Welcome Home Stay

What has been your experience with booking a "Welcome Home" Stay after buying direct? Is it likely to get exactly what you want and stay there a couple of months after purchasing or does it still need to be planned months in advance? I am thinking of telling my guide that we will purchase direct now contingent on us being able to stay where we want in September (Polynesian Island Tower or BCV) since we pretty much already paid off one of our resales and want the direct member perks before our trip.

Unfortunately you likely won't get a welcome home stay because you bought resale first and are already a member. It is usually for members who are both new and buying their first contract direct

They said I would but they would only book it using the direct points last time I spoke with them

Did you talk to them before you bought your resale points and did they know you were already a member?

They were doing something like a welcome home stay using the new points only for anyone who bought Poly when the tower opened so that new buying members weren't shut out by sleep around points members booking everything 7 months out as soon as it opened. Maybe they are still doing that.

So it's possible they may still do it if you are buying Poly and are looking for an island tower room since they have so many of those undeclared. I don't think they would be able to get a BCV room as those are incredibly popular and they don't have any undeclared rooms

Yes they know that we are resale first, they told us they won't book anything with our resale points but they will with the direct.

We're buying Riv, they are aware of that too. I just emailed our guide now, hopefully they will still be willing to do that.

Since PVB went on sale, they have opened the up the welcome home booking to all owners.

They can’t create inventory out of the thin air if what you want is at a sold out resort.

Since you want PVB, they may be able to get you something in the tower because they still have undeclared inventory.

However, it would also depend if they have alsready sold rooms for cash.

For BCV, it won’t work because that is a sold out resort and owners have already booked there

Guide this morning said that welcome home stay is possible with my situation, but he can't do anything to speed up my membership showing up unfortunately

It's a newish rule that yes you will get a welcome home stay even if you bought resale first. I had no issue getting a VERY hard to get room I wanted exactly when I wanted it. They pull from cash inventory to fulfill the request.

TBH they already made a concession for you to buy direct by speeding up your resale contract, you should buy direct since you told them thats why you wanted it sped up. Edit: I see this post was older, so hopefully you have already boughten direct!
