To answer a question of how we got picked:
I didn't see the notice requesting families for filming until the day before the application process was due. We fit the profile of the empty nesters but they said that they wanted grandchildren over age four. Rather than waste my time putting together bios on everyone and sending a bunch of photos I sent just one photo of myself and my grandchildren. I told them that my GS was only 2 1/2 and if he was going to disqualify us I wanted to know before putting the effort into the application process. They wrote back that they would consider our family. So that night I spent 6 hours writing up bios on all 9 family members that were going to BWVs with us. I sent the bios along with about 8 photos at 11:45 p.m. Fifteen minutes before the deadline! I didn't hear anything for about 2 weeks. I thought to myself, "There goes 6 hours of my life that I'll never get back." Then I got an e-mail asking if they could call me. I spoke to a casting director from California. Another week went by and she called back to see if we could do a conference call with my other family members and the production manager, plus another casting director. After the conference call was complete, we didn't hear anything for another 2 weeks. I had kind of given up at this point. We were leaving in one week and I hadn't heard anything. Then I got the call that our family was chosen! We were happy, but I was kind of panicked at the same time. What will we all wear? How can I lose 20 pounds in one week?
Interview Day...
We were told that they would need to interview us in the grand villa so we would need to put everything into our closets and out of sight. They brought in housekeeping so by the time they arrived to do the interviews the place looked like it was ready for a new occupancy. They arrive around noon. The make-up artist did her thing again mostly with the men. We have some great shots to share with our Harley driving son in laws friends
The first thing they asked us to do was walk in like it was the first time we had seen the villa. That wasnt too hard to do. Then they asked the kids to kind of jump around on the beds. Big mistake
it was a little too wild
2 five year olds and a 2 ½ year old! I dont think that scene will make the final cut.
They then asked us to walk outside on the walkway connecting the villas and the Contemporary. They said we were great walkers!
Then things started to get stressful
interview time. My son and his family went first. They asked the rest of us to go have lunch and come back. I wanted to stay, but I dont think they wanted any distractions. My son went first. When I returned I asked him how it went
he said. Mom, I folded like a lawn chair! I laughed so hard! My daughter-in-law went next and apparently she did very well. Then little GS had his interview
they asked what he liked best about Disney. Keep in mind they were talking to a 2 year old... He said, I like McDonalds! They laughed and said, Can you tell me again what you like about Disney? He said, I like chicken nuggets! Finally they asked, Can you tell me anything about Disney? He looked out the window, pointed at the castle and said, It's right over there! They gave up
My granddaughter shut down too. However, the crew told me that my son and his wife did very well.
Ill finish my interview story tomorrow
