LOL Karen...I have a picture of me bowling with one of work teams last week and boy is it a reminder of how much more weight I need to lose. I'm so addicted to warm, home cooked, full fat meals in the winter, like the lasagna grandma made for me. :cloud9:

Heck...as I'm sitting here I'm getting more and more hungry for a big pot of chili.. :rolleyes1

Kriiiiiiiistyyyyyyyy now see what ya did. Now I want chili!!! Oh yeah that would go good with the Prednisone heartburn I already have wouldnt it ROFL!!! But I want it now. Hmmmmmm might have to make some of that tomorrow. Might as well get all my cravings out of the way this week for come Jan 2 Im getting SERIOUS!!!

Caroline we would love for you to join out weight loss group if everyone that wants to decides to do it. So many of us are on diets or getting ready to start diets. Elaine has lost a lot of weight already. I am so proud of her!!! I aspire to do what Elaine has done weightwise.

:duck: sorry Karen....I guess I'll just have to make it tomorrow too ;) ;)

Now go get some REST, you need it!!!

Evening, yayas! I hope you each had a nice time spending the day with your family (although I know Liz didn't!)

We got to bed at 2, and the oldest was awake at 7. They loved their presents, and Kevin LOVED the bike. He had to content himself with riding it in the living room-it POURED all day. He'll take it out on the open road tomorrow, though.

Off to Mom's for prime rib. Yummy. I think my special mashed potatos are a hit-most of them were gone, lol! It was a nice, relaxing day-even caught a nap, which is why I'm not sleeping!

Tara-I hope everything comes up clear for your Mom. Her situation sounds very similar to my SIL, all the same risk factors. Please keep an eye on her for the next few weeks, as the symptoms can come up well before the actual event. PM me if you need any help. Hugs to you and mom.

Liz-Yikes! What a sad situation. It's hard to deal with a Toxic Person like that-and it's hard having to deal with her to see those girls! Enjoy your time with your YaYa Sista Bethie this coming week!

Pam-I told Ed that someone would see him in that skirt! You could've made a pit stop for some of the eggnog!

JRKaren, sounds like your Mom was very much present today! I know how hard it is missing a parent-hugs to you today.

Karen, Please resist the cabin fever! You didn't get sick overnight, you're not going to get better overnight, either. GET YOUR REST!!!! If I hear that you're not resting, I'm coming down there with the straps and making sure you stay in bed.

Lainey-Brrr. Got any Flan left? Please be careful on those icy roads.

Todd-Sounds like a wise move staying home with the weather conditions.

Amanda-Sounding more and more like Santa should've brought some Calgon for you!

Caroline-Scary thing, those migraines, especially when they change on you. Good luck on Christmas, part 2!

Kristy, Hey sweetie! We miss ya around these parts! I'm in on the weight loss thing too-I've gained about 50 pounds in the past 18 months-it's gotta go! My mom makes a mean lasagna, and Ed was a little bummed that it didn't come home with us!

Deena, are you comatose after getting presents together for all those kids?

Sherry, are you out there playing in your snow?

Off to bed. My store is supposed to close at 6 today, and I have a feeling we're gonna be gently 'encouraged' by the mall to stay open later, so I'm going to need some sleep!

Suzanne

Morning Everyone!!!

I've been up for about the past 45 minutes. Prednisone and Albuterol are not condusive to sleep. I've kinda been up and down all night. I'm going to church today but just to help out with Kids Church. I have GOT to get out of this house and really all they need is an adults presence there to keep the kids well behaved during services and I can sit most of the time. We are so short handed this week because most of the adults are away. I'm gonna quick run to the cellphone store after that because my cellphone met with a untimely water death last night and I can't be without one. There goes my big gift for Christmas. The money will have to be spent on a new cellphone. I had hopes of getting some new VS bras when the sale starts on them next week. Oh well. I promise to come right home after that and stay on the couch for the rest of the day and nap.

