We're back! 6 days of rain and extended family 8/17-8/23! updated 9/29, day three!!

Hi Tara! Great start so far! Sorry about your looooong day and not getting your room assignment sooner. That's pretty typical unfortunately. It's rare to get into a villa before 4pm. Yes, I guess you learned the hard way about Disney transportation... No getting back through International Gateway after 9pm. All roads lead to DD after the parks close... ya know, I wonder what's going to happen with that after PI is closed? You could always count on getting a bus back to your resort from DD/PI since the buses ran until 2am. :confused3 Anyway, can't wait to read more... I'm sure the story gets soggy very soon...

I think we got spoiled last year b/c our villa was ready around early! And of course my dad's was. We don't get in until 6pm in Dec so no worries there. Next time I will be ready for it :thumbsup2

I wondered about PI too...I know the DD shops are open until 11pm so I guess that will give us coverage until then. Usually one of the parks is open late so that's an option too..it will be interesting!!

Arrgggggg pirate: that sounds like way too stressful of a night! Its really hard with a baby. I know when I arrived at POR with a sick 2yr old at 11 am, I said I would take any room right away so we ended up in the mansions instead of alligator bayou with 5 people. They did deliver a pack-n-play so it worked out but my first priority was just to get my poor baby down to sleep after traveling all day sick... I really feel for you. Sorry your dad didnt feel well either. Well, at least it wasnt raining yet and you didn't get wet walking...I bet you were asleep before your head hit the pillow! Don't forget to jump in a taxi next time you go if you need to...my friend just came back from Disney and took them to all of their dinner's since they were going hotel to hotel.

Did I tell you that this same friend and I are going to WDW in Feb for a few days? She just bought DVC and they matched her points so we get to stay at SSR in a studio for three nights. We are meeting some other dissers from the disboutique thread. Any chance of you getting there then too? Its the first weekend of Feb (5-8th).

I would love to go for a long weekend..it would only cost me airfare and food since I could use my SSR pts and also have my AP. What time are you arriving on the 5th and leaving on the 8th? Let me check out the airfare prices and of course talk to DH. He would have to handle Ty on his own and take those two days off from work. It's Ty on his own that would be the problem! ;) Your kids aren't going right?

Sounds like a stressful first night - I can just imagine how tired you all were! Looking forward to day 2!

I finally got the pic CD from my dad today so I will upload those tonight, add if I need to, and hopefully be on to day two! Thanks for reading!! :goodvibes

Hey, We were there the same time as you with all the rain. I feel the same way as you. Sometimes the rain was just exhausting. Our last day was Friday the 22nd. We just sat in the car at AK. I didn't want to do another day of rain, but it was our last day so we got out of the car and headed into the rain again. We tried to have a good time, but so many things were cancelled. I feel like we missed so much. It was our first trip with our kids. We are going to try and go again in two years. I wish we could go back now and see everthing we missed. Did you say you are a DVC member? We are thinking about it but it costs so much money. Are you happy with it?
Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear your trip was rainy too. :sad2: It must have been super tough on you b/c it was your first trip. We also missed a lot of the evening shows but have sen them before..it makes me sad that you missed them all for the first time!

DVC isn't cheap but it will pay for itself in 7 trips, if you usually stay in a deluxe or even moderate resort. We financed it through Disney and for our first contract the payment is under $200 a month. The dues can be pricey, and have a way of sneaking up on you, but we time it to use our tax refund if possible. It's around $4 per every point you own...depending on what resort you buy into. I can give you a lot more information if you PM me or answer any other questions you might have. It is overwhelming but it really has been the best decision we have made!

Thanks for reading!! princess:

I'm enjoying your trip report with your little one. I especially like it because the pictures are small and I don't have to scroll back and forth to read the report.

You are much braver than I. I didn't take my daughter to WDW until she was five.

Just getting on the new thread...

Glad you made it over! :goodvibes

Thanks for reading!!! We knew when we bought into DVC that we were going to have to be brave and take any little ones right off the bat! It was easier on one end and harder on others.

I FINALLY have my dad's pics. Go back to Day One and you'll see I added some of his pictures. I will get Day Two started tonight..sorry for the delay! :wizard:

DAY TWO, Part 1!!!

Still no sign of Fay at this point...our goal was to be at MK for opening ceremonies. I stressed MANY times to my dad and Chris that it made all the difference in the world if you got to the parks before opening. They were on board with it but I had my doubts that Stefan would be!

