We're drawing names....

With the economy being this bad, I understand the desire to just draw names. However, that's something that should be discussed by Thanksgiving.
If it makes you feel better, my Mother told me yesterday that our family yankee swap is to be a $25 gift card attached to some small gift that goes with it. So off I go to exchange the gifts I all ready bought :sad2:

I just found out, my husband's family has decided to draw names! Yippee! **major sarcasm intended**

It's a few days before Christmas, and they've 'decided' to draw names.

That's flipping wonderful, considering * I already had everyone's presents * - which my husband being the youngest of NINE - is A LOT of them!!

Not to mention all the nieces and nephews.

I'm just whining. :upsidedow

Look on the bright side. Maybe you will get something from Spencers ;)

Doesn't help your situation but perhaps will give you a laugh...
A couple years ago DH's family told us the day before a large extended family gathering that those who saw each other a few days earlier on Christmas thought it would be fun to do one of those $5-10 "steal a gift" type exchanges when we all got together (and, no, we hadn't exchanged gifts in like 15 years with the extended group :confused3). Since we were visiting other family at the time and had no notice, we ran out to Walmart once we arrived at their house and bought about 50 packs of $0.10 ramen noodles and wrapped it all up in a nice big, pretty bag! :rolleyes1

I'm kinda surprised everyone else went along with this. NO ONE bought anything?? Geez Louise.

No wonder we get things like Moose Munch and Monkey Calenders, as gifts. :lmao:

I wouldn't mind at all. I haven't done any shopping yet. I was planning to Wednesday night. However, I just found out my BIL is throwing a party at a club Wednseday night. So now nI won't start shopping until Thursday morning.

One can only hope. :cloud9:

Ack!! You made me LOL here at work! :lmao:

so sorry they are putting you this position not cool what so ever and to not ask if you would like this ides and just expect you to participate???:confused3

I don't like the drawing names thing - I don't buy for anyone but my parents and his parents, we just can't afford to do more and most of the time it isn't more than $10 - we drew names one time and the limit was set at $25 - ok lets see here we are a family of 7 so 7x 25 = too much

this year my sil tried to talk everyone into the drawing names again and I refused - I just can't fork over that much money - I used that money on my kids - plus I lost my job so I don't know what they were thinking, asking us to spend an extra $175 that we don't have :headache:

I think people need to think about this before they say anything - now some families if they all buy a gift for everyone than it might be a good thing but not for us. I send what I can afford sometimes that is $20 for other people, sometimes a little more but never $175...:sad2:

I guess I don't understand this concept at all. :confused3 Everyone buys everyone else a $25 gift card.....why not just do the small gift and spend the $25 on yourselves at the store of your choice rather than where a gift card is for. :rolleyes1

I'd offer to sell everyone else the presents I had already bought. Tell them for an extra $5 you'll leave them in the wrapping paper.
:lmao::lmao::thumbsup2

Bookgirl's suggestion is AWESOME!
:thumbsup2

What if you hand out your presents and announce that you have given you gifts for the next 9+ (however many gifts you bought equals number of years you have given your one present) years?:rotfl:
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Gets my #2 vote!
