Kristy if it calls for mushrooms just leave them out. My dh and kids love them so I put them in. They arent essential to the taste at all. If you were making the chicken wine recipe you could even use cream of chicken soup instead of cream of mushroom if you didnt even want those mushrooms in it. That wouldnt work if you were using pork but you could use the golden mushroom or you could use a pork gravy instead of cream of mushroom soup. I made the chicken kiev tonight and it came out yummy. The kids and dh loved it. Tomorrow night is Italian Chombot. Now that does not have mushrooms in it at all but you have to like italian sausage to eat it.

Anything made with the cream soups can be made lower fat and lower sodium by using the lower fat versions of those soups which you can usually find right with the soups. Or you could use the lower fat gravies and or broths.

I talked with the doctor today and told him just how horrible things have been. He agreed to let me come down faster on the Prednisone and see what happens. He said if my chest gets bad again just go up.....please pray it stays as good as it is now and gets better. I feel a little more optomisitic tonight. I am tired but still believe it or not wired also. I am going to try to take something early in the evening to see if it helps me stay asleep or at least get a little more than I am. I am back on an antibiotic so I have to get back up to take that in the middle of the night. Because of the prednisone I have developed a horrible infection in my mouth that needs clearing up hence the antibiotics. Unfortunately as good as predinsone is for some things it can cause you to get infections much more easily than you normally would. This is why I have been so extra careful around sick people etc.....

Sherry thank you for sending me the strogonoff recipe. I copied it. It is much easier than the recipie that I found online. I can't wait to make it. It sounds WONDERFUL!!

Dang stupid DIS... "server busy" caused me to lose this last post

So quickly... Nancy, so sorry about the job for Christin. Sounds fun, but I totally understand why she couldn't take it. What would she do at the ohter job?

Kimmie, I am having the same problem too... but when I use http://130.94.75.33 do okay and don't have ot keep logging in.

Ahhhhh.... music for the soul!! :cloud9:
You bet!!! I have a couple I keep listening to over and over. I loaded 498 songs in so far for a total of 1.88 GB of songs and 1.4 days of music play... okay I admit I am bored, but it does make for an interesting mix when I go to put it on random play... Marc Anthony to Bon Jovi to Maroon5 to Josh Groban... fun mix... oh yeah Yanni pops in strange places as well :p

Yep, I am *really bored*

Deena, enjoy your houseguest! I agree, your boys need a trip to BaB

Karen, good luck with teh doc and the meds. I hope they can get it to all work out soon... couldn't imagine being on that many meds owuld be fun anyway.

Well, off ot amuse myself... somehow...

This whole server busy and then slow loading is getting really annoying. Do they not know I NEED my DIS time?? :earboy2:

Nancy sorry that the job isn't what Christin needs. Good luck to her on the other one and on finding an apartment.

Karen I'm glad to hear that the doctor is willing to work with you on getting off of the med faster. Thanks for the tips on how to get around the mushrooms. Send me the Italian Chombot. I know Derek will like it, and I'm willing to give it a try. Hmm..does Sherry's stroganoff recipe have tomato sauce and sourcream in it??

Deena can we see pics of your house guest? He sounds very nice. Yes, it's time for the boys to have a BAB visit ;)

Elaine have fun with your tunes :)

Okay...there must be some sort of cat rule about all papasan chairs are really cat beds ;)

gotta clean the kitchen  and get something to eat :cloud9:

DIS is driving me nuts.

Karen, good luck with the meds. Hope you enjoy the stroganoff.

Kristy, nope, no tomato sauce......golden mushroom soup and sour cream. :teeth:

Deena, enjoy your houseguest. :) We want a pic.

