It was pretty cool. He was one weird dude though. :tilt:
His works though are so intricate and detailed. He also was very divers in his styles.
If you ever are in the area I suggest going, but go on a Thursday night after 5 as admission is only $5.00. Great deal. We saved $36. :thumbsup2

Awesome. I'm going down to visit my parents in Dunedin in August - I'll have to talk them into going. I love art, but Iowa is sort of lacking in the museum department. ;)

The pictures on their website of the new museum they're building look amazing!

I almost went this past week, now I wish I would have gone! I was down there this past week because my Dad had to have some heart tests.

AshleyW - Have you eaten at Casa Tina's in Dunedin? It's really good!:goodvibes It was recommended by a co-worker of mine and it's owned by her sister. Let me tell you it was definitely worth the drive from N. Redington Beach :thumbsup2 Their Chipolte Sauce is fantastic, OH! and the Queso Fundido with chorizo is enough for a meal instead of just appetizer!

I also went to Cabana which is just half-a-block away and had the Key Lime Tart which was soooo good!

I'm definitely going back when we visit my Dad in November!

I haven't yet, but I'll definitely add it to my list!! :goodvibes Last time I was down there, we spent most of our time either on Clearwater Beach or in Tampa. So really the only places I've been to the Clearwater/Dunedin area are Mandalay Grill (a few times - so yummy!), Crabby Bill's and Rumba. Oh, and we went to Strachan's in Dunedin for ice cream several times. :rolleyes1 If you haven't been there, you MUST! Seriously the best ice cream ever.

I'm right next to Dunedin. Casa Tinas sounds familiar. I'll have to check it out. We decided since there are so many restaurants down here that we a putting a hold on chain restaurants and hitting local places instead.

Strachans. Is that right on the corner of Main street in downtown Dunedin. I haven't had ice cream there but that place smells heavenly inside!

Ohh lucky! I wish I was close enough to go. "The Persistence of Memory" has always been my favorite.

Not the budget board but they have coupons for Mandalay Grill on restaraunt.com.
I always get the $50 off $100 and we get alot of food and drinks too for 4 adults. the food is good and really cheap.
I have never been to the Dali museum but plan on it this year with my son and grandson. In HS my son did a video report on Dali in Spanish for his Spanish class. It was hilarious, he spent alot of time talking about how Dali loved fuego (fire) He was a weird guy though, alot of people don't know how weird until they have to study him.

i've been...in '95! it was a really cool museum and really pretty area.

if you are in the area, go!

Oh me too, me too. This area is so lacking it's sad. About 10 years ago though there was a program called the Art Train. It was a train with half a dozen cars that were filled with famous works of art. It was sponsored by various community groups and it would go from town to town (on the rails of course!). They'd park it for several weeks and open it to the locals. It came up this far in Minnesota and it was amazing! I wish they'd do that again so towns like ours wouldn't feel so isolated from *culture*. LOL
It was shocking to see these priceless works of art On Tour, so to speak...

Weird. Quirky. But so tremendously entertaining! I would love to get myself to the museum and maybe some day I'll make it!
I actually have a cool iTouch Dali application..it's a search/hidden picture game using many of his surreal pieces. LOL Weird I know. LOL

He worked in almost every medium didn't he? I'd love to get into his head when he was working on some of his projects.
You sure got a great bargain on the admission! Lucky duck!

Yep, that's the place - right on the corner. It's so good. They have a sauce called "Yummy Yummy Sauce" (yep, real original ) that is divine. All their ice cream is homemade, and is fairly cheap for the big serving sizes they give you.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep that in mind for when we go down in August - I think Restaurants.com usually has their 70% off sale pretty often, too. We usually go to Mandalay a few times, because one of the owners (the older lady that is always there with her little white dog - I can't seem to remember her name) is actually from Iowa, about 10 minutes away from where I live, so she likes to catch up with my parents and I. Their seared ahi tuna is so good! I swear, I could eat that all week long and not get sick of it.

Dali is my favorite artist. I vividly remember picking up a magazine in middle school art class that had an article on him and falling in love with the imagination of his works. I've been to a couple exhibits, but the most famous work of his I've seen is The Enigma of Desire, at the modern art museum in Madrid. I think my favorite works of his are Swans Reflecting Elephants and...actually, I don't think I can put down the name of my other favorite...as I doubt it would get past the mods...oh well.

Love the Dali museum. We studied his art in one of my gifted classes in school growing up (not something you can really study very well in most general studies classes!) and the class went to the museum but I couldn't go on that trip. So when DW and I got married and honeymooned in Clearwater we made sure to visit and it was awesome seeing the masterworks in person - they're huge. The guided tour is well worth it, also. You can stare at some of his works for hours and not see something but as soon as a docent says "look here" it pops right out at you. Amazing stuff.

He was a crazy, crazy man, but some brilliant works came out of him.

Just a note on two other great museums in the central-west Florida region: The Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, and the John Hosmer Morse Museum in Winter Park, near downtown Orlando.

The Morse Museum houses the largest collection of Tiffany stained glass in the world. Any time we do a longer trip to WDW, I take a morning off from the family and go up there.
