Welcome Parties?

I'm curious what others have done for a welcome party. We would like to feed people, but with a $100 min for the reception the following day, it'd have to be a real steal to be able to afford to do both. We're doing an Illuminations reception, so we wouldn't do an Illuminations dessert party, and I think the fantasmic one is too similar.

Any help is appreciated since we're quickly approaching the 180 day reservation mark.

Also, we're thinking about doing our rehearsal dinner as a rehearsal lunch at the GF Cafe - any reviews? We've never eaten there before, but it looked pretty when we did our planning visit and the prices and menu seem reasonable.

I love the GF Cafe. My parents had there after their Vow Renewal lucheon there. The staff was great. I would recommend that.

we had our welcome dinner at the rainforest cafe at dtd, if you look at my trip report i gave info on our menu & you can see photos. i worked with laurie at rfc group sales, rfc did a great job & our family enjoyed the food & atmosphere on the lake.

We had our welcome party at Winter Summerland. Pizza, Sodas, 2 cakes & a round of mini golf was included. It made for some great pictures and a nice way for all our guests to meet & mingle. We had a blast! Very inexpensive in Disney terms.

I am doing the exact same thing! We cannot afford a welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, and a dessert party. So, we decided to combine the welcome dinner & rehearsal into one the night before our wedding. 'Ohana is my favorite restaurant, delicious and so much fun! I am not sure about the exact price b/c I am still further out than 180 days, but I believe dinner is around $26 pp for all you can eat. It is well worth it

We are too. I absolutely love 'Ohana! I'm hoping to get ressies so we can watch Wishes! What a beautiful way to kick off the "Happily Ever After" Celebration of 20 years!

I love KT27's idea with the golf party...that sounds like fun too...
