We're back and we got picked to....

be part of the Space Mountain opening ceremonies!! My family and I were just leaving AstroBlasters on our way to DCA for the day. A CM named Stephanie stopped us and asked where we were going. Then she asked if we would like to be part of the SM opening ceremonies and see Neal Armstrong. We couldn't believe our luck!! We were lead (with another family) through some "CM only" doors up to the waiting area/platform of SM and saw the speeches and the plaque presentation. Then we got to ride SM!! We had ridden it on Wednesday twice, but it didn't seem to be open most of Thursday, and since we were heading to DCA for the remainder of Friday, we didn't figure we would get another ride. But we did!! And we got interviewed by Fox 11 (not sure if it made it on tv). This was so special on our first ever trip to DL and especially so since my DD LOVES Space Mountain.

I'll post more of my trip info later today or tomorrow... we are still trying to get over our jet lag! (Who knew three hours could make such a difference!?) ....................P

That's great! How fun for your family and what a special memory. We got picked to be in the parade in 2004 and it was the highlight of the trip. Glad to hear you got picked for a very special event!
