We're back from filming the DVC commercial

I see that the photo came through okay, so I'll now continue with the interview story...

My husband and I were schedule for the next interview. While we were being interviewed, the Grandkids and their parents went down to the pool for some action shots. (They did not get any adult volunteers to get in a bathing suit). They had them playing in the water and going down the slide. They also bought them Mickey bars for some cute "chocolate" shots.

We were back in the villa being interviewed. I was first... It was a little stressful because you wanted to act normal, but there were lights all around you and a big furry mike hanging above you! Once again the film crew made us very comfortable before getting to the questions. They asked about the first time we traveled to Disney World, What Disney Vacation means to us, What it means to be able to share it with our family and friends, (this question touched my heart because for many years I wasn't in a position to provide this kind of vacation for my family), they asked about the value of the program, how did I find out about Disney Vacation Club, the flexibility of the point system, how we utilized our points, and many other questions, but that is all I can remember! It seemed like a big blur I couldn't even remember what I said when I was done, except the fact that I talked for about 15 minutes and prayed that I didn't sound like an idiot!

My husband was next. He is a retired police officer and now sells real estate so he was very comfortable with public speaking. They asked him most of the same type of questions that they asked me, but he didn’t go on as long as I did.

During the interview process there were 2 people from DVD marketing who were taking notes. I think they were writing down the things that they liked (or didn't like). One time I used the word investment and they wanted me to use a different word. So I rephrased my sentence and said best monetary value.

The kids came back from the pool shots and my husband and I went down to a DVC arranged dinner at Chef Mickeys with our son and family.
My daughter, her husband, and my granddaughter were next to be interviewed. My granddaughter answered mostly yes or no, so they didn’t get much from her. She did however explain what her new Cinderella watch looked like. I’m not sure they are going to use that shot because the presentation was kind of awkward. The watch was in a jewelry box and I was holding it when she opened it with the “Special Magic Kingdom key”. The lid hid the watch from the camera, but they did get a good shot of her face when she saw it. They didn’t say they weren’t going to use it, but that’s just my take on it.

My daughter said her interview went okay, but not great. She said she got emotional and almost cried when she talked about what these DVC vacations mean to her and how appreciative she is to me and my husband. Actually we all question how we did, but the crew said we did great. I think they had to say that!

After their interview they joined us at Chef Mickey’s for dinner. The crew arranged for my GD to have a birthday cupcake and they filmed her blowing out the candle.

Stay tuned for the last report…fireworks on the top floor and lounge area.

Thank you for you kind word about my grandchildren. They are the air that I breathe! I will try to now post some pictures of the filming.

I am sure that you did great on your interviews! And I agree with the above posters - your picture is so precious. What a great shot of all 4 of you! :goodvibes

I'm loving your recaps.

That photo is gorgeous. You are lovely and your grandkids are adorable!

I'm sure you all did well in the interviews. With the amount of time they spent with you, I'm sure they will only be using a few minutes of that after editing. Usually they need a few good quotes and they'll be happy.

OMG how exciting! Cant wait to read more!

What a beautiful family! I'm sure you all did great and gave them exactly what they were looking for. Can't wait to hear the final recap and find out what the dates are for airing!

Wow what an amazing experience you guys had, your family is just adorable :goodvibes

I'm at work reading this and trying not to get all emotional but it's hard. What a beautiful thing to have happen. I am so happy for you and your family to have this wonderful experience. I can't wait to watch the show. Thank you for sharing!

ETA: I just saw your photo - what a FANTASTIC picture, you are all very photogenic!

What a wonderful story - thank you so much for sharing! I think I moved past teary and on to full crying thinking about you giving your granddaughter the watch, with Cinderella there to help. Just priceless!

My DH and I are new DVC owners (1 week!) with a 2 yr old and 6 yr old. I can only hope that years from now, we are traveling together with grandkids in tow, making memories as wonderful as you obviously do every trip!

And, you and the grandkids are just gorgeous! It does not surprise me in the least that Disney wrote you back and told you to apply!!

I've thoroughly enjoyed this thread.

It's easy to see why you were picked, not only do you have a beautiful family but your enthusiam comes through in your writing as I'm sure it will on film.

Can't wait to see the final cut.

The fireworks scene:

After dinner we went up to the top floor to view the fireworks at Bay Tower. They had cameras all over the place, probably because it was so dark. We were all standing close together with my son and SIL holding the girls and my husband holding my grandson. It wasn't hard to react to the fireworks, because they are so beautiful. During my interview I mentioned that I enjoy watching my children and grandchildren react to the fireworks more than the fireworks itself. So they asked me to look at the kids, which I gladly did. I do remember saying, "This song always "gets me". And that's the truth! It's a mother's greatest joy to see her family so happy. My husband passed my grandson off to me and he just hugged my face, it was so sweet!

After the fireworks, the crew wanted to film my adult children enjoying the DVC private lounge, (while mom and dad watched their kids). I mentioned in my interview that I love the fact that my adult children can spend time together enjoying the adult Disney and re-connecting as brother and sister while my husband and I enjoy the grandchildren alone. They asked us if we would mind taking the kids back to the room to read them a story before going to bed.

My children and spouses were very eager to oblige! They filmed them toasting each other and laughing. They weren't acting at this point, I think they were happy to get away (they were also thinking about their next stop after the filming was done…Jelly Rolls)!

We took the grandkids back to the room. They asked that we get them in their pajamas. Now keep in mind that everyone had placed (actually thrown) everything in the closets earlier in the day (for filming), so finding their pajamas was an issue! It took a while, but we finely got all three dressed and ready for bed.

They had us all sit together on the couch. Papa read Beauty and the Beast, and finally my 2 year old grandson said, “Roar” and clenched his fists when he saw a picture of the Beast. It was very cute. Then the birthday girl granddaughter decided that she wanted to read to everyone. She was not the least bit intimidated by the film crew; she started “reading” in her own special way. Making up stories about the pictures in the book, and just going on and on… It was very sweet. Of course her cousin kept laughing at her and she didn’t appreciate the laughter! She was taking it quite seriously!

Final recap and additional photos of filming to follow…

Again, what a beautiful family! It sounds like the evening was a lot of fun. I can't wait to see it on TV - I'll have my DVR set and ready to go!
