Welcome Home Weeks Return 8/14 – 9/16 2025

They say summer and was hoping to take advantage of these again but it will not work with our dates.

I suspect many others will not be able to attend as the kids will be returning to school.
I feel like only people who live in Florida get to take advantage of this kind of stuff for the most part.
It seems like they should give everyone a voucher for when they come.

There will be hundreds-of-thousands of owners & family members visiting the 17 DVC resorts during this 5 week span.
True but last year it was actually held in what the majority view as Summer months of July-August.
Now it is not starting until Mid August and going until September and while the dates are technically "Summer" it just doesn't feel like it with kids being at school.

On the flip sides those who don’t travel in the summer due to heat and do fall trips instead are getting it this year.

No time will work for all members.

Yeah, but that doesn't really have any bearing on the suggestion that it's mostly for locals. There are over 5000 villas at WDW alone, with occupancy up to 12. Plus 2 DL resorts, Vero, Hilton Head and Aulani. Those rooms are generally at 98% occupancy year round. Thousands and thousands of DVC owners and their guests/family will be able to enjoy these events.

And for people who visit other times, there are a dozen Moonlight Magic nights, holiday character meets, lounges, etc.

I wasn't arguing necessarily about locals more the summer aspect as the email specifically states "Summer"

At least we will get a magnet I suppose from the magazine.

Its less than 10% of the points which likely correlates to owners as well.

Same theme as the MM events which are not something people can actively plan long term around possibly going to. Instead they drop in randomly so its easier for locals to grab a single night room and pull the lever to get tickets.

Majority of owners will not ever go to a MM event or be during this "summer" (end summer/early fall) time period.

They do this stuff to show it to people so they buy DVC. If it was about getting everyone to actually partake it would be proactively planned further our and would also transition the timing as well over time.

Of course it helps them to sell DVC and what it has to offer.

But it doesn’t take away from all those who are eligible and who will get to enjoy this year!!

I personally love when they offer these extras!!

My comment wasn’t an argument, just an observation that locals get to participate in this more than out of towners and that Disney might want to target their members more broadly. Locals can go to every single one of these events and not stay on dvc property once during the giveaway period. Even an out of towner who is visiting will probably only hit one event. That’s just the reality. Maybe Disney wants it that way. 🤷🏻‍♀️

They've been running late night theme park events since 2016 (formerly Beach Bash.) I call total BS on claiming that the "majority" of owners will never attend one.

I've attended 5 of the late night events over the years which were all booked before dates were announced. The majority will stumble into one every few years, and there's enough capacity for thousands of owners to attend.

Your exact words were "I feel like only people who live in Florida get to take advantage of this kind of stuff for the most part."

That's just completely and utterly false. Again, thousands of out of town owners will be staying in the villas over these 5 weeks. Also, several of the events are limited exclusively to resort guests. Others are 1 per week, 1 per the entire 5-week span.

To me, it seems silly to split hairs over how many character photos or ice cream bars a local gets. Comparison truly is the thief of joy. Printing and collecting vouchers, and otherwise enforcing stricter rules, has a cost associated with it too.

It feels like they added more to it this time, no? Maybe I just don’t remember the list from last year. Anyway, it’s nice it’s returning, we won’t be in WDW for it this year sadly, but I live local to DLR now so I might attend the coffee and/or wine social if I can make it. I’m also a sucker for a reusable grocery bag lol looking forward to seeing that

Also interesting they’re marketing going to see a refreshed CCV room as part of the this. They must know we’re nosy af to make that a treat of the program…that being said, they’re not wrong! Hope someone on here is there in the early days and gets pics😅

We will be attending during last week in August. It coincides with a MNSSHP we already have tickets for. We’ll try to take advantage of the discount to eat at Diamond Horseshoe, and definitely see the new parade at MK.
