Welcome To The Caribbean, Love ~ Updated 5-27 P52

Yikes! I know it's bad if you threw it away! :scared1:

What are you trying to say???? :scratchin

Before we get to the main point of the post here, let me just start by saying that I am super behind on the DIS, and for the first time in my life, I actually don't feel guilty about it.

Congrats on the house! It seems like everything is falling into place nicely! Although I've never seen your husband, why can't I get the picture outt of my head of a Jack Sparrow look-a-like wearing a tool belt? :rotfl::rotfl:

Runners high? :yay:

Seriously though, congratulations on finishing a 5K!!!! That is a great accomplishment, even if it wasn't done in Disney. :grouphug: So you think you will be going in October??? Hummm Hummmm????:goodvibes

I'm so woefully behind in all things Disboards, but a very belated congratulations on the house! That's just wonderful to hear. Your going to have a blast decorating your house for your pirate clan!

Thank you! And yes, decorating will definitely be interesting given our penchant for Disney / Jack Sparrow / Nightmare Before Christmas / Batman. :lmao:

I'm flattered I have inspired you for a "series of installments" and am intrigues as to how you are going to unpack that. Hmmm....

All shall be revealed in due course.

I love that you are working on knowing that IT'S OK to have mixed feelings on your trip, both good and sad. They are what makes us who we are!

So true.

Yeah, I"m not sure BD is worth 2 credits- esp. if you're getting a salad and champagne. But oh! that salad- YES MA'AM!! :cloud9:

Now, whatever my husband will order will more than make up for it. When we're at a signature he usually ends up with a pricier entree, not because he's trying to get the best bang for his buck, just because why not treat yourself? :goodvibes

Hurray for having a closing date on your house and all the plans that go along with that! Best of luck as you begin packing and getting the house ready to move into! :goodvibes

Thanks. Packing.

Ick. :rotfl2:

Your Day Two plans sound brilliant! Of course, I may think that since they closely mirror our own for that day! Just trade that lunch for a dinner at Brown Derby and there are our plans. LOL! You are going to love Star Wars Weekends. It is so fun to see guests all dressed up, and the energy and fun is contagious. Not to mention, there is something to be said for walking around a park and suddenly seeing a bunch of Stormtroopers marching around.

Can you take pictures with Stormtroopers? I would so get you and I some inexpensive SW blasters and try to nail down that photo op. :lmao:

YAY for completing your first of I hope many 5Ks!! I'm sure its a great feeling!! I'm really thinking I'm going to have to look into this program because the idea of running a Disney 5K is getting more and more appealing to me!!!!

I can't speak highly enough of the Couch to 5K or the book The Courage to Start. Either will get you motivated, that's for sure.

YAY for moving forward on the house!! That must feel fantastic and a bit scary at the same time LOL!!!!!

Hope you are having a great week!

Fantastic and scary definitely describes it.

What are you trying to say???? :scratchin

That was my subtle way of saying if you're anything like my husband, it has to be REALLY bad for you to throw it away.

Or I could be assuming. And you know what that makes me. ;)

That smiley is so cute it bears quoting. :lmao:

:rotfl2:

Dude. It just occured to me that we're friends on facebook.

Therefore, you could, if you choose to, "see" my husband. And, as a matter of fact, there's a lovely picture on there of us in full costume, and I believe he's rather romantically dipping me. I think it was my original profile pic.

Just in case you want a more accurate visual.

Runners high? :yay:

It's funny you mention October, because I won't lie, Tink and I have been discussing it.

Because yes. Even though she's on vacation in the World right now, and I haven't taken my May trip yet, it's totally normal to be planning another one.

Totally normal...

totally normal....

totally normal.....

do you all believe me yet?

Yuck.

Ick.

Gross.