Suzanne it sounds like you and the kids had a wonderful day yesterday. I hope Kevin can get out today and ride his bike. Is it still raining there? I think we are getting what you had yesterday today. It's really windy and cool and slightly rainy outside this morning. I hope the mall doesn't talk the store into staying open late tonight for your sake. Any good after Christmas sales at TDS? I Sooooooooo wanna go shopping and spend my gift certificates but I know I can't and shouldn't right now. A mall would be the worst place I could go at this point.

Liz You asked me the other day why I dont fly. I'm deathly afraid of flying. I couldn't get on a plane if you paid me to do so. I guess I could take the train but it would take so long to get there and back.

Tara Please let us know how mom is doing as soon as you know something. I am still praying for her that everything is okay and that she passes the tests with flying colors today.

Caroline I hope you are feeling better today. My prayers are with you also.

Elaine Did you get some good sleep last night? I hope so. You sounded so tired and had such a busy day.

TC Congrats on 20 years to you and Sue!!!

Welp I guess I better hit the shower and get my stuff ready for church.

I hope everyone has a SUPER SPECTACULAR DAY!!!!!!

So I think I am going to totally take advantage of this time and clean, clean, clean!! Bethie will be here bright and early in the morning!! Whoo hoo! I am quite excited about that!!

Karen, sorry to hear that you are still under the weather. Of course I will strongly advise that you rest as your doctor ordered. Sure don't want to pass any germies on to the kids. Cell phone can certainly wait until tomorrow can't it? After all, if you are home you won't need it, will you? Take care of you and let eveybody else worry about all the other stuff!!

Suzanne, I have heard about all that rain!! Sure hope that bike can be ridden outside sooner than later!!! I saw a few bikes being ridden in the snow yesterday!! It is quite funny to see. How fun to be so excited about all tohse presents. So much fun to see excitement in the kids eyes!!! Ah, yes, that is what Christmas is all about!!

Tara, hoping all is well with your mom! Hope to hear news that she is home and doing well. Know that there is lots of pixie dust headed that direction. Do keep us posted when you can.

Amanda, I am sure hoping that Mandy is feeling better as well. I knwo Beth and I are quite excited about meeting up with you guys. Sure hope that Many is feeling better today and you guys can still make it on your getaway! Sounds like this would be a much needed break for you!!!!

Caroline, hope you were able to snuggle with your blankie and are feeling better!!! Colds are never fun. I have been nursing Greg and his cold for about a week now. Poor guy, I think he feels just like you do. Feel better and drink lots of liquids.....of course a hot totty may just do the trick!!!

Pam, thanks for the Christmas update!! Sounds like you and Santa had quite the night! Does your hubby know? Thanks for the much needed smile!! Your stories do have a way of putting a big old grin on many faces!!!! I would beg for another if I knew you werren't so busy!!! Enjoy the holidays!

Kristy, WTG on the weight loss!! That is awesome! You must be so proud.....and wearing smaller clothes!! Whoo hoo!!! Glad to see you popping in here!! Don't be a stranger!!! I have missed you muchly!!

OK, I know I haven't even gotten down half of the list, but I am going to have to ride on coat tails!!! Off to get some work done.....

Todd, Nancy, JRKaren, Rose Mary, Deena, Kimmie, Kama, Boo, Bethie, TC, Lily, Tina, Sherry...... and :grouphug:

Can't wait to hear more tales of Christmas!!

Liz Im no longer contagious. Ive been on an antibiotic for five days so I can't pass it on to anyone. I have to do the cellphone today since I have to work tomorrow and will need it. The store is really close to home and I can run in and run out and not have a lot of contact with anyone much. Its more about me catching yet something else from someone else than me passing it on to someone. I just have to be careful not to get around sick people hence not going to regular church services today. With Kids Church I can circulate and not really have contact with anyone much and I can sit in the back. It's more presence of adults than anything. With church we have that meet and greet and shake hands of the people around you. I don't need to do that right at this point. I am feeling a LOT better too. My fever is gone, sinuses and nose are better, throat is better, and so is the lymph node in my neck. I mainly still have the nasty cough which I fear will take awhile to go away. I promise though I will be right back on the couch when I get home and I will nap. Want me to take a nappy for you today since you will be so busy cleaning?? LOL!!

