Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Ok, not too bad today. Down 2.5 from last Friday, but still up .5 from my lowest weight. This next week should be great, cause my goal is to drop 2 lbs and that will be the lowest I have been in several years.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Got a 2 mile walk in at lunch - Woo hoo! Hope everyone is having a good Friday - the weekend is almost here.

Here's to our BLs. Congrats to all of you. :cool1: Well done.

And here's a special :dance3: and a :yay: and big :thumbsup2 for Vicki. Way to go. Enjoy and congruatulations to you.

Lisa

Thanks Lisa!

I am up . 4 this week, but that is not bad considering I finally got my appetite back on Sunday and probably ate too much the first few days. Having the 24 hour bug sure takes a lot out of you. Here's hoping that I can do well this week and can lose another pound by Fri. It does help that we are having some 50 degree weather here.

I hope everyone is having a good Friday!:goodvibes

Vicki

Good morning TEAM!!

I'd like to Thank mikamah for being an AWESOME coach last week. :goodvibes I'll be your new coach for this coming week.

Today I lost 2.6 pounds - I'm so excited to see this working now that I'm being strict again. Woohoo! It's up .6 from yesterday but that is ok. I think its because I ate out and it was probably more salt than I've been getting.

QOTD: Do you plan ahead for your day or your week (make a meal plan) so that you stay on track? Or do you wing it?

If you do plan - How do you do it and are there any tips you can give.

For me - sometimes we do a whole week of planning for dinners, and some weeks we get in a rut and don't get it done.

For daily planning many mornings I'm putting together my "cooler" for the workday at the last minute. I need to get better at planning ahead of time -for the week and the night before.

Planning for me is key though. If I have a cooler full of things I know are factored in to my day - then there is none of that panicky "on no what do I eat now that I'm starved". I usually bring nuts or seeds for an afternoon and morning snack since I try to eat every 2-3 hours to keep my blood sugar stable. What I need to do is work on having a more balanced Protein/Carb ratio even at my snacks. lately I've been bringing a piece of fruit or vegetable to eat along with the nuts.
Welcome coach Melanie!:wave2:
QOTD- I try to plan for the week when I shop on sunday. I like to make a big meal or two that last 2-3 days for lunch and dinner, like chili, or vegie lasagna. That way my lunches are packed in ziploc containers and ready to go. I get out of work early two days, so I try and cook a good meal those nights, so on my late nights, we have leftovers. If I don't plan, I end up with not so good stuff, like last nights grilled cheese sandwiches and spaghettios! Duh. I don't even like spaghettios, but I ate them.
Some days for work, I'll bring cereal and fruit for lunch, rather than hitting the cafeteria.

I am soooo far behind this week, trying to catch up after being sick is not easy!

Just a quick report and I'll try to catch up on the weekend.

LOST 6#!!!! YEAH! :woohoo:
Whoo hoo!!!! That is awesome!!!

2 pounds this week.. bringing me to 18 total... come one 20 pounds...

I gained 1.8 this week :grumble grumble:. I know why, I was on the cycle and my stomach problems decided to manifest themselves this week with constipation. Growl. Oh well, I am back on the program and counting points. I really want to exercise, but I have had to stick quite close to the bathroom the last few days so activity seems to be not so much a good idea (plus stomach cramps so bad you can't stand up straight make it hard to do aerobic exercise). My Girl Scout cookies were delivered yesterday and I'm proud of myself: I put them into single serving baggies with the points marked on them and stuck them in the freezer. I was able to do this without going to town on them. I even gave half of my box of thin mints (one tube) to the Amish guys on the roof.

I've been journalling my day ahead of time in pencil, and that has been helping a lot. I've ended up eating less than I planned for and really staying within my points. I have high hopes for this coming week.

I hope everybody has had a wonderful week. Congratulations to Michelle for being the biggest biggest loser so far! Your weight loss is really inspiring!

Congratulations everyone who is still with us. We are all superstars for hanging in there this long!

