It'll be our first time WDW in general, so I really would like to know some juicy details and tips about POFQ! :thumbsup2

We'll be at POFQ Dec 7-14..when are you going?? ..We really enjoy the peace and tranquility of this resort. Taking a stroll along the riverside is quite nice. I',m rushed for time right now..will post more later!!

Go to POR one evening and see Bob Jackson's show. You'll have a great time.

It's a great small resort. We stayed in room 3334 in building 3 and loved it. Was one room from the end closest to the main building where the restaurant is and even though it was a standard view we had trees blocking the view of the parking lot. We were close enough to the pool yet far enough away that we didn't hear the noise in the evening although there probably won't be much swimming going on when you are there.

The food court is good...nothing really special but certainly not bad by any means. We ate our breakfast there on our off days when we weren't in a hurry to get to the parks and found the selection pretty good. Ate one lunch there with no complaints either. I do wish this resort had a table service restaurant though.

While we were there they added card readers to the video games in the arcades so you don't need change which is nice so you don't have to mess with change.

We didn't do the boatride to Downtown Disney but I understand it is relaxing and a nice change of pace.

I love POFQ! Its small enough to walk around the resort in a short period of time, but large enough so you don't feel cramped. The beignets in the morning at the food court are incredible. DD and I ate them almost every morning. I really liked the boat trip to DTD. It was very relaxing. A word of caution though, and don't laugh, make sure you scan the area when you get off of the boat at DTD. We got lost after shopping and couldn't find the dock back and had to take a bus back to the resort :lmao:. DH was so mad and DD (15) and I were laughing our heads off. Disney is NOT the place to stress about things like that. Oh, in the evenings when we were there (last year), they had a characterist in the lobby drawing portraits. Our's was great. Um, that's all I got now (can you tell how much I like the resort?) Have a great time!

We will be there Dec 10-18. Our 4th to WDW but our first to POFQ. We've stayed at POR (the sister resort) and strolled through POFQ one night in January. It was so quiet, almost like nobody was staying there. It is very nicely landscaped and the street layout is so quaint. You will feel 1000 miles away from the hustle and bustle of the parks. The boat ride is so peaceful and I would suggest taking a walk (or boatride) to POR and eating at Boatwright's. They have the best cornbread! Mmmm, I can taste it already. That's the beauty of staying there. You get the best of both resorts.

Have fun and enjoy! :sunny:

We stayed there for the 1st time last Dec and LOVED it!!!! We're going back this Oct.

As others have said, the landscaping is beautiful and the grounds are lovely to stroll. Taking the boat to DTD can't be beat. It was nice walking over to see POR too. We didn't book a carriage ride but I think that would have been nice. It is a relatively compact resort which is nice. Easy to get to the foodcourt, pool, buses and boat. Bus svc is wonderful. You're the 1st p/u and the 1st d/o. We were able to swim several of the nights during our dec trip. Temps were in the high 70s still at night. Though a few days later when we transfered to a diff't hotel for dh's business trip it was rainy and in the 50s. You never know what you'll get in Dec. :confused3

The foodcourt was good, not as large a selection as ASMo but much better than POR (in my humble opinion). True, no TS restaurant, but that's ok, we tend to do those in the parks or Monorail resorts.

I think you will really love the hotel. Oh, do you have children? The pool has a great water slide coming out of a sea serpent. You can go to allearsnet.com and see some great pics.

First I wanted to thank everyone for their info!! It will help us (me) greatly!

As for me having children, not quite.. I still am one. :rotfl: Ten, by the biological clock..
Have a wondeful night! :Pinkbounc

I have to echo the sentiments about the boat ride to DTD. It's very nice. I'm thinking of taking the boat from DTD to POFQ for some beignets on our upcoming trip. They aren't Cafe DuMonde beignets, but they aren't half bad....

My 10 year old son had a great stay there with us last year in December. It's small enough that he went by himself to refill his mug and stop at the arcade. He loved the pool too. The boat ride to DTD is wonderful and one night we rode the bus over to POR and after dinner we came back by boat. The buses were great and since we were the first stop it was not usually to bad finding a seat. The food court I thought had a great selection and the beignets are really good. They have a nice gift shop also!!!!

ENJOY your visit!!!!!! :woohoo:

We spent Christmas at POFQ last year and we loved it! Just have fun and enjoy the Cajun Christmas music that they play over the speaker system throughout the resort!

I can't wait to go this year 10/22-10/29!!!
My DD, 13, loves anything cajun, so this will be a treat for her!
I'll have a beinget for everyone!!!

We went to POFQ in 12/04 and loved it so much that's where we're staying this year 11/30-12/4! We loved that at POFQ, we were picked up by the buses (and dropped off) before POR, so there were always seats. And we did the carriage ride and it was so much fun. Can't wait until 11/30..maybe I'll see you there!