Good morning all! I did, indeed sleep in! I think I wound up sleeping about 9 hours last night :o I rarely get more than 6-7 around here on average :p

Luis is still asleep though, and I plan to go to church w/ or w/o him. He is just as tired as me, but he needs more sleep than I do on average.

Tara, I am so glad that they don't think it was a heart attack!! I will keep thinking good thoughts for her and y'all with that!

Suzanne, I have tons of flan left... come and get it before it's gone ;)

For all you weightloss people... I still have about 8-10 pounds to go before I think I will be done. I actually set a goal of 145 for myself and passed that this past week, and I realize I do have a little more I can do. As of this morning I weighed what I did when I met Luis in college (142). I will say I am short, but I am a heavier boned chick in some areas so me getting below 125 would be sickly. 130ish would be ideal for me I think.
So this isn't meant to be a brag, but truthfully it can be done :) For me it just took a while to figure out where I "went wrong" and change it. The first two weeks were a bit rough, but for the most part I have no troubles now with curbing my eating on my own. I'm just not as hungry as I used to be.
I suppose I had a bit of help though... one I had a few good friends who would be happy to listen and say how proud they were of me even if they weren't losing weight themselves. That helped. I also realized that my eating habits hwen I worked 3rd shift is what messed me up. So now I am down (she does the math) 46 pounds... yep I was about 188 at my worst this year. Trust me, I never want to go there again. When Luis starting coming close to my weight, I realized I had to change something!

So there, I'll be around to help cheer you on. 46 pounds and gone from a snug snug 14 (read really a 16 but didnt' want to buy that size :p) to about a 6 now (sometimes an 8 though). I wish you all who want to lose the same luck :)

With that I am going to go... but I do hope everyone does well with the weightloss who wants to :)

Good morning yaya land.

Thansk for all the thoughts and well wishes. I just called the hospital and she was gone to her stress test. So I will wait a little while and then call again. Of course, just to make things more exciting we are getting snow and ice here right now  . I don't want to have to drag the boys out when mom is ready to come home. So I hope my db or dsil are available to go get her! either that or they need to come here and stay with my two munckins!

I had a true family bed last night. My double bed (with my body pillow) and the 60 pound dog and the 4 year old. Then the baby woke up and was ready to eat so I just put him in bed with us!! It was quite comical!

I'm on board for the weight loss group. When I graduated from college I was 124 pounds...no I'm 184. YUCK!! So my goal is to get to 130.

I'll check back in later!! Oh Amanda...I hope Mandy is feeling better!

tara

rescue from page 2

Last talked to mom they were waiting for the tech to arrive so they could do the stress test. This is a 2hour plus procedure. It has been over 2 hours since I talked to her so I should be hearing from her soon!!
Hope everyone is enjoying their days!

Tara any word yet. Been saying prayers for you and mom all day.

Got my new cellphone after church today. It's smaller than my other one and doesnt have the camera which I don't really use anyway. They werent able to get my numbers off my old phone and we have to go to a company tomorrow to see if they can. What a mess that will be if they cant. I came home and as promised took a nappy. Reading the manual for the phone is really good for that ROFL!!! I went from ATT to Cingulair and the quality of the sound etc....is SO much better. These are much cheaper phones but the quality is so much better. I can actually HEAR my dh on the phone!! Tomorrow after work dh has promised to take me to the mall IF I promise ONLY to go to two stores....the two I have gift certificates for. I want to go to B&BW because they have a big sale starting tomorrow and I have a GC and Burdines because I want to get a perfume that I love that I cant usually afford. Thanks to the GC I got from one of my patients I can now! I also had to promise I would come home today and stay on the couch for the rest of the day and tomorrow the same thing after we get home.

