Well I have a new outlook on my camping situation.

I couple of months ago I posted thatin the wake of ever increasing fuel prices, we were going to have to sell our camper. We just couldn't justify the payments with the additional cost of fuel. Since then, we have had no real luck selling the camper. We decided that since we have paid for it all year we might as well go ahead and use it this summer. We are not going to be able to go to the Fort, but we will be going to Townsend, TN. This choice was made primarily due to the fact that our son will only be 1 this summer. Here was my revelation. We have recently gotten rid of our house phone and Internet (I use the Internet mainly at work anyway). That freed up $100 bucks per month. Using this money to help supplement our normal vacation savings, I have budgeted for trips to the fort 3 times in the next 24 months, one trip for 5 nights at Thanksgiving, one for 1 week July of 2009, and one for two weeks 2010. I know that my budgets for these trips is based on major speculation as to the prices of fuel, groceries and campsite; but I was very cautious in how much I allotted for everything and now believe that it is well within our means. It really came as encouragement as to our financial situation if nothing else. It is also helping me to convince my wife that we should keep the camper. This way we can make out son a Fort Wilderness nut too.

I say forget canselling camping trips because of high fuel costs. lets boycott filling the tanks to goto work. Let our bosses pick us up if they want us there.

It took us almost a year to sell our motorhome and we had to give up some cash to get it sold. Hang in there and it will sell someday. I need to get a job so bad or we are going to have to kiss Fort Wilderness goodbye for a very long time.

I agree.....try www.craigslist.com

take a small personal loan if you need to sell it.....the loan is a small price to pay when you are battleing the trailers depreciation....

There will be other trailers when you get back on your feet.......listen to your wife's instincts:thumbsup2
