I don't know what's wrong with me! Such a long time since my last update. But this trip still has one more night and a final day so let's get it done!
Day 4 cont. February 4, 2012
So we had had a wonderful day appreciating all the things we normally pass by at DHS and headed back to the Wilderness Lodge to change and relax for a bit before heading to the MK for the evening.
This whole trip I was nervous about being cold at night. I get cold very easily. You may even remember me in jeans and a cardigan in some of my pictures from my July trip last two years ago. I like to be warm! So we both got changed so we would be more comfortable. Then we decided to go down to the pool bar and get a drink before hopping the boat the MK.
Oh, I forgot to mention! Although it was February 4, when Tom ordered the Sam Adams seasonal from Sci-Fi at lunch that afternoon, imagine our surprise when the waiter said they JUST switched to the Spring brew that day! SPRING!! In the beginning on February! Now I'm not a fan of the dark Winter brew but I do like the Spring (Alpine Springs, it's called) so we both had that with lunch.
So when we went down to the pool bar and ordered the Sam Adams Seasonal, imagine our surprise once more when she poured us both the Winter brew. Boooo! That was fine though. Because there was an unexpected treat on the horizon!
We brought our drinks around the back of the bar to sit at the tables and just take in the view.
While we were getting our drinks, I definitely smelled something burning - like a campfire or something. So once we were around the other side, we saw where it was coming from. There was a campfire going on the beach and they were getting ready to roast marshmallows! How awesome! It's just one of those many many little things that Disney does to go above and beyond to completely immerse the guests in every minute of their vacation!
So of course, I was all over it once they started handing out sticks and marshmallows!
YUM!!
So after we finished our drink, it was just about dusk and we made our way down the winding path to the boat dock.
Earlier in the trip, I had taken a pic of Tom doing his best Steamboat Willie impression so now it was my turn.
Some more pics from the boat ride over.....
When we finally go to the MK, we realized quickly it was SUPER crowded!
I don't know if this pic was taken on the way in or the way out so here it is!
We got an FP for Buzz Lightyear and then rode Carousel of Progress LOVE that ride! Something happened midway through which caused the ride to hiccup and we had to watch one scene twice, which was kind of annoying but whatever!
To kill time before our FPs, we stopped at the Lunching Pad to get a frozen coke and a turkey leg...only to find out that they don't sell turkey legs there. I swear they used to, right?? Oh well, Tom would have to wait for his turkey leg. I remember there being a looong line and I kept thinking, why is it so crowded tonight?!
While I was thinking that, I took a pic of these rotating pretzels!
Then it was time to use our FPs for Buzz. Even with a FP, there was a little bit of a line - maybe 10 minute. But that was okay because I noticed a woman in front of us had a 40th Anniversary pin on her bag! So of course, I had to tell her that we were there for the 40th too. So we chatted with her and her group while waiting in line. She recently became local and just went to MK on the 40th for the day. She also couldn't believe how insanely crowded it was!
So pretty shortly we were on the ride. I swear I thought I knew where they take your picture so I thought I'd pose this time. Well apparently, I was WAY off because when we got off the ride and went to look at or pic, this is what we found!
How funny! I love this picture. Looks like the most fun ride ever, right? Haha!
These were our scores.
I won, of course!
After the ride, Tom still had a hankering for that turkey leg so we made our way to Frontierland. Just as he was getting his snack, Wishes started. We weren't going to rush to a spot so we just sat and watched whatever we could see from where we were.
Next stop, Pirates!
Unfortunately, we had a flasher on our boat! You know what I mean - ANNOYING!
Next stop was it's a small world. Tom was thrilled, can you tell?
I really like this picture I took on that ride.
We decided to make our way back to Tomorrowland because we really wanted to ride TTA. I don't remember why we didn't ride it while we were in Tomorrowland ealier - I think it was shut down or maybe the line was too long. Yes you heard me correctly - LINE! Even now, when we came back, this is what it looked like.
Pretty soon, we were zipping around that highway in the sky! I really think this might be the best ride ever!
We made our way to the hub and just sat and stared at the castle for a while. I was playing around with the camera settings and trying to get a good castle night shot. This was the best I got.
Then I had Tom go sit on that bench. He didn't really know what for or I'm sure he would've posed or at least smiled!
And then we left! Good night MK! See you in August!!!