Good evening everyone! It's a cold snowy, sleety day here in Boston. We're supposed to get six inches tonight. Looks like I'll be doing some digging tomorrow. Yuck.

I booked my flight for my May trip to Disney World today. With credits, a voucher, and a gift certificate, I only had to pay $36 towards my airfare! Yay!

Tara, sending out good thoughts for your mom. Hope you hear how her stress test went real soon.

Karen, you better be resting so you get better.

Elaine, glad you got a good night's sleep. I was up at the crack of dawn this morning and couldn't fall back to sleep.

Well, I think that's all for now. I'm not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

Karen

Karen I promise Im resting and being very very careful about contact with others. After talking about it today dh is actually taking me to a mall and a shopping center tomorrow after work. He will take me directly to Burdines in the mall and I can walk in get what I want and walk out and then he is taking me to the shopping center where I can walk in get what I want at B&BW and walk out. He doesnt want to take me to the huge mall where they both are so that I have to walk through the mall. He wants me in and out. Doing it this way is the ONLY way he will take me. He's trying to keep me as quiet as possible but still allow me to do things. He is only looking out for my best interest and I know that and I love him for that. He also knows he cannot cage me in though. Im not that type of person. I cannot vegetate for very long or I get nuts. I am not going to do anything though that's going to cause me to get sicker or end up back in the hospital. I promise to take it slow and easy until Im back to normal.

Hi gang!
Well, mom is finally back home. She is sleeping on the couch. The stress test showed that her heart is in great condition given her medical history. She shows no sign of any damage or heart disease!! So now it is off to see the PCP this week and see what he can find. They think that it is probably a pinched nerve somewhere.

They were supposed to move her to a room last night and put her in a better bed (as opposed to the er gurney) well that didn't happen so she spent the night on a gurney and they didn't give her anything to eat or drink because they were doing the tests. So she feels worse now than when she went in.

Of course she was ready to come home at the height of the snow event. Just as soon as I cleaned off one window the next was covered again. I ended up having to take both boys with me b/c my brother had a friend coming over and couldn't change those plans  , he suggested that since he couldn't go get mom and so that I wouldn't have to take the boys, that mom get a cab! Cabs are scary enough without snow on the ground!!!

Anyway, going to the hospital took about 35 minutes instead of the usual 15 to 20 and visibility sucked!! I could barely see two feet in front of the truck. However, on the way back the snow began to subside and eventually stopped. Now all of our roads are turning to ice!

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. I'll keep my yaya family updated as we work to figure out what the heck this thing is!!

tara

Tara I am so glad to hear that mom is home and that it's not her heart. It could well be a pinched nerve somewhere. Im praying that's what it is and they can take care of it very quickly for her. Yikes it sounds like you had quite an adventure going to pick her up!!! Im glad you got there and got back safely. Shame on your brother for suggesting she take a cab in her condition! Im glad she is able now to get some sleep and recoup from her ickky night at the hospital. She and you are still in my prayers and will be kiddo.

Oh, Tara!! What a scare!!! I DO hope Mama Bev is feeling better, gets thru her stress test just fine and is home again with you all soon! So thankful that it wasn't a heart attack!!

Karen, I hope you don't have a set back because you insist on going to church and all. Little sister, I know you are going stir crazy and feel like a caged animal, but your body needs the rest in order to heal! It's not about being contagious or even about avoiding what other people might be carrying. It's about your body being in a weakened state and needing to heal. Just that little walking you do from the car into church and back could be enough to erase all the healing that has managed to take place in you from staying down the last 2 days. Please, please try to relax and just get better! We don't want you ending up back in the hospital again!!

Amanda, I hope Mandy is doing better today, too! I've had one of those knots like that before, complete with the swollen throat--I was sure I was coming down with strep or tonsillitis or mumps or something! Took tylenol when I went to bed and woke up fine. It had magically disappeared overnight! I do hope Mandy is just a bit over-stressed and over-tired from the excitement of the holiday and will be her old self in no time!

