Morning Ya Yas!

Welcome back traveling sistahs!

Alan, have a great weekend.

Paula, it is good to hear that your kidlets are doing some positive transitions on their own. Sorry that it means DD is feeling the need to transfer though. She will do fine wherever she decides as long as she can be happy about her location.

Suzanne, hope the new look will be fabulous.

Morning everyone...

Kimmar - the teens and their families have been in my thoughts - both of my kids lost classmates last year due to car accidents - one (Alyssa's friend) an accident another (Chris good friend) due to racing. In Chris case he was good friend with the victim and also friends with the driver who survived (paralized from the waist down). Such a shame ..and so sad that so many tragedies could be prevented if only teenagers didn't think they were indestructible.....

...you are soooo right!

NEW update:

Kidney, was NOT removed yet; drs. are still trying to see whether it is salvagable....however, he did have a ruptured spleen and broken pelvis...once he is stabilized for at least 24 hours with no other complications, they will arrange to have Richie transferred to Hackensack Medical Center....His face, neck and arms are all swollen and he is HEAVILY sedated on meds....although he is still critical and is in ICU, his mother wanted for his friends to see him, 2 at a time VERY BRIEFLY, to bring home the message: THIS IS WHAT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU FROM MAKING BAD CHOICES!!! (apparently, there seems to be some involvement of illegal substances... )

hi gang,

no fair, my mom is getting snow at the house and it is sunny where i am!! :( I need a pouting smiley!

Lainey welcome home!! I can't wait to hear all the stories about your trip with Pam and Nancy (and Dave). I am so jealous!!

Paula...I think Alaska is a good idea. I've been telling him all day to take a hike. I just need to figure out how to not stress over things. Which right now is really difficult.

Alan...i'm hoping that once I show the report to the speech people at his school they will accept it and give it to him. I'm also hoping to get his counselor to write up his theory that this is part of his frustration which leads to his behavioral problems. We have kids in va bch who are in private school but their parents transport the kids to the public school for speech. I think it is great the the public schools will work with the private schools.

I am trying to get the energy to work today but it hasn't happened yet!! I have actually been interacting with kids today!

Okay, gotta go write some lesson plans for tomorrow morning. The March of Dimes Kick off Breakfast for the 2006 Walk-America is tomorrow morning. I'm captaining our team again. So my boss let me go again so that I can represent our school. I'm hoping my team will do better this year, than last year.

Off to work!!

tara

I'm back. I absolutely LOVE the new cut and color. My picture of myself doesn't do it justice, so I think the hubby will have to take better pictures tonight (in between playing with it,lol). The new look got the Kevin seal of approval and he's the fashionista in our house, so I'm sure it'll meet with more approval later.

He and I had a nice southwest lunch together and now he's watching a movie with the new glasses on. He looks good, he likes them and he says he can see much better, so that's a hit. I need to head out to the garage and get a woody hat out of the costume boxes. I'll be bringing it to Aidensmom later.

Welcome back, Lainey. I agree, Dave is a very funny guy. We yaya's seem to have twisted senses of humor, and our loved ones appear to be no exception. Tara's mom was fun to hang with back in December, too.

Paula, I think seeing many options will help Chris decide. Aren't there several schools closer to home for Alyssa that she doesn't neccessarily have to go to the same school as Ryan?

Kim, that is a VERY smart mom. What better way to prove the point than to let them see with their own eyes. :grouphug: I'm sure you've probably got some deep conversations ahead of you, because the sight is not easily forgotten. Sis was messed up pretty bad from poor choices and is still dealing with the aftermath (steel rods in her leg).

Back later, gators!

Suzanne

Okay, still not up for doing real ketchups here... I've been busy running around today and dealing with a tree stump removal. Just wanted to hang out near by in case they needed us. So... haven't sat down much yet. I will get to better (much longer) replies later today though.

Tara, at least it isn't snowing all over :p

Kimmar, I do hope that the boy will be okay soon. Sometimes I thank my lucky stars that I didn't hurt myself or anyone during my teen years :(

Tara, you might want to look into it, but at least here it would be considered illegal for a parent to be denied something from the public school that the private school doesn't offer. I knew some who came to our school for classes/activites that their private didn't offer. After all you DO pay taxes for schools whether you use them or not. I would imagine that's why the private school kids do use the public schools for speech.

Woo hoo for the good cut & color Suzanne! I cannot wait to see how it turned out! I thnk you are very right too... we seem to have some major similarities with our families... we all seem "normal" once we get together

I will do better later. I am going to get in teh shower to see if I can loosen some muscles that ache. I'll be back with real replies later.

HI all - Valentines Day shopping went well - 2 dvd's for Alyssa - already mailed - a dvd and M&M's for Chris - CD for hubby!!

Suzanne - yes - Alyssa is exploring all options - I should have clarified that she and Ryan actually looked at his school together and she decided she had to go out on her own - which I thiNk is goOd because she tends to be the "mother-hen" and I didn't want her going with him just because she felt like she had to take care of him. Now if she does go there it will be her choice to be with him. She is looking to other schools in the area as well ...time will tell.

WELCOME BACK TRAVELLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Working on pics still... lots to upload... and will do update with thread after I get those done

but from saturday, here's me & Luis (yep separate... hard to do otherwise when you have no one to take pics for you ;))

Pics weren't that skeery were they?

I'll hopefully be back and "normal" tomorrow. I am mostly caught up on some things here at home ::yes::

I'm back. New pics, Ed was nice enough to take them!

Naw, Lainey, those pics didn't scare me away, the dinner bell was calling!

Suzanne

Elaine, you and Luis are a very good looking couple.

Kimmar, kudos to the Mom for sharing the lesson even while it is such a difficult time. I hope it does save others by this graphic lesson.

Paula, Yay! for Valentine shopping. You are the bestest! Whatchagetme? :teeth:

Suzanne, glad you like your new hairs. Can't wait to see them. Good to have the family seal of approval too, but if not--so, they're your hairs.

Tara, good luck finding a way to not stress. I think it's difficult not to as it is difficult when we do.

Hey gang,

I love the pictures!! Wow! the yayas clean up purty good!!

Elaine..I think I was confusing with the speech stuff. The school evaluated him and said that his articulation issues were not serious enough to warrant a speech services. So on the advice of the counselor I took him to the Children's Hospital therapy dept. They assessed him, saw the same issues and felt that his distortions (which put him at a standard score of 68 and an age equivalent of 3 years) were enough to warrant him recieving services. So now I have to convince the school (we are in a public school) that he needs to get these services at school and not at the children's hospital to the tune of $100 a pop!

I bought Jar's and Ethan's valentines today...I bought tickets to go see the Ringling Bros. Circus on the 25th. So on Valentine's morning I'm leaving a card with a picture of the circus and a note telling him that we are going to the circus! He has been bugging me to go and i can't really afford it right now, but I don't want to miss out on things like this with my kids...I just have to be good and eat at home for a couple of weeks!! At least with my cooking I should be able to break this stupid plateau I've hit! :rotfl:

Okay, off to slumber land. I'll check in tomorrow after my MOD breakfast!!

tara

Suzanne, sorry I missed your pics after I posted I didn't check. Nice look. I like it!

Tara, hope you don't have to fight too much. It stinks when the school won't help. Maybe now that you have a private diagnosis they must recognize it.

I'm sleeping in...going to bed now. g'nite.

Morning, all.

Just a early howdy-do. I don't have to take the kids to daycare, so I earned a few minutes DIS time. Ed's supposed to be off, but he still has to go in for a couple of hours. At least it's not at his normal 6am!

Off to work, since he's technically off, and I am at 3:30, I'm going to see if we can catch a movie.

Suzanne

HI everyone.....

Totally forgot to mention the pics last night
Elaine - I loved the dress - you looked beautiful and what a handsome hubby!!
Suzanne - love the hair color and highlights - you have inspired me to make an appt for next week - coloring it myself just doesn't seem to make it for me....