I'm definitely a turtle. I lost 0.6 this week but I've lost a little each week and am down 13.6 since we started this challenge.

I had some awesome news from the doctor this week. I had to go in for my annual lipid test. I was tested around 6 years ago and had a real scare as my triglycerides were over 800! They are supposed to be under 200. My LDL was a bit high and my HDL was way too low. I was immediately put on medication which fortunately balanced everything out in the next few months.

My previous blood test was my first since getting off the medication. I was managing to maintain numbers at the high end of normal. I've been trying to control portions and took up running a year ago. This time I went in was a huge but awesome surprise.

My triglycerides went which had been over 800, then down to 200 were now down to 95! My LDL is now down to 102. My good cholesterol which was too low (in the teens) is now up to 27. It's still low and throwing off my ratio but my doctor was very impressed with how much it increased as it takes a lot to change it.

I also had a big compliment by the nurse who weighed me. After stepping on the scale, he looked confused down at his clipboard. He asked me my date of birth to make sure he had the right person. After I told him he said, "Wow, you lost a lot of weight." I asked him what I weighed on my last visit and I'm down 28 pounds in 11 months! I still have 20-30 pounds to lose but at least my numbers are looking good. It's a huge relief as at one point I was told I'd most likely be on medication the rest of my life.

I've been on cloud 9 all week!

-steve

I just wing it. I've tried to plan, but I always end up changing.

I am down 5lbs this WOOT WOOT:woohoo: :yay: :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo:
I am so excited I cannot say. I have gained some serious willpower b/c of my 15lb loss!!!

Congrats to all the losers!!!

I just downloaded the song the Climb from the Hannah Montana Movie Soundtrack and really started listening to the lyrics. I felt like they were really speaking to me where I am right now with everything in my life and really can serve as an inspiration for my weight loss. Perhaps somebody else will find these lyrics inspring:

I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreaming but
There's a voice inside my head sayin,
You'll never reach it,
Every step I'm taking,
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking but I
Got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna want to make it move
Always going to be an up-hill battle,
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing,
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes they knock me down but
No I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm going to remember most yeah
Just got to keep going
And I,
I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on,

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna want to make it move
Always going to be an up-hill battle,
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna want to make it move
Always going to be an uphill battle,
Sometimes I'm going to have to lose,
Ain't about how fast I get there,
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith baby
It's all about
It's all about
The climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith

That's a great song, and very appropriate for my weight loss journey. That mountain is definitely steeper some days more than others, but I'm gonna keep trying, gonna keep pushing on, like it says.

Eeyore's butterfly, you've been on a really steep part of your mountain lately, and I hope it get easier real soon. Thanks for sharing the song. Is it from her movie that is coming out soon? My son has been loving Hannah Montana lately and singing her songs, and can't wait for the movie!

I hope everybody has had a wonderful week. Congratulations to Michelle for being the biggest biggest loser so far! Your weight loss is really inspiring!

Thanks! My family just loves supporting me by pointing out that they've always known I was a big loser! :rotfl: Keep up the good work and you'll get there. This challenge is helping me stick with it. I guess there is a local biggest loser competition that I may join Monday at work. We just found out about it though and I don't know how the weigh-ins will work. No way am I weighing-in in front of my co-workers! I like the concept of sending my weight to a total stranger! I'm going through my closet today and weeding out clothes that are too big and discovering new ones that fit me! It's so much fun!:cheer2:

Sorry, I haven't been on the boards much- I've been making some really great cd's for our trip though. I'm down 3 pounds this week :) Jeez I just told my husband on the phone and his response to that was hmm- let's go to Hometown Buffet  Lol. Only one more pound until I lose 20 total :-)
Some QOTD"S I need to catch up with-planning food-- yeah I do plan food because a lot I take out of the freezer to thaw. (I work in a meat dept. so I get a lot of bargains) Favorite vac place other than Disney? Seattle. Hands down. Then Portland.
Good job Umm, give a poke to DH for the buffet suggestion.
I'm making a trip to Seattle for the half marathon end of June. Do you have any particular suggestions for "must see" places? I'd love your input if you've time.