Caroline, it sounds like a hot toddy could be just what you need! So sorry you are feeling so poorly and the cold weather is probably not helping matters, is it?! I'd say a hot water bottle or heating pad for your feet, a nice comfy warm quilt or blanket to cuddle up in and a hot drink would go a long way towards helping you feel better soon!

Kristy, it's so good to see you posting more often!! I think you and the others have a great idea there, for a Ya Ya weightloss "support group" here! I know I could certainly use the motivation and encouragement!! I'm right with ya on the heavy "comforting" meals this time of year. Not to mention that DH and I are addicted to gravies all year long!!! I bet we could set a goal of losing a total of at least 300 Ya Ya pounds amongst all of us!!! BTW, the new pic of Dakota is just gorgeous! She is looking sooo very healthy, happy and that burgundy velvet is just beautiful!!

Liz, I am so very sorry about your experience last night. I swear, family hurt is worse than any other.
hug.gif
I'll deliver one in person tomorrow. Don't understand what drives people to treat each other so rudely and without remorse. And why they can't put aside their personal differences at least at holiday time, is beyond me! Gotta admit, Suzanne sure hit the nail in the head with her "Toxic Person" comment!! So fitting for your SIL!!

Hey, Nancy!! Glad to hear Geoff worked some magic on your 'puter!! I have missed you greatly and look forward to hearing about your holiday. And the cake?! Ordered??!! That's all you're going to tell us??!!! Details, sistah, we want details!!! Size, flavor, filling, decorations, etc,. etc., etc.!!!!

Suzanne, are things drying up down there yet?! Sorry to hear about all the rain, but I'm sure you're just glad it's not snow!! So Kevin busy learning to ride a bike, what about his brother?! What did Santa bring him?? And you, for that matter?! I know you were a good girl this year, so Santa surely brought you something special!!

Lainey, I think you looked positively great when we saw you at WDW earlier this month! Your weightloss looks soooo good on you! I have a hard time believing that you used to weigh as much as I used to (about 20 years ago, that is).

Had to take a break to cook and eat dinner, so here I am, 2 hours later, trying to finish a decent ketchup. And I can't seem to recapture the train of thought I was following earlier. I don't suppose it would have anything to do with the fact that my hunny has put in Return of the King and now I have all these good lookin' fellas marching across my TV screen..........I am so easily distracted! So I guess I will give up for now and come back later. Hope ya'll are having a great evening and you sickies are taking care of yourselves and getting better!!

Ahhhh....Tara sneated!!! Yippee and yahoo, Mama Bev is home!! Great test results and I'm so glad to hear her heart is in such good shape! Too bad they couldn't get her into a decent bed and didn't bother to feed her, either. That stinks, big time! And, soooooo glad you were able to get to and from the hospital safely through the snow. What's up with THAT, now?? We don't have any precip of any kind, up here! Just frigid cold, that's all.

Tara...glad to hear that all appears well for your mom and that she is back home

Karen....bet if felt good to get out

Beth...we have given Mandy medicine and the knot is still there. Cassie was running a fever earlier, but it is under control now. I will be up bright and early to call the dr....don't want to miss our trip.

Mandy had a good birthday. She is now playing dominoes with Todd, Nene and Papa. Hopefully the snow will clear and she can ride her electric scooter.

Liz...nice talking to you tonight. Prayers your way for Greg and his brother. I better get baking those cookies.;)

Forgot to say...I'll jump on the weight loss ban wagon. I have atleast 10 lbs that needs to go and I need to firm up.

sorry...I haven't been around much....company ya know.
Usually early morning is "my" time....well, M'Cori gets up earlier than I do, so that isn't working.
I have been trying to read a little at least.....still getting the computer back to normal, or trying to.
Glad to hear that Tara's mother is not having heart problems. Hope all is well with Mandy.
I will get details about the cake when I can stay on longer and take some time.

Tomorrow we are headed out to do after Christmas shopping and then to the casino in the evening. I will have computer time sometime in the future ;)