We got down to the elevators at 8:15am and sure enough...all three of them were there. Stefan apparently had slept from 2pm-7am!!!!! He better be on a regular schedule now!! :rotfl: My dad also felt better which was good..we were eating at Liberty Tree Tavern that night..DH and I's 2nd favorite TS behind Ohanas.

I forgot to mention in day one that we had groceries delivered from wegoshop.com I was very happy with the service. They were on time and the prices they found for our items were just about what I pay up in here in NY. The only minor disappointment was that the manager was supposed to apply a discount delivery fee of $12 to my order, instead of the regular $22. I didn't notice that had not been applied until after the delivery woman left. I could have called but let it go. The delivery woman seemed a bit disappointed in my $10 tip. I had no idea what to tip!!! :confused3 I had checked out a few other threads on this and saw that it was about $5 an order and since my dad had groceries too I found that fair. Who knows.

Back to day two............
We didn't wait long for a bus, which except for Downtown, seemed to be true all week. On the bus Ty was giving DH and I his version of a kiss over and over again. It was super cute..he never does that! We said he was thanking us for taking him to the Magic Kingdom!!

We arrived just before opening ceremonies. (Sounds like the Olympics!) DH and I traded in our AP vouchers that I had bought online for actual tickets and went to join everyone else in line.

Christine had never seen the opening stuff before...she was impressed by it. I think it's super cute!!! Maybe someday we will be the Disney family of the day??? :wizard:

We finally entered and I was back in the MK after almost a year.

We decided to head to Adventureland first while DH jogged ahead for fast passes for Splash Mt. Surprisingly his knee was not bothering him yet.....it was much better then we had thought it would be.

No line for Pirates.

P1020791.jpg

My dad did not remember it from our 85 trip but I did! I told them to be on the look out for Jack Sparrow! I had thought the cannons might startle Ty but he was fine..just kept looking around.

Next we headed over to the Jungle Cruise while there was no wait.

Our captain was Sam...awesome guy!! Of course cheesy but his personality made it all that much better. Best guide so far!! :thumbsup2

Stefan was very excited to ride Splash..it was one of the only rides he remembered from when he was little.

P1020796.jpg

We had to take shifts of course so DH and Stefan went on first. While they were waiting in line it broke down!! :headache: Of course we didn't know when it would be back up so we decided to head over to Pecos Bills for lunch. Not wanting to repeat what happened yesterday, my dad got the chicken wrap. I love these!!!!!!!!!!! Super huge and yummy! None of them could get over the size of them..I had warned them that it was great food. Stefan, who turns out to be QUITE the whiner, said his burger wasn't that good. DH said of course it wasn't...he had gotten it plain. That huge toppings bar and Stefan didn't get anything but cheese and ketchup. Of course it stunk!!

After lunch it was about 11:30 (we always eat early to avoid the lines) and we wanted to let our food settle so we headed over to the Country Bears. I love this show. I know a lot of people think it's dated but that's why I like it so much. Although with the current rehab I think it will be even better! Ty actually fell asleep through this, which was great, since he had only catnapped earlier.

After the show we saw that Splash was back up so DH and Stefan went back over there. Ty was still sleeping but I was holding him..the theme of the week was don't put Ty down once he's asleep! :rotfl: He always woke up. He has napped in the stroller before but not often. So I ended up carrying him a lot, which I don't normally do, but it was more important to me that he sleep.

By the time they got off the ride I passed Ty over to DH so my dad, Chris and I could ride. Another ride I love! None of us got that wet but my dad kept laughing at some British people in front of us that kept saying how "saturated" they were!! :rotfl:

From there we got Fast Passes for BTMR and made our way to the Haunted Mansion.

Christine is in pink, Stefan in gray....
P1020799.jpg

DH was not with me last Sept when I was able to see the new version so he was pretty excited about it. He wasn't able to pick out all the new areas b/c it had been over two years since he was last on it....last year was when it was closed for the rehab. He liked it though! :thumbsup2

Up next...part two of the day and what would Ty think of the characters?

Looks like beautiful weather for your MK morning! Looking forward to hearing how Ty reacts to the characters. :)

It's hard to write a report for only a few people..if you are lurking come out and say hi so I know someone is out there!

:wave2: popcorn::
Hello, enjoying the trip report. I know how hard it is with little ones. We took our kids DD3 & DS10mths the first time in 2006 and it was quite a different experience than sans kiddos.

Hey Tara!!

We're back!

Looks like you guys had a good start to a MK day :upsidedow

So sweet about Ty's kisses! :goodvibes

Can't wait to see how he interacts with the Characters. We had some great Character luck on our trip also :cool1:

Hope everyone is good!

