Welcome Bags

oh thank you so much!! i think i might do these for each couple and something smaller for the kiddies!!! Thank you so much KellyJo :worship:

Right now the bag is the hardest part. I don't want to do the paper bag but the only thing I have found for under/at 1 dollar apiece is a kraft gable box, its ok, but I would love to have some sort of bag people could carry.

I bought my canvas bags at Hobby Lobby when they were 50% off. So they were approximately $1/bag. I bought the packs of 3 that run 5.99 at half price. They are the 14 x 14 bags (I think). I'm going to do the Iron-on thing on them. Just have to design it.

Just keep an eye out on the sale papers, or go to hobbylobby.com to check out the sales. :cool1:

I just went to the website and the canvas bags are not on sale this week, BUT the T-shirts and Flip-Flops are 50% off. I will have to go get a few more T's for our crew!

I haven't made mine yet, but I posted pictures with a bunch of ideas on my PJ.

I love these ideas, too! I'm so excited to make these :)

Kelly - thanks for the template info!

I have been seraching too on the whole bag issue..

Never thought of making own -- I did find an website that has them pretty cheap.. If you need more then 36 -- I am going to need between 65-75 so making them might be a lot of work..

Here is the site:

These are perfect, maybe I won't make them after all! Although it says they're 8.5 inches wide... do you have them yet? Are they big enough for a folder too?

Kelly Jo, I never saw pictures of your bags before! They are so nice!!!! You did a great job!!! :thumbsup2

If this has been discussed before, I apologize. But, are you guys only making welcome bags for the guests who are staying in a Disney Hotel. We have about 45 wedding guests, but less than half of them are staying on Disney property (Basically, my side is, his side isn't) Is there any way to get them to other hotels? Or is it best to just stick with Disney? Thanks!

I am going to try, I only have a few guests staying off property. I have to find out how far from Disney they are staying and if it is entirely possible. Thank goodness so far only a few are doing so. I would feel bad if more stayed off and I didn't do, especially since they will hear about the welcome bags from the others and I don't want to make them feel left out

Yea. Only one is booked off property so far, and it's his mom! So if she heard at the wedding from his Dad that he got a welcome bag and she didn't, that would be bad!
And, the rest of his family has decided that Disney is to expensive, so they want to stay off property.. but none of them booked yet, so we don't even know if there coming...

Thanks!

right now target has princess and "Cars" lunch bags for $1.00 each. They're some sort of vinyl-like material. At least better than a brown paper bag.

Also at Smart and Final they sell Chinese-to-go containers. You could put Disney stickers on these. Or if you sew, find some inexpensive Disney fabric - try Walmart - and sew drawstring bags.

good luck!

Most every one of my guests is staying off property (despite my encouragement), so I think I might distribute them at our welcome/rehearsal dinner the first night... I'm going to mail their welcome folders beforehand (so they have something to read on the plane), so maybe I might send the welcome bags then and then I won't have to worry about shipping them down. We're only doing bags for the wedding party (which is immediate family members only - and my grandmas), because we're trying to save some money. We bought some great beach towels off disneyshopping.com for between $6-10 a piece! It was perfect. We got all of them (including 2 for DF and me) for about a hundred dollars. Not sure what else to put in the bags though... :scratchin Oh yeah, and I bought a lot of trading pins off ebay for ALL the guests... except I can't find any bulk lanyards (and I want them to be disney)...so I'm not sure how to distribute those... :faint: TOO MUCH TO DO!!

Here are our bags:

This was our wedding logo - we had it embroidered on the bags & screenprinted on T-Shirts

Table of Contents - there's a story here - our ENTIRE guest list & wedding party were Disney newbys - and even though we tried RELENTLESSLY to get them to learn about Disney they refussed :furious: so this was our last ditch effort not to have 20 people following us around expecting that we would be their tour guides

In the back of the Information Kit we had a pocket to put park maps etc...

WOW! Misti, those bound information booklets are nice...Heck the whole bag is fantastic! You really did a great job on those bags.

MY idea to distribute them is not NOT run around to everyone's hotel. I am giving ours out at our Welcome Dinner. They will be like placecards at the tables.

Here is an image of the ones I've purchased. It's currently just plain.

AWWWW

thanks so much - we really worked hard on these - I think it's a southern thing - I have this odd natural instinct about "Welcoming People" :rotfl:

We started with LOTS of testing with iron on transfers on canvas bags like the one you posted - but I'm one of those people that has to have everything "just so" :rolleyes1 & I couldn't make the iron on thing work.

We started looking into having them done & lucked out in finding a local company www.advancedgraphix.net :cool1:

We sent the the art file with our logo - they charged us a one time fee of $25 to convert the image - and then embroidered our bags & screen printed our T-Shirts.

It was WAY more reasonable than I thought:

BAGS - $10/ ea & this included the bag & the embroidered design

T-Shirts - $10.50/ea which in cluded the T-Shirt & a small version of our logo printed on the upper left hand corner & a larger version of it on the back - they even allowed us to order multiple sizes in small quantities which was great becuase we had every age & shape from 11 months to 50+

And they got this all done in less than a week :goodvibes

I love your bags too! We're doing a similar welcome booklet, same binding and everything! I think it's a good idea to get people interested... did you give them in the bags or mail them out prior? I like the idea of having something to read on the plane.....

wow alot of you went all out for your welcome bags... This wedding is costing too much so Welcome bags are out of the question for me, Unless I can find a way to find cheap ideas

That would have been smart thinking on our part but we didn't have our act nearly that together :rolleyes1

We were actually still printing these the night before we left & my dear DH  did the binding in the hotel room while I was putting together the welcome bags & making sure the bows were tied just perfectly :rotfl:

I KNOW I KNOW - I have more than a slight case of OCD :sad2:

We only had 18 guests otherwise I can assure you I would have been on MUCH tighter restrictions from DF. The adult bags weren't too bad but, I waited to fill most of the kids bags until we got there. My thinking was that it would be cheaper to go to the outlet stores there rather than haul a bunch of stuff from Texas & we were flying - unfortunately I didn't find anything I liked at the outlet stores so I filled them with stuff from World of Disney & I went slightly overboard