Nancy, sorry to hear the job isn't what Christin needs. :(

Elaine you are right this many meds is not fun. I am NOT a pill taker...never was...never will be and I HATE having to take all of this. I think this is part of whats got me in this mood too. I also don't do sick well. I don't have the time nor the patience to deal with being out of it physicially. Im a very very very active person and this is just making me nuts that my body wont do what I need it to do and then again it's also doing stuff I don't want it to do too LOL!!! I did break down and take a sleeping pill and Im just kinda chilling waiting to get tired enough to lay down. I also took a couple of Advil so that should help also. Ugh more meds LOL. I will just be happy if I sleep even a little more than I have been. I took your advice and took it early so that it will wear off before tomorrow morning. I cant afford to be loggy at work because I am just so far behind right now. Gonna take a month of Sunday's to catch myself up again.

Ooooooo Elaine you like Yanni too?? I just found a cassette tape of him over the weekend at one of the music stores. One of the few that still has cassette tapes. I only have a tape player in my car so this is perfect. I was blasting it this morning on my way to work and it made me feel really good. His music usually uplifts me a lot.

Well I think Im gonna go spray my pillow with my lavender pillow spray, ask dh for a footie rub, and try and go to sleep. Night Night all. Hopefully I won't be around again tonight LOL!!!!

HUGS TO ALL!!!!!

Kristy I will type up the Chombot recipe in the morning for you and email it to you. Getting kinda sleepy now and I guess I better run with it while I can.

You learn something new every day I guess... never knew there was a verison of beef stroganoff that had tomato sauce in it! I have to say mine is so changed from the original recipe that I can't even call it stroganoff though anymore ;) I do some sort of gravy type mix (different ways depending on the mood), and add in a lot of garlic now... skip the sour cream since neither of us is big on it :p

Yep Karen, I love Yanni and still am debating if I want to see him in concert next month. I have about 4 CDs of his I think and honestly "Until the Last Moment" is currently playing. I used to paint rooms of the house to his music... just found him perfect for that.

Honestly there isn't much I won't listen to...

Hope you rest well though!

Haha! Yeppers... SSB had the same thing.... some yammering post, and then gone, gone, gone...

Hope all well tonight! :)

Well that was a great hours sleep. Sigh.....it's happening again. Now Im wide awake again. At least I got the dishwasher started running.

Had a really poopey day today!!!! Started looking feverishly throuhg the want ads at about 12:30 and saw an ad for a job that Iwould be perfect for....and bonus, immediate interviews. So off I went. I changed into some interview appropriate clothes and headed out the door. I got there are about 2. I was asked for my resume and then was told if they were interested they would get back to me. I mentioned that I would like to wait to speak to someone...I was told she was in meetings. I suggested that I would wait and was told these meetings would last for a few hours. Why on earthdid I drive 40 miles round trip for an "immediate" interview? I could have as easily sent my resume and most likely gotten the same results. I may vall tomorrow and see ifthey are still doing interviews even though it says no phone calls. I also went to a few other places andapplied on line to a job that sounds like it may be a good match as well. We will see.

Nancy, soory to hear that things didn't work out for Christin....hope she is able to find something she likes and can make some $$$$$ at!!

OK, I am off to bed. We are suppsed to be getting some horrific storms tonight...so I am going to bed before we are without power.....and heat!!!!!!

Night night.....and if I don't check in tomorrow....it is because we don't have electricity. We are in for a doozey of an icestorm!!!!

:grouphug:

Liz,

Did you find out about Fairy Godmothers? Meant to call you back, lol!

Suzanne

Got it all covered.....and actually when you call CRT, you can get sitters or at least a referal for Disney approved sitters....I think it is all taken care of. Thanks for helping out with that!! You are the best!!!!

BTW, your voice sounded NOTHING like I thought it would.....whatever that means.......

You heard my usually hyper, frazzled work voice, lol!

Hey!! Greg said we could move to Florida if we could get jobs.......need 2 more FT people? We are flexable and hard working and would like to make about $100,000 a year between the two of us!!!

I'm taking Christin to the interview tomorrow.....and then we're going shopping.
She may take this Friday-only job and then another full time job too.
Extra money will help. She needs a new computer and a newer car would be nice too.
We won't find out anything about the other job until next week. Dan is on vacation.

