Hey Everyone! We just became DVC members and I have a question about booking our first Welcome Home Stay. I've heard rumors about member services being able to pull strings in case availability is an issue, but is there any other reason to call in to book?
Also - are there secrets that make the Welcome home stay special?? Or do I just need to wait and find out? :)

If you are a new member who purchased from Disney, you can often get something otherwise unavailable at the resort you purchased for your first trip because of Disney's ability to use its own unsold inventory to give you a room. Note to accomplish that if you need it, you should actually start with contacting your sales agent rather than MS. If there is no such first stay issue in getting what you need, you can do the reservation online instead of calling.

Other than that ability to get a room otherwise not available, there really is not anything special done out of the ordinary just because it is your first stay. You will likely be told "welcome home" when you get to the resort, and, as a new member, they may provide some more detail about the resort than they would for a member who has been there before, but otherwise you should not have any high expectations of something special being done.

Thanks for this! I wasn't really expecting anything more - but wasn't sure. I'm a planner, so I like the idea of searching the availability myself. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't miss anything by not calling.
