Well, just back from the Debate Board

Wow, Pete's Mom, I thought I was the only one! I go there every now and then to find out what's going on in the world, I used to listen to talk radio for the same reason and it just wears me out.

Funny, I went there and found out that I had a LOT of nerve having the shortest month of the year as a celebration of my people....

Funny thing, when I was younger I would've THRIVED on that board. With my old age I've learned that everyone's entitled to their own opinion and I don't always have to be right... nor do I have to quote someone and tell them how WRONG they are!

I feel a little better now. I went to Kroger and held the door open for about an hour for those coming into the store. Okay, granted it was an automatic door so all I had to do was stand under the sensor the whole time, but hey, it's the thought that counts, right?

Umm has anyone noticed that the Community Board has become a mini Debate Board? I keep wondering when the mods are going to move some of the the current threads.

I haven't posted on the debate board since my first few months on the DIS. I went away for awhile and when I returned I think I'd lost my edge. Besides it seems like there are always three threads on the front page discussing the same thing. Snooze.

You think you feel guilty about full day kindergarten? I'm going to HOMESCHOOL my kids. Try taking that one to the debate board. I'll probably keep them completely isolated from other people, ignore all rules of grammar when I write things that they read, and abandon all science, math, and reading lessons so that they can just concentrate on winning spelling bees.

It's definitely not debate in the classic manner. In school they teach you to be polite and make your point, not so over there. But if you know the rules going in and put your flame-proof suit on, it's really not so bad.

But don't talk about when to send boys to the men's room or whether to home school or use public schools or give a hint that you're a liberal.

I swear there is some debate coach somewhere telling his students to go to the DIS board and take the extreme position on any topic, they will be graded accordingly.

Once I tried to back up the liberals on a topic-- and they turned on me, too.

Scary place. Rather have pixie dust all day long.

I don't know, I guess because one poster kept making references to "YOU PEOPLE keeping African Americans down". And that "YOU PEOPLE will never understand". When I said you people I was NOT speaking of all white people but certain people on the db who tend to paint minorities with the same brush. Maybe my response was harsh to some, but when your speaking to certain people who think their race is above everyone else than someone needs to bring them back to reality.

edited to add: I have never said white people can keep us down or anyone down for that fact. I have always said the only person that can keep you down is yourself.
Yes their are people in all races who blame another race for something. I personnally don't care if your black, white, blue or green, NoONe can stop you from acheiving your goal no matter how hard they try.
I'm a firm believer in God and I know that NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER. I also believe that whatever God has for me No man or woman of any race can stop it.