Good luck with sleeping Karen.
Good luck with keeping power, Liz.

Good luck with posting, everyone ;)

It's 12:01 and I'm not at work! Thanks for all the good thoughts, guys. My boss was indeed agreeable to my night off, and now my statement for the University of Washington is almost done (just editing now), the Christmas decorations are down and away, dishes are done and I killed my lemon tree. Well, ok, that last one's not so good, but otherwise I'm doing pretty well. :teeth: Scott's just helping me edit my 'paper' (via email - he still had to work) and then .. gee, I don't even know. Dinner maybe. I think I forgot to eat.

I'm a little afraid to try ketchup, given the trouble I've been having connecting to the ol' DIS. I'll keep copying it as I go along, I guess.

Suzanne, glad you're feeling better. That's a great idea about finishing your degree. I think you should go for it.

Karen - well at least you can get a lot done if you have to be up in the middle of the night. It still stinks that you can't sleep though. I'm glad the doc says you can start working your way down. When one of my ferrets was ill, we had to give him Prednisone. Given how much he hated it, I decided to try just a little taste (Public service message here: Kids, don't try medicines that aren't for you! Only nutty meteorologists are allowed to do this! We now return you to your regular Ya Ya ketchup. :teeth: ) Anyway, it was *awful*. I don't envy you having to take that and I hope it's a thing of the past for you soon.

Hi Sherry! I'm lacking in weight-loss motivation too. I have bad holiday-food momentum now. Gotta stop eating like my parents are away for the weekend. Hope the motivation hits you soon!

Amanda, that's a shame Todd can't get the night off when his mom's in town. That happens quite a bit to people I work with who aren't from around here. I always feel bad for them (especially when their family members don't 'get' why they have to sleep during the day ;) ).

SSB, I don't see how the doc could deny a WDW visit. Maybe get someone else to drive though. ;)

Elaine, I had to re-log in again last night from work and from home this afternoon. Something fishy is going on with this board. Your undeveloped 4-year old film reminds me of some my parents developed after my wedding shower. The roll had been in the camera for some time, but no one knew from when. My wedding shower was in 2001, I was 23. The first pictures on the roll were from when my friends and I went to see the Blue Jays (baseball) in the World Series, which I believe was 1994 (not into baseball anymore so I'm not sure). It was like 'Caroline-through-the-ages' on that roll!

Hi Beth! Find anything interesting on QVC?

Hi Liz! Congrats on being a 'loser' this week (weight-wise, you know ;) ).

Hi TC and Shep!

Nancy, that's a shame about Christin and the science center, although only one day a week at min wage isn't too good. I hope the other job turns out to be a good fit for her.

Kimmie, looking forward to the jungle room pics when they're ready. Inquiring minds, you know. ;)

Kristy, we used to not have bison too often because it was so expensive. However, it seems to be catching on around here. One of the big grocery chains has started selling pre-boxed bison burgers, which we have all the time. We've also bought steaks, but that's more of a once in a while thing, because of the cost. Now that I'm thinking about it, though, we've gotta get some more of those hot dogs. Haven't had those for a while. I've been trying to convince my mom to try them for ages, but she skeered of the flavor. (I'd just like to point out that was my first use of the Ya Ya term 'skeered' - teehee).

Deena, it definitely sounds like a trip BaB is in order. Seeing everyone's pictures on here is making me want to go. Maybe the ferrets would like one? Hmm.

Liz, sorry to hear the interview wasn't as immediate as promised. Hopefully one of the jobs you applied for will be 'the one'. I'm keepin' my fingers crossed for you.

Ok, I must get back to editing. Scott has returned the latest copy, so hopefully I'll be done soon. G'night everyone!

Caroline I cant believe you tried Prednisone. YUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKKYYYYYYY is all I can say. Unfortunately all to many times on me they have started to melt before I can get them down. Has to be one of the all time grossest tastes in the world and you cant get it out of your mouth to save your soul. Thankfully I will be going down faster and should be off of it completely by this weekend. I will be one very very happy camper. My eating and drinking are out of control lately from it and I fear I have gained a lot of weight besides just the fluid weight from it. Oh well. It will come off too.

