooo addicting! Not a good thing that they just opened a store in the mall near me but at least I don't have to buy online and pay shipping anymore!
