When I said you people I was NOT speaking of all white people but certain people on the db who tend to paint minorities with the same brush. Maybe my response was harsh to some, but when your speaking to certain people who think their race is above everyone else than someone needs to bring them back to reality.

edited to add: I have never said white people can keep us down or anyone down for that fact. I have always said the only person that can keep you down is yourself.
Yes their are people in all races who blame another race for something. I personnally don't care if your black, white, blue or green, NoONe can stop you from acheiving your goal no matter how hard they try.
I'm a firm believer in God and I know that NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER. I also believe that whatever God has for me No man or woman of any race can stop it.
Not to drag this over to the CB, but thanks for the clarification. It always bothers me to lumped into one group and criticized for the actions of a few. :(

For those of you who are interested here is a link to the debate, but don't say I didn't warn you! ;)

Pete's mom I mean this with all due respect, but did you see the thread on the CB about the "No kids conspiracy" or whatever it was called?

People telling others to get spayed? That was really bizarre?

:earseek:

You don't think that that one was bitter and negative?:D

Pete's mom and Pongo...... Thank you for the explanation.
I appreciate the time you took to answer my ??

I refuse to go over to the debate board as I found it to be filled with self righteous people who became indignant if someone disagreed with their opinion. Those that are Ill-tempered, foul, and oppositional makes me cringe. I am all for free speech, but I feel it should be tempered with GREAT LISTENING too.

an open mind is a terrible thing to waste! :)

I have been over to the debate board... **Shudders**

I'm pretty set in how I live my life, but am a big believer in letting others live theirs. I don't mind when people tell me why they believe a certain way but don't want it shoved down my throat.. probably why I want a president in the white house that keeps his religion to himself! :p

It really makes me feel awful when people get to name calling and shouting (if you can do that on a message board)... I'm not mean and simply do not understand how other people can be so nasty.

There have been threads that I have wanted to reply to but after I wrote my response I figure I don't want to open my big mouth and I hit the back button.

I like it when everyone gets along!

You mean the "Vitriolic Insult Laden Where People Do Nothing That Even Remotely Resembles A True Debate" Board?

Used to stop by on occasion, haven't as much lately, when I do, I stay away from the homeschooling, circumcision, breast vs. bottle, religious, gender identity, sexual preference debates.

When I first went to the debates board "Just for Fun," I thought, oh how nice to be able to discuss different sides of issues with some friendly folk. Then I discovered you only go there to be told "YOU'RE WRONG!" no matter what you say.

Now I usually go there only when I'm PMS and feel the need to get all riled up about something stupid as an alternative to yelling at my boss.

That thread is actually here on the CB and yes, that was my advice to the poster who said
For me, my cat's life would not even be equal to child if I had one, it would be BETTER, since my cat would not ruin my life, and a child WOULD. I'd give away the child and keep the cat. Honestly, I would.
Also, it wasn't meant to be bitter or negative statement and the person I suggested it to did not take it that way
I sure have! Call it "spayed", "fixed", "tied", "snipped", "tubalized", whatever you call it, you are right, its a a great idea and I found a wonderful GYN who is willing to do it.

My point is I love a debate and I respect the right of anyone to express their opinion whether I agree with it or not. I can honestly say that some people have taught me to look at both sides of the argument and in some cases I have even changed my view because of some elses insight into an issue, but it make me very sad when some resort to name calling and hurling insults at one another. :( That's not a debate IMHO. :o

I wasn't just trying to pick on you!:D I just meant that I see that whole debate as anti-female. Why is it always okay as long as women are picking on other women?

Atleast we have men to pick on, on the DB! I personally think that is more fun!;)

I don't want to fall into the trap of picking on other people from other boards. I always see that hapenning when people get bored.

Have a great weekend!:D :sunny:

Pete's Mom, I know what you mean. I've had some good debates with people on the DB, with people who are skilled at debating ideas. Then there are those who want to attack their opponent's character. Blech. I get enough of that living in Washington with all the political backstabbing that takes place here, so I'm primarily a fluffy Internet kinda person. :p

Whatever floats your boat, I guess. :)

"You know, I never thought of it that way, you may have a point."

It always seems as though the regulars read posts only thinking of how to rebut them, not ever considering that it might be a viable argument.

And some posters have such an obvious agenda, it never dawns on them that they have lost all credibility because they are so predictable.

It could have been a good thread, but it turned into parents versus non parents. :( Hey, that could be a new FOX TV show

WHEN GOOD THREADS GO BAD! :p

Of course, I was trying insert a little humor into the debate (i.e. cats, children) and thought that spaying was a gentler term than tubal ligation or sterilization. I totally forgot that the DB does not do humor. hee hee ;)

I would like to see some heated male debates like DO YOU PUT THE TOLIET SEAT BACK UP?, etc. but alas, no takers. :(

Now girlfriend THAT is FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!

ROTFLOL

I have also been sucked in by the debate board. I'm one of those selfish people who went overseas to adopt DD rather than adopt domestically. Although in a sadistic way I do enjoy those where it's all opinion. I learned really early though to steer clear of anything political; I'm just too outnumbered. To me the debate board is like road kill, you know you shouldn't look but you just can't help yourself ;) .

THAT is exactly how I feel...I actually feel that I have learned alot from that board. I don't participate, as I'd probably be eaten alive, but the only reason I go over there is to learn other's view points. I admit it has opened my eyes to a few issues and taught me a thing or two.

While the debate board can be a bit rough (as can the CB for that matter), most of us who post over there try not to be unreasonable or make personal attacks. I dmit there are times when the few exceptions get on my nerves (especially recently), but all in all I find it fun and I learn points of few that I hadn't considered before.