Good luck getting everything edited and out tonight. How sweet that your sweetie is helping you from work. Dont forget to eat something girlie. Ya gotta keep your strength up for all that work you are doing. Poor lemon tree. How did it meet it's demise. I swear I didn't look at it. I can kill a plant at 40 paces ROFL. I even killed not one but two of those bamboo luck plants that you cannot kill ROFL!!!!

Bison Burgers and Steaks?? Sounds interesting!!! I love trying new things. I LOVE venison but can't get it down here. There is nothing like venison sausage. My coworker once brought some in that her family had sent her and I went over the edge on it with the taste. That was my first and my last and Im stuck on it and cant get it LOL. I might have to see if dh's uncle can get me some up in PA as he hunts and ship it down to me on dry ice or something. I know we can get ostritch down here at Fudruckers. I have never tried that. Just might the next time I am there. What can I say Im adventerous.

Well I might just go peel the potatos and put them in water for tomorrow...read todays....dinner. One less thing to do in the morning. Im not sleeping anyway.

Im here Caroline if you get bored with doing what you are doing and wanna talk.

Liz Im really sorry that job interview wasnt what they said it would be. Good luck with the icestorms tomorrow. I hope and pray and will that you wont lose power. If you can can you call someone and let them know you are okay so they can post?? We worry about you kiddo.

Nancy I am also sorry that the job wasnt what Christian needed or wanted. Taking on two jobs is a lot but if it gets her what she wants and needs then maybe it would be a good thing for her. Hopefully she will hear good things...and get good money....from the job from the friend of the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you both on that one. Good luck with the interview.....today....notice I almost said tomorrow ROFL.

Okay that's weird Im showing offline but I actually am here. Potatoes are all peeled and wedged and in water in the fridge for the morning and onion is all chopped up in a bag for the same. I will have very little to do in the morning except throw that and everything else that goes into it into the crockpot in the morning and set it. Heck if I have to be up at least Im accomplishing something. Silver linings....silver linings.

Sorry you're up again, Karen. I've been an insommniac since I was little, so I have an idea what the no-sleeping thing is like, but I'm not (usually) sick and feeling lousy at the same time.

I always felt bad when one of my 'kids' had to take medicine,a nd the vet said this one (Pred) was particularly nasty, so I dipped my pinky in and tried a drop. (It was in a water suspension since ferrets can't take pills). NASTY STUFF! :crazy2:

Almost done the editing, I think. Which is good because my stomach is growling now. I was wondering when it was going to figure out it hadn't eaten. lol ;)

Ah, the poor lemon tree is one of a long line of plants I've done in. I'd been bringing back those little ones from WDW for a while, and I had one that actually lasted and bloomed and stuff for about a year. My dad finished it off after I left it at my parents' house on my honeymoon. So last summer a friend of mine decided she wanted a little fruit tree, and I went with her and decided to get one myself. I figured it was already much bigger than those little seedlings so it would be harder to kill. Famous last words, I know. It did ok through the fall but as soon as the heat came on in the apartment, everything dried out. I tried 'spritzing' it, but it didn't help. Basically it was pretty much a dried out stick by Christmas so I put it on a little table by the window (too lazy to get rid of it, I suppose, and I hoped it might be a little alive in the roots still and come back in the spring). Well, when I was taking down the Christmas lights, I managed to snag the table with one of the strands and pretty much fling the tree across the kitchen. Humorous, yes, but the end of the tree. Maybe the 4th one will be the charm. :teeth:

Bison is very tasty, I think. It's not gamey at all .. it really tastes like beef but 'sweeter' somehow. Thinking about this is making me hungrier. lol

On that note, I'm going in search of dinner (can it be called dinner at 1:52am?) and hopefully the last edit of my paper. Talk to you later Ya Yas. :)

Hope you can get some more sleep. :wave2:
