Alan & Kimmar :rotfl:
I love those, and that pic, Alan was perfect :teeth:

Wow, that look alike was great!!!! I would've loved to have seen him in person!

Paula, nice to see you again! Glad you had fun with your family :) Actually, save the tetanus shot, that sounds like an awesome week!!!
Poor Chris though, I hope that will teach him to wear the hat more. Hope there isn't any pain he is feeling either.

The thought of Alan on a tractor??? :rotfl:

Elaine, I LOVE Ohio! I was there 3 years ago(Cleveland & Cedar Point), and then again last summer(Cincy)!! You also have a lot of good amusement parks!!!
::yes:: I totally agree! Actually I really do love it here. Gets a bit too cold, but at least we get the good heat of the summer now and then. Mostly an awesome state to live in :)

morning gang,

still haven't convinced her to go to the doc. I might get my db in on the action and see if he can do it. *sigh* parents!!

I'm tired and don't see doing a ketchup but I've read everything and I'm thinking about everyone!! (i was awake from 4 to 530 this morning and then fell back to sleep for a bit so I'm not overly talkative today!)

back later!!

OK - I've read and caught up.....not even gonna try....so....

congrats....woohoo....keep cool.....ew on boo-boos.....yuck on car accidents.....woohoo on pirate: and of course  and :grouphug:

Please apply where needed.

Alan - Chris is fine thankfully - I'm sure I'm taking this so well ebcause I found out after the fact. It was just a 2-man surveying crew - they also had a state worker with them who wanted to call 911 but evidently Chris crew member decided that he would be fine......no comment. And yes - he has been wearing a hard hat ever since.

Alyssa has decided to make her daddy no-bake cookies for his birthday. This weekend they (her and BF) made fresh squeezed very puply lemonade and rhubarb pie - hmmm....sounds like a pucker-fest in the making to me..... :love2:

Well I have successfully paid all of the bills that I ignored last week - not it's lunch - laundry - post office - get my dad's mail.....

Keep Cool...... :3dglasses

Its hot here, but not as hot as the past 2 days. Looks like it might storm. Its getting a bit cloudy.

I agree about Ohio. If it weren't for the snow, ice and cold, it would be perfect. :teeth: And CP is the best park on the planet. ::yes::

Paula, sorry to hear about Chris. Glad he is OK and glad he is wearing the hard hat now. Happy b-day to your DH! :)

Kimmar, I must've missed that pic this morning....he does look alot like Johnny.

Hi Tara!

Gonna head out to Sam's, Wal-mart, the PO, and my mom's in about an hour or so.

:moped:

I was just gonna :moped: and get back to work but I saw:

rhubarb pie -
I sure wish I could get a piece of that!

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better get back to it. More later............ :wave2:

Guess what Rebecca did for the first time in her life?

(Okay, don't go crazy with those ideas. :) )

She voted a secret ballot.

In every election, I have had to assist her because our voting booths had a display with the names for the election and you would have to press a button (which would light up) next to it.

I would have to vote once for myself and then once with Rebecca. Although she did not mind telling me who she was voting for (and yes, once or twice we have even voted differently :) but it is rare) we hated doing it on principle.

After all, I could just as easily mark her ballot any way that I wanted to, and if it were not me she would have to give her choices to a poll worker.

However, in the last election (our June primaries), they did away with those booths. Now we have "progressed" to getting a ballot and a pen and we fill in the ovals just like taking a standardized test in school. Well, in this case, everything is on one sheet.

However, for Rebecca and people with other disabilities, they have a system where you feed the ballot into it, it scans it, and then displays it on a touch screen (for those who can see, but not use a pen).

In Rebecca's case, she wears headphones and chooses an option to leave the screen blank so no one can see or hear what she is doing.

She uses a braille keypad (with arrows for non-braille users) to make her selection (it reads it back to her) and then enter.

At the end, the computer reads her choices back to her for confirmation.

I tested it with her in the primaries. In fact, I used the touch screen myself and then she used the headphones and keypad, but left the screen on so I could make sure it was working correctly.

When we went in for the run offs today, I took the girls with me and voted the regular way while Rebecca went alone to the accessible booth.

In the end, we each have to feed our ballot to another tabulating machine (so I could have read her choices then since it is marked on the ballot) but it was the first time that she had no one read the names or look over her shoulder while she made a selection.

She was pleased to have a bit more of her privacy and independance. And in a run off where less than 10% of registered voters even participate, every vote counts.