Off to breakfast with my dad then the dairy farm for milk....gotta put those blinders on so I won't be sucked I by the pastry counter.......

Oh and for the Appolo lovers.....just watched him on the Today show.....my - can he corner well.......enough said.....

More later,
paula

Morning ladies and gents... I think I have to go shopping today. My dad gave me a g/c to the mall and I realized I do not own a single pair of slacks. Tonight we are going to the Blue Jacket's hockey game in the owner's suite (which I see goes for $160/person  :faint: ) and you are not allowed to wear jeans there. If you went you'd know why. So I would like to find a pair of pants or cute outfit to wear tonight and to have for the future.

Okay, freaky Olympics people... you do realize there are other better sports out there right? ::yes:: :duck:

Paula, that is so good of you to sit and listen. I am sure it is hard, but I bet it will help in the long run for him. He is at the age where he has to start to try to figure things out for himself some.

Tara, I am so glad to know that E is working on the potty thing already! I hope it goes well for you!

You know, I was in Boma with Nancy & Dave during the Super Bowl and above us you could hear the people watching and cheering. I even saw a towel or two being flung. I was happy when I found out at PI that night that the Steeler's did win!

Amanda, glad you were able to get through the aqua aerobics after the treadmill. I am not sure I could've handled that one!!!

Bethie, I am sorry about the TV... I hope you can get yourself a good one with the refund!

Alan, if you do tight enough spandex, I am sure we wouldn't notice the difference. Or you can do what they do atthe parks... add padding into the spandex to give the illusion of muscles and stuff. Plus I'd catch you, you're cuter than Apolo!!!
(though no offense, almost anyone is ;))

Sherry, I am so glad to hear that Junior's health is improving!!! That is great :)

You know, JRKaren, Pam must not like her DH too much there... she gave out MY cell phone number to him... we had a blast together :p

Oh sure, she gets to rub it in that she is where it is warm AND she gets to ride EE. I hate her...and I'll think of a reason later!!! :lmao:
Hmmm... maybe I shouldn't mention the wonderful rides in convertables and having it so warm I could wear a bikini........

alabamaalan said:
And I suspect that it was something she said her about 2 weeks ago that gave you a headache too. ::yes::
alabamaalan said:

TWIT!!!! ZIPPIT!

Kimmie, you are about the furthest from decripit as possible!

Suzanne did do an excellent job of recapping all we did with her while with us. I did have a blast going on EE with her (including the 2x prior) as well as all those other E ticket rides we rode on. This has to be one of my best trips :)

Hmmm... Tara... my cabana boy is too good for sneaking around like that... well at least I hope so!(but which one are we talking about... Orli, Antonio or my pathetic third one, Alan?)

alabamaalan said:
What? She wanted me totally nekkid?
eek.gif
I don't think so.
Naaa... not totally... maybe boxers would work ;)
(sparkly Mickey?)

Woo hoo for the new dishwasher Sherry!

Lily, so glad to hear the good news for your DS! ANd particularly yay for showers!!!

Paula, I am so sorry about your DH's attitude. I think he really needs to learn the "if you don't have anything nice to say" thought! I think the next time he does it, whack him upside the back of the head and tell him to keep it between you and him... not bring down a kid who doesn't need that!

Tara :rotfl: That story about the bed & DVD is priceless. I hope he did learn something!

Now Suzanne, they didn't get *really* wet... at least no where near what we had at the barge! OMG, that was awful! ANd yes, I was laughing the whole time at them on Space Mt... it was hilarious to hear them!!!!

Alan, I hope y'all have a great weekend together!

Paula, best of luck to Alyssa. Nothing wrong with transferring. Some just like being near family (I am one of them) Not that she needs to be at home a lot, just that she might be comfortable knowing y'all are close. I find that's true of people even today... I won't move because I like knowing family is all right here (or for the most part w/in a couple hours)

Tara, good luck with the March of Dimes this year!!!!

