Well THAT"S dedication for you

*snip* He HATED when he was called up from JV to play varsity though. Did he do it?.. Sometimes ..yes, and other times..No. It depended on what else was going on, and what other commitments he may have had. He didn't drop everything. I was okay with his decision.

I'm not saying it's that way for everyone, but some kids feel that way, and no..they don't want to drop everything because varsity called. That's certainly their prerogative and I wouldn't judge them too harshly. It is after all....a game.

I guess we'll have to wait until next year for Golfgal to update us on whether or not these girls cared.

Since you were okay with your sons decision, I'm sure that you wouldn't be the type of parent to go and complain if he didn't move up.

If a student doesn't want to get up at 6am for a meet when they are called, I doubt they are going to have the desire to want to do a 6am meet when they agree to do varsity.

I think you misunderstand me. I am not speaking about $$$$ or scholarships.

Colleges look for passions. Admission officers seek students who display fire and devotion about the activities in which they participate. It doesn't matter if it is a sport, a musical ability, a hobby, or a scholastic endeavor. What matters is the curiousity and commitment students bring to an environment.

No, I wouldn't have. If he decided he didn't want to play at all, that would have been fine with me as well.
To tell you the truth.... sometimes..there's also a whole lot of drinking and partying that goes on, with varsity teams. So..if he told me he wanted to walk away, I'd be okay with that too. Sometimes there are other things going on with a team, besides what happens on the field. I also know a lot of parents who turn a blind eye to it, and have a boys will be boys attitude. I've also seen more parents asked to leave the field this year. Frankly, I'll be glad when it's done.
