Awww, Paula. I'm not a huge help, since my kids are younger. That said, Neil is on Strattera for the ADD and his increased dose of Risperdal is working on the sleep and OCD issues. The increase in the meds has given me a new kid.

Perhaps talking to his doctor about *your* concerns might help out. If you do this without Chris present, maybe doctor may nudge him to find out how he feels and get a little more insight.

Nancy Im glad to hear MIL is doing better. I think Id also like to have a little of the meds shes getting LOL.

Paula I saw something on the Cosby show awhile back that might just help you with Chris. You could sit him down with play money from Monopoly equivelent to what he would get in a paycheck in a job he would get with no college education or trade school. Then start taking expenses out of that money. He would see just how quickly that money would go. Then you could explain that what he does right now determines placement in college and trade school. Maybe actually seeing it might help?

With my boys its a matter of getting their homework done at aftercare when they are still under the effects of their ADHD meds. By the time we pick them up the meds have worn off and neither of them can concentrate or focus very well which makes homework a battle. Both boys like school and like doing their best its just that we kinda battle the fun things to do at aftercare instead of doing homework. We are working on a rewards consequeces rule for homework which we will start next week.

Paula my heart goes out to you! I can actually feel Chris' frustration fairly well I think. Is there a way someone *else* can try to convince him that vocational school isn't for dummies? I know many who did it who just wanted something different... wanted an edge in life after HS. Most were fairly smart, and actually they wouldn't take the dummies But if a peer or someone like that could tell him, it might make a bigger impact.

But hang in there... I am sure some day everything will fall into place

Thanks Elaine - you are probably right - what Mom and Dad say don't mean a thing to him.....I guess I just wish he would "find his thing" - but - typical of ADD - he just goes from 1 thing to another easily bored - no real interests - no school activities. My concern is that it's getting a bit "late" to keep saying "maybe next year will be better".

Karen - good point about the money thing - thanks. He does not get an allowance- just his work paycheck and we require him to deposit 1/2 into savings.

Suzanne - I may just speak with his doctor - when we went for hhis last check up we only saw a new associate who really didn't know anything about Chris history.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is doing ok and I'm just a worry wart - I guess the report card will tell for sure. I'm debating parent teacher confrences - my not -so-compassionate husband came with me for the first time last year and as I was trying to discuss Chris issue with the teachers he kept saying "he's lazy isn't he .....let me know if he gets into trouble"....honestly I wanted to kick him.

Anyway - right now he is with a friend - at junkyards looking at cars.

sorry, I can't help much, Paula. Christin has always been a good studier. She had to try real hard, but she did it. Geoff was a natural. Never any homework....did it all at school. Math in ink College was an awakening for him.

I need some ideas. Where else better to come
I'm in the Christmas present exchange......no ideas are coming to me.
One person only put down that she is decorating a condo in Celebration......no other help.

For the condo....Holiday towels?? Table linens?? Candy ?

For the Guy....check out the Budweiser site - they have alot of Nascar things - anything from Cabelas - Sci-fi - gotta be star trek (OMG that could be my husband)

The condo in Celebration, I take is not their main home as the address is CT.

Been trying to figure out why Ive been kind of emotional today. Just realized why. Its the anniversary of my moms death. How fast six years passes. Dh threw another bombshell on me when he got home. They are redoing his department at the begining of the year and he doesnt know what he will be doing, what his schedule will be, or even if they will lay him off. Did not need to hear this today. We are supposed to go see Dreamer tonight. A friend gave me free tickets to the preview which is tonight. I just dont feel like going.

Karen I forgot to say this before but I am so sorry you are having so many problems with the DL hotel. I sure hope your stay at GC is much much better.

Nancy, nice wedding pic. Sorry that I can't help ya with any suggestions. I don't do well with shopping. Glad to hear MIL is progressing. I too want to go to England--just not the way she has gone.

Karen, hope all works out.

Paula, seems like you have been given expert advice there. My contribution would be to talk with DS about the fact that if he does want to go to college, he will have a decent trade for those summer jobs to make lots $. The other thing would be to sit with him and ask him how he sees things. Our DS sat us down and told us that we should not worry (easy for him to say) that he would make it somehow and we just had to reply that we wanted all the best there was for him because he is our son. Not to say that he performed any better as it was truly a struggle for many reasons, the school system being a complication too. He is 25 did not make it through college and is a dedicated employee gainfully employed. Good luck and wishing that you all get through this in a good way.

Had a training day today and it continues tomorrow. I like the learning, but my work waits too. Went for my trek. It was a great evening for it. Off I go now to do something domestic.

Just got back from seeing a sneak preview of Dreamer. What a GOOD movie! Im glad we went. Its a great feel good movie without being too sappy. Even dh enjoyed it and thats not usually his type of movie. The boys want to go back and see it again when it opens on the 21st.

Lainey, that's a cute kitty niece you've got there. I'm melting to the idea of having cats. Watching Jill's furbabies has definitely melted me. I'm going to the allergist, anyway, probably could deal with having one. Ed is thrilled that I'm even considering a cat. Shh, don't tell him, we'd *still* get a dog.

Karen, been seeing trailers for "Dreamer", and it reminded me of "Casey's Shadow"-I'm a sucker for a horse story.

Went to the lawyer today-it's gonna be expensive for Crazy Landlord (CLL). Afterwards, I stopped in at my old store, since his office was close by. It was nice to get some warm welcomes from my old team!

Long weekend here, then busy week with mom coming up. Trying to think of food to prep and bring over. I have to ask Ed to make his famous pot roast-have to get protein into Mom.