It's a good thing that posts on the internet don't require actual physical contact, because if you'd set foot in our apartment this week, you'd all be sick right now! :sad2:

Nemo has a nasty stomach virus to the tune of three to seven days. We're on day three, and currently he's had three saltines, a popsicle, and part of a banana, which made him nauesous. The good thing is that today his fever is lower (100 instead of 102 at its highest), and he is getting a little more demanding which indicates to me that he's starting to feel better. ;) I can't really get Tylenol into him because...well...it just reappears. And that's the nicest way I can possibly say that.

Squirt is teething. Today it's been better, but it seemed like both kids were at their worst at the same time. It's the first time I've actually heard him screech in pain. I know I've talked about this before but I'm not exaggerating, Squirt is one of the happiest babies I've ever seen in my entire life, so when he's really hurting, boy do you know it and, wow, it's almost shocking.

My allergies have started to kick in full force which just means I've got a nasty sinus headache while dealing with the kiddos and that just makes things less fun.

When these things happen, I often reflect on my decision to stay at home, and how even though these days can be hard, it's so worth it. Isn't that funny? You can have a kid puking at your feet and think, yup, I'd rather be here. :lmao: But, honestly, between the amount of snow we've had this winter, and Nemo being sick, I'd have used up all my paid time off, and honestly, is it really worth it? Well, we obviously know how I feel about that so I won't rant on it anymore, disembarking soapbox now.

Moving on.

To day three.

Oh, day three. The day I dream of.

Go ahead. Picture this.

Sandy beaches. Hammocks. Little niches to sit and sip a Pina CoLava. Pirate themed pool and play area, Nemo's first time playing there, Squirt's first time feeling sand on his feet. Quiet pools. Fun food court, pirate themed shopping.

Oh, gosh, I'm having a Disney moment.

Hold on.......

::: phew :::: :upsidedow

In case you haven't figure it out, on day three, there are no plans. The plans are to wake up whenever we want and then enjoy our beautiful Caribbean Beach Resort. I. Cannot. Wait. I have a feeling this will be my favorite day on vacation, because I love days that are spontaneous.

We're not married to any particular idea. We do have dinner reservations at the Coral Reef this evening, and I think I'd like to stick with that because Nemo is so excited about it and I think Squirt would absolutely love it.

We could spend the whole day at the resort, or we could head to a park in the afternoon, or whatever.

It's pirate, baby. pirate:

Oh, yeah.

Savvy?

That was my subtle way of saying if you're anything like my husband, it has to be REALLY bad for you to throw it away.
I know what you meant.... ;)

Or I could be assuming. And you know what that makes me. ;)
What? :confused3 popcorn::popcorn:: :rolleyes1

Dude. It just occured to me that we're friends on facebook.
I probably could of done some digging and found a picture... but I had an image and I didn't want it to go away! :lmao::lmao:

It's funny you mention October, because I won't lie, Tink and I have been discussing it.
There is a 0% chance I will be in WDW in October... 0.

Sorry Nemo is so sick. I hope you are right and he is on the mend. When Melody got home last night she was sick as a dog. She ended up hovering over the toilet 3 separate times. :sad2:

Your CBR day sounds great.:thumbsup2 We try to schedule in some down time but it never seems to work out the way we planned. :sad2:

Oh, poor Mel!!! I hope she feels better soon, and I hope you and Juliana don't get it, it's no fun.

Your CBR day sounds great.:thumbsup2 We try to schedule in some down time but it never seems to work out the way we planned. :sad2:

The only thing that could throw a kink into the down time plan is The Finding Nemo Show at the Animal Kingdom. I actually don't have a specific Animal Kingdom day scheduled, and we've never seen the Finding Nemo show. Knowing how much Nemo and Squirt love the movie, it kind of makes me want to fit it in, but I'm not going to worry about it.

This is the kind of thing I would normally stress over, but honeslty, if it happens, it happens. When we arrive, I'll double check park times and the week before I'll check and see if I can get some show times off...gosh what is that site. Anyway, if it works, okay, but if not, I'm really more into some family down time. We need it. :thumbsup2

I am loving your day 3 plans. They sound heavenly. I think it is funny that you haven't seen the Nemo show at AK I totally thought of you while we were watching it.

HOW WAS YOUR TRIP?????? :goodvibes

Okay, I'm done shouting. I'm just so excited to see you back and hoping you had the most awesome time ever. :thumbsup2

And thank you on the day three plans, I'm rather fond of the non-plan of them. I've never seen the Nemo show. One time, when Nemo was really little, I needed to change his diaper, and we just missed getting in on time, another year we opted to see FOTLK instead because we didn't have time to do both.

We did have an awesome time. So much so that you should go check out my trip report.;) It will probably move slow and be mostly pictures but you can follow. The link is in my signature. Yes that line about moving to Fl. :goodvibes Just last night my hubby said if we lived close enough we would be going this weekend just so he could walk around WS and watch Illuminations. (Does any body else hear that guys voice when you type Illuminations?) He really loved it way more than I even expected. :cool1:

Actually, when I think of Illuminations, I always think of the part where they "blow out" the fire torches, and it gives me chills. Every. Single. Time.

I actually have the musical score that accompanies Illuminations on CD, and that'll do it for me to. I haven't listened to it since my Mom passed. I have some really fond memories of watching it with her, and it's kind of a long story that I won't get into yet, but I know eventually I'll be able to listen to the music and smile instead of sob. It really is such a meaningful experience for me, and honestly...at the risk of being lynched...I'd rather watch Illuminations than Wishes.

Now Hallowishes, that's a whole other story.

I digress.

I'm so glad you had a good time, and HEY! Did that link just appear, because I don't remember that being there a few minutes ago. :lmao: I will definitely go to check it out. I may not comment much what with everything going on, but know that I am definitely reading. :thumbsup2

I do too. I think of the way he says Illuminations and then that part. I love it.

The next time we go as a family it will be in Oct. Though I am working on my dh to see if I can go and run the 5k this Oct. We'll see. I really want to see the MK all decked out in its fall colors.

That's ok. I follow along on a lot of tr but I really only comment on a few of them.

This October you say?

:scratchin

:rolleyes1

I hope everyone starts to feel well soon. It's so tough to be home with sick kids. You start to think spring will never come, but it will!

I enjoyed your Disney dreamin'. What a great visual!

Gosh, I'm sorry the sickies have hit your house, too. It's funny you say what you did, because when my children aren't feeling well, and I have to call in and make lesson plans and worry about school all day, and then when the kids go back to school themselves, I worry whether or not I should have just stayed home one more day, I think, "I should always be at home with the kids." Which is not fiscally possible, but you get the idea.

I love your day 3 plans. Anything pirate is good for me, and those are the most pirate plans ever.

I'm so sorry you guys aren't feeling well! I hope you feel better soon! :goodvibes

I LOVE your day 3 plans. I actually want to plan my October trip like that. But it's hard when you have to make ADR's and have the dining plan. :confused3 I'm going to try to figure out a way, though. If not every day, I want to leave a few days free! We changed plans at the last minute on our November trip one night and it ended up being one of the best nights of the vacation!

Oh, and I love Illuminations. From the world techno dance party music they play before (which I listen to every single day before work :rolleyes1) to the end. I'm not sure I love it more than Wishes, because I really love Wishes, they're probably about the same. :)

Hi TK! I've been absent from the Dis for awhile, but saw your thread pop up. Congrats on the new house! Sorry about the sickies - we've been dealing with that too. First DS and I had a cold, then DD and I had stomach flu, now DD has Roseola. All this in less than a month. A month where I've also taken two business trips. :faint:

Anyway, your trip is sounding great so far. I just did our taxes and found out we're getting a pretty good refund, so I think a WDW trip is in our future! :cool1: Now I just can't decide if we want to go Oct/Nov for F&W and MNSSHP or Dec for the holidays. I'm kind of leaning towards October because we went in December last time, and while it was great, I missed not being able to go to the water parks, and I think DS would really love it.