Oh and thanks for the reminder Paula, I need Elizabethtown ::yes::

Suzanne, I love the new cut!!!! That is such a great look for you! ANd you look thrilled!!!

Yep Tara, I got conufsed (shocker) Good luck with all that though. I am shocked they aren't willing to listen to others about Jarrod. Those scores do sound low enough to warrant some help!

Glad y'all liked the pics... I did too ;) The dress was very nice to have that night!

Kimmar any news on the boy?

Well tehre's a recap of the last few days... I know I missed some, but meh...

as time goes on today and this weekend, I'll share pics and stories to go with :)

Elaine, Great ketchup!

Kimmie, thanks for sharing that schedule/pic.

Paula, hope breakfast was great and that you had will power. I don't.

Not much to report here. Busy, turmoil, ~$6,000 pay cut for me (extra job duties cut) but still have my job...good for that at least. Might mean less WDW/vaca time, sigh. We do have plans made and partly paid so I think this is a go to keep those at least. DH is supposed to be away for Valentines Day, bad boss making them go to Buffalo only he doesn't have itinery yet and that stinks too. He'd like to at least know report time and duration. Oh well same as always. Have a great day...
:sunny:

Kim and Paula!! Thank you!! Paula, I had no idea he was on the Today show today! The show is only 40 min. in here and thanks to your heads up I turned on the tv... they just mentioned his spot coming up!! Woooo! Nice... corners? :) Sigh... yes. :p Kimmar, smooches!! I hadn't tracked down the short track schedule yet so that link is much appreciated...as is that lovely picture!! Ah, Allison is a lucky ~ lucky girl. :)

Concert soon for Elaine?

Beautiful pics of Luis and Elaine! It's a gorgeous dress!!

Kimmar, I'm so sorry to hear about the boys. I do hope they recover fully AND learn a valuable lesson from all of this. Such senseless tragedies. :( Gotta admire that mama taking this opportunity to send a message home to the rest of the kids. Smart woman!

I think the next time he does it, whack him upside the back of the head and tell him to keep it between you and him... not bring down a kid who doesn't need that!
::yes:: Paula, hopefully your DH will eventually learn by your example, what is and isn't helpful to Chris. Hugs to you!

Suzanne, your hair is gorgeous! What a beautiful color... and cut! I so need a sprucing up. Hair is feeling stringy. Bleh.

How you feeling Tara? We'd cheeto Jack, but then again you might not like that....

Well I finally managed to successfully destroy my kitchen. Although, surprisingly enough I didn't burn it down. It's WAY nakey though. No cabinets, counters, appliances, sink, fridge, nothin'. :p New cabinets go in Monday/Tuesday. New appliances are supposed to be delivered today. YAY!! :yay:

OOoooh! It's almost Apolo time!! :p

Back from breakfast - a very nice time - we saw a woman there from church that used to work at the Christmas bazaar with my mom - she came over to say hi and as always had fond memories of my mom and many compliments on what a wonderful woman she was and how missed she is - my dad filled up - it was nice.

OK - I admit it....I approached the pastry counter ...I took a number......have it in my head "only 2 choc chip muffins.....only 2 choc chip muffins....." but wait.....that's an interesting looking pastry - an almond crescent you say ?? dipped in chocolate??? welll....just to be polite I will take one please.....reminder in my head DON'T LOOK AT THE WHIPED CREAM DELECASIES...THEY HAVE POWERS THAT CAN'T BE OVERCOME...............whew got away just in time - with only an extra cookie.....and of course a spinach pie for DH - too bad he was to wait till tomorrow - it was still warm.....oh yeah ...I bought milk too - isnt't that what I was going for in the first place?????

Elaine - looking forward to seeing your pics - have fun at the mall!!
Lily - so sorry to hear about work woes - thinking good thoughts for you.

Now to do the grocery list.....snow storm coming - got the milk - now of course have to stockpile bread - hahaha - gotta love New England!!