 I'm sorry you are struggling. I am also very proud of you for continuing to move forward through the tough times.

Wow everyone! There are so many that I want to respond to and I know I will miss many. Everyone keep at it. We can do this.

Vija, well done!

Steve, great job there on your annual physical weight report.

Seems like I’m reading this week from some really serious weight losers. I did manage to get it down one more pound this week. Now I really have to roll up my sleeves and tie on my tennis shoes to get it done. These next pounds for me are always the toughest time. I play up and down from here out and somehow I need to get it to the point when it is down that it stays there.

CarolA, here’s to hoping you have a great Princess event.

QOTD: Do you plan ahead for your day or your week (make a meal plan) so that you stay on track? Or do you wing it?

I don’t seriously plan. It is more of a wing it, but I always try to have healthy things around for me. My guys are not ever into anything good for them and this sure does make it more difficult.

Praying and sending PD for all to have strength and success this week.

Sorry the QOTD is late today - Had a cheer competition and just got home. Good news is they took first place in their division as well as grand champs -yeah!!

Saturday QOTD: What is a new food you've tried this challenge that you have never had before? Did you like it?

I tried Kefir - It's a milk product that has beneficial bacteria. It has a tang like a yogurt, but pours like a milk. The bacteria is different than those found in yogurt, so its good to add it to your diet because it offers something yogurt doesn't.

I use it in smoothies - alternating between the yogurt.

I semi-plan. I make sure that I've got lots of easy healthy lunch options for at work, and that there's some choices for dinners. Worst thing for me, is that if we get behind on keeping the kitchen clean, then I'm more likely to eat badly for supper.

I know I would lose faster if I could be stricter, but when I've done that, I've always fallen off the train badly. Since I joined this challenge, I've really tried to go with eating reasonably and still having some of the fast food. I'm hoping to be able to make the small changes permanent ones.

I haven't weighed in yet, but I'm hoping for a lost tomorrow when I do weight in. I'm in a rambling mood today, and have drifted way off from the actual question. Time to get off her and get back to work.

Good luck tomorrow - Making small changes pemanent is an awesome plan!!

Woo hoo- Congrat's - It's always fun when your getting close to a number you haven't seen in a while.

Now that your feeling better after the bug - you'll do great this week. .4 isn't bad at all -its just water.

Welcome coach Melanie!:wave2:

I've done the cereal for lunch thing too - It works in a pinch.

I've maintained, which is good considering, so I'll take it. :)

I agree that maintaining is good !! We can't lose every week.

2 pounds this week.. bringing me to 18 total... come one 20 pounds...

Okay you guys...I sent to a seminar with a friend today who's considering a gastric bypass and wow - lots of info and over 100 people there! I was seriously thinking about it - I'd have to gain 20 pounds to do it, but then I was thinking no - I can do this, people can do it with support and I have you all! :) I do believe that it's a choice that's right for some people, just not me at this time. It was really eye-opening to see the positive health changes from weight loss though, very motivating! Plus they make you diet before the surgery on a liver-reducing diet. I didn't know this but your liver gets bigger as you get fatter and can block their access to your stomach!

We are going out to dinner tonight for DD17's birthday. I can't believe I have a 17 year old now -YIKES! :faint:

She picked Olive Garden. Has anyone looked lately - they have nutritional info for everything and some new items that are healthier. I'm pretty impressed actually.

You can do this Jen - No need for surgery. It may seem slow, but doing it this way is so much healthier. Just think about how they have to eat aftewards. This way is so much better by a long shot. You have us - TOGETHER we can ALL do this - with no surgery!

Ahhh--me too! Some of my pants are just too big and are falling off, dragging on the ground, and some of my pj's are just too big to be comfy or keep me warm around the house. And some of my jeans that were always tight are too big around the waist. I also think that a few more pounds and I can wear my pooh overalls to Disneyland. They'll be a little tight but that's ok.