I hope you're all feeling better soon, so you can get back to important things, like planning more WDW trips! :goodvibes

Yes, you can take pictures with the Stormtroopers! ;)

Hope everyone begins to feel better soon!

Day Three sounds absolutely lovely! Very relaxing and easy-going! :thumbsup2

I LOVE day three!!!! What a way to vacation girlie!!! ;) I hope you and your crew all get to feeling better REALLY soon!!! I have Miss Megs home today with stomach cramps....no yuckies yet, hoping that it subsides before that starts!!! EEEWWWWW!!!! Here's to good health for everyone! :)

Thank you so much! I feel spring around the corner, I just know it is. :flower3:

I totally understand what you're saying on the work front. I was so lucky to have had my mom before because she could watch Nemo when he wasn't feeling well if I needed to go to work. The only down side to that was he usually made her sick! :sad2: On the other hand, we saw her all the time, so the germs could have been passed any time, not just from her watching him. :lmao:

Yes this Oct. I know we can't swing a whole family trip, but if it were just me. I just don't know if dh will want me to go with out him when he wants to go again so badly.

I'm seriously debating this October as well, but it just so happens I have this rather LARGE purchase looming over my head, and wouldn't you know it, it's got shag carpet and dark wood panelling and gosh, I'd like to take care of that. :lmao:

I'm so sorry you guys aren't feeling well! I hope you feel better soon! :goodvibes

Thank you!

I want to tell you a little story that sounds very non-DIS like. Because you know how we all love to plan.

Well, except me on this trip apparently, but normally I'm very commando with the planning.

I know if you have the dining plan you're "tied down" to certain ADR times, certain restaurants, etc. I want to tell you right now, I've changed reservations mid trip, I've cancelled things, I've rescheduled, and honestly, if you're mildly flexible about where you eat, it's a possibility.

Another neat trick I like to employ is eating at a signature restaurant once on the trip. Depending on how your flights run, you may not have enough time to be using all your table service credits without really cramping up your touring time, so my solution, especially this trip, is to eat at the Brown Derby. It takes two credits, and leaves me with two other credits to have two nice meals, instead of scrambling to figure out how to fit four sit downs into our five day itinerary. Savvy?

Oh, and I love Illuminations. From the world techno dance party music they play before (which I listen to every single day before work :rolleyes1) to the end. I'm not sure I love it more than Wishes, because I really love Wishes, they're probably about the same. :)

Ah, yes! I love to use our tax refund for Disney, however, this year, I believe it will go towards house renovations. :lmao:

I really love fall in Disney. It's my favorite time of year to go. I've been in December as well, and I'm glad I've seen Disney during that holiday season, but I prefer fall so much more, for the weather, the decor, and of course, MNSSHP.

I hope you're all feeling better soon, so you can get back to important things, like planning more WDW trips! :goodvibes

That's right! Priorities! :thumbsup2

Yes, you can take pictures with the Stormtroopers! ;)

Ooo, Stormtrooper photo op. I so need to figure out how to make fake Leia hair. :lmao:

Thank you! I hope Megan doesn't get really sick like with what Nemo had, it's no fun! My doctor's office wasn't kidding when they said up to seven days, we're on day four, and althoug he's better, he's still got a fever. At least food is staying down though.

Day four is just as exciting to me as day three, but for entirely different reasons. As much as I'm looking forward to the relaxation and down time, I know that by day four, I'll be itching to get back to a park.

And what better park to end our trip with than the Magic Kingdom? This day, we'll have a late breakfast seating at Chef Mickey's, and then head over to the Magic Kingdom to finish out our vacation as we should. With pirates and ghosts and Buzz Lightyear, oh my!

Other than our favorite rides, I'm really going to let Nemo hold the reigns here. Pretty much what he wants to do is what we'll do. He'll be like a kid in...well, Disney World! I can't wait. :thumbsup2