I hope to get started on our TR in the next few days

DH and I were just talking about that the other night...how different it was with Ty. Things that were important before, like seeing Fantasmic and Wishes, wasn't as important this trip. But on the other hand since we went a little slower we did see more things we missed the last two trips.

Hey Tara!!

Day Two, Part Two!

Disney006.jpg

So I left you with us leaving the Haunted Mansion....I love this ride and always will. :lovestruc

A random pic of Ty that day..
P1020804.jpg

We headed over to Fantasy Land....our only two priorities were Small World and Philharmagic! The line for Small World was about 15 minutes...not too bad. We got in line for that and it moved pretty quickly. This is Ty's favorite lullaby. Infact, it is the only one he really likes me to sing! I knew he wouldn't recognize the song while on the ride but I knew he would enjoy the oodles of colors and movement. His head was moving all over the place to take everything in! I would have ridden it again but when we came out the line was much longer. We headed over to Philharmagic (if I am even spelling that right! :confused3 ) We had a 5 minute wait for the doors to open..DH decided to head to the bathroom.

Warning..gross part coming up! ;)

Dh chews tobacco. I don't care for it but he used to smoke 3 packs a day when he was in the Navy on his sub. He quit that cold turkey before I met him....this is a better option IMO, and he doesn't chew that much. Maybe 2 cans a week. Anyway, he had put his "spit cup" in the stroller next to my Pecos Bill drink I still had left. Mind you he was using his Pecos Bill cup as well but mine was punched diet. I didn't see him put his cup in the tray so I grabbed a drink and took a sip.

NASTY!!! It was his chew cup!!! I have never done this in the 4 years I have known him!!! I immediately turned and spit it out on the pavement. Luckily no one saw!! I would have felt horrible for doing that but it was instinct!! It was so gross. I had to keep drinking mine and washing my mouth out. Luckily I didn't swallow. My dad and co. didn't even notice what I was doing but I told them what happened anyway. They got a big kick out of it. DH came back and just told me I got what I deserved for not checking the cups. :rotfl:

There's your too much info story for the day!

ANYWAY............after Philharmagic I decided to take Ty to the Baby Care Center while everyone else went to Tomorrowland. DH offered to come to the center with me, which was nice. I think he just needed a break from Stefan who really turned out to not be his favorite person!

Disney005.jpg

We split up and gave them our tickets so they could get us FastPasses for SM. The Baby Care Center is right next to the Crystal Palace. It was a really nice facility...Epcot would also end up having a nice one. There is a main room with a TV and small chairs for the kids, a changing area, a kitchen area and a nursing room with about 4 rocking chairs. The CM said I could go in there to get Ty to sleep even though I don't nurse. No one else was in there but DH had to stay back in the TV room. Ty was overtired and it took a bit before he fell asleep. Once he did I let him sleep for about an hour. He is used to a 2 hour afternoon nap but the rockers were killing my back and I just didn't want to make DH watch any more kids cartoons then he had too! :rotfl:

So feeling a little refreshed we met up with everyone outside the Crystal Palace.

We headed back over to BTMR and everyone rode that. No clue why I didn't. :confused3 After that we split up again..this time DH and Stefan (who used my fast pass) went to ride Space Mt. while my dad, Ty, me and Chris went to Carousel of Progress. Another ride my dad didn't remember from 85 but ended up loving it anyway. Like everyone else says, the last scene needs a major update, but I hope they never change the rest. I love the music for this ride! :cloud9:

By this time we joined back up with everyone and headed over to our dinner reservation at LTT. We were a bit early but Ty was already getting fussy/hungry so I was hoping they could accommodate us. They did! They seated us about 45 minutes before our ADR. It was a big bench table that had a comfy booth on the one side. Ty laid on that next to me after he ate, which I think he enjoyed. He was able to stretch out and play with some toys.

I was excited to get some pictures of the characters with Ty. We had seen some in the parks but the lines were just too long and it wasn't fair to make Ty wait. So this was our only opportunity for the day. Unfortunately, when Dale came around Ty was fussing so the pictures were not that great. The best one was with Minnie. Still not great but I didn't get too upset..I knew we would be back in Dec! He seemed very interested in them though...always wanted to "pet" their costumes!!

Dinner was delicious as usual!!!! We were all stuffed and VERY tired when we were done....Spectromagic was canceled due to the Liberty Bridge being out so we decided to head back to the hotel. There was no way Ty would make it for Wishes and I wouldn't expect that. We didn't mind though..it was actually nice to leave the park before everyone else did and not feel rushed to make the buses.

Next up...Day 3 at MGM and my dad's stomach ruins plans AGAIN!!