Good morning...uh good afternoon all!...and Kimmar where were YOU on Sunday????

Yes, I am Judie disguised as Cindy...or should I say Thindy but without the glasses...Lasix works great ;) you know!!!

...Cindy....Cincy....Thin-dy.....coincidence???
"...I don't THINK so...."

I'll assume the other hand is stuck in an electrical socket...... :)

hi gang!!
Alan...that is really cool for Mrs.AA!!! It's about time they worked something out for people with visual disabilities. Although, I'm still a little clueless as to why drive up teller machines (that have signs about no walk ups) use braille on the key pad :confused3

back from errands...PO (hi Sherry), Library, and BJ's again. I tried not to kill Jarrod...man his meds weren't kicked in..oy vey!!! He kept running away from me in the libraary and he didn't like any book I showed him. We finally settled on one and made it out of there alive!!

off to have some dinner!!

Hi y'all. Talked with my friend today... service will be on Saturday for her dad. Fortunately I can squeeze it in with church and my dad's birthday. There is no way I wanted to say I couldn't make it due to Dad's birthday plans :(

Tara, I do hope your DB can add to it. That just doesn't sound like something you need to ignore. I always hate it when there are long term problems that people ignore... my mom was one of them :(
As for drive up tellers, they are mass produced for all places. Some are indoors and some are outdoors. One person told me they appreciated them for when they rode in a taxi or car with someone, but not sure how accurate that one is

Paula, I will pass on the rhubarb (though I do have wine made out of it that a friend gave us), but I will definitely go with the lemonade! Sounds yummy!!!!

So Alan... didn't realize you needed a 6 year old and an 8 year old to help ya vote ;)

Holy Crap! That does look like a guy with his hand in a socket! Either that or the poor boy is having a seizure

Back from errands........I survived. :woohoo: There were a few times I wanted to strangle my boys, but other than that it wasn't bad. :teeth:

Alan, that's great for Mrs. AA. :thumbsup2

Tara, good to hear you didn't have to kill Jarrod. :teeth:

Elaine...I meant to say earlier that i'm sorry to hear about your friend's father.

just a little bump because it is time for me to go to bed. Going bowling tomorrow morning and then home to cut the grass before we get any rain. Seven day forecast shows rain everyday. Some of it might be spawned by TS Beryl but most of it just summer showers.

I'll check in tomorrow afternoon!!

Quick hi here... off to visit my other grandmother and aunt today.

You know I realized as I was typing that out, I think Luis is rubbing off on me... I now say Coke as much as soda and my pronunciation of aunt is said two ways now :scratchin

Sherry, glad you were able to get everything done!

Tara, good luck getting all that done today. I know that I had to try to get the grass in before the rain here as well.

I'm off for the day :wave2:

Morning all....

Today is our 26th wedding anniversary - woohoo !!! And they said it wouldn't last - :rotfl:
Guess we showed them!!

I'm a little punchy right now -we had bad storms last night and my 3rd shift person lost power at 3am - I had to log on and work.... :surfweb:

Tara - hope today is a better day for Jarrod....and you too!!
Elaine - I'm keeping your friend in my thoughts.
Alan - kudos to Mrs AA and I thoroughly enjoyed the pics - as always!!
Sherry - glad you survived the errands... :woohoo:
Kimmar..... :rotfl2:

Considerably cooler here today - meeting Alyssa for lunch at DD (not sure if I mentioned my dad left me his car while he is on vaca) - then volunteering at church at 1:00.

Happy Anniversary Paula! :woohoo:

Twenty Six years is a lot to be proud of. Congratulations

Good luck with the bowling today Tiara! :thumbsup2

Actually, I still do not understand that. Even when Rebecca used a braille ATM, I still had to read what was on the screen.

The only time I say soda is if I am specifically referring to a box with an arm and hammer on it. :)

As for my mother's sister.. Sometimes I call her "ant" and sometimes "Ain't" before her first name.

The entire album could be seen here but it's just a kid getting a haircut ;)

Happy Anniversary, Paula. :)

Alan, great pics. Love the new 'do! :)

Elaine, enjoy your visit.

Tara, have fun bowling.

Paula, Happy Anniversary

Alan, cute pics... and you have a good point. Though why bother having any braille at all on any machine (vending or otherwise) if you take that kind of "attitude" about it?

:wave2: Hi Sherry!

I realize I am grumpy so I might go hide away for a while :wave2:
